A new Stormwater Drainage Utility fee will be included on Boerne Utilities customers’ bills beginning in January. Boerne Utilities created a Stormwater Drainage Utility last year to provide funding for the installation, operation, and maintenance of drainage infrastructure at various locations in the City. A Stormwater Drainage Utility is a user-fee-based funding program to maintain and expand the City’s
drainage management activities and provide funding for drainage infrastructure needs. The funds collected through the fee will be managed separately from other city funds and are dedicated to addressing the stormwater drainage needs of the City.
The City’s Stormwater Utility is modeled after others adopted throughout Texas, where the rate is be based on impervious cover – the areas of a property which do not absorb water. The more impervious cover on a parcel, the greater amount of stormwater volume that runs off the property eventually
