Dear Abby, My Governor just doesn’t get it. Abby, Texas ranks #30 in the country in gender pay gap. That’s right, women in Texas effectively stop getting paid on October 20 while working the rest of the year for nada, zero, zilch. In Texas, women earn an average salary of $40,670 while men earn an average salary of $51,125. The job role with the smallest pay gap is Producers and Directors, where women earn 6% more than men. The job role with the largest pay gap for women is lawyers, where women
earn 45% less than men. Heck, Vermont ranks #1 for the smallest pay gap, with women earning 9% less than men. Vermont? Are you kidding me? All they have is maple syrup. We’ve got oil, black gold, Texas Tea. And, Abby, above all, we’re tough and we’re Texans with necks good and red. Even California with all its faults, many larger than the San Andreas, has a pay gap of only 12% when comparing men to women. Abby, our men are more manly and our women, well, mucho mas! What gives? We need to cowboy up and make this right?
It may happen sooner than we think. With all those California millionaires moving to Texas, their women folk probably won’t stand for that. Bet they close the gap, fast! I’ve suggested strong border security and a border wall before. No, not with old Mexico, with New Mexico. Yep, head those Californian’s off at the pass. But no, they are moving here with their U Haul’s full of dinero. Never heard back from the Governor about my idea of an import tax from The Golden State. Just think of the windfall if we could’ve caught Elon Musk in that net. Darn!
It’s scary, Abby, you remember back when California was a Republican State. Well, I gotta get back to work, just one more thing. Before my old buddy Greg goes to thinking about throwing his hat in the presidential arena, I hope he will watch some Rick Perry videos. And if that doesn’t deter him, he should watch ‘em again.
