EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK | 19 DAYS

Trip Description “Everest Base Camp Trek” is one of the most famous in the world and the magic begins on the flight to Lukla, with breathtaking views of the Khumbu region. From Lukla the scenic trail proceeds through beautiful Sherpa villages and lush valleys before spending a day to acclimatize and perhaps enjoy the colorful Saturday market at Namche Bazaar. You will experience incredible views of the Himalayan Mountains, vast glaciers and Monastery (Tengboche - also home to the world’s highest Buddhist monastery) on the way to Everest Base Camp. Dingboche boasts more stunning views of the mountains, villages and valleys and allows another day for acclimatization. On to Gorak Shep, you will pass monuments erected to commemorate the deaths of (several) Sherpa who perished in avalanches. The Everest Base Camp consists of semi permanent camps set up by mountaineers and Mt. Everest is not visible from this area. Hike to Kala Pattar, a shelf at the foot of Mt. Pumori, and see the spectacular views unfold of the south face of Mt. Everest. With a sense of achievement and the thrill of the return journey (from Everest Base Camp), it will be time to head back to Lukla.

Trip Grading And Health Requirement This trek is a moderate trek. However participants must be in good health and physical condition. It is vital that participants with pre-existing medical problems or conditions make these known to Himalayan Glacier at the time of booking. Medical and evacuation expenses are the responsibility of the participant. It is also important that you consult your doctor for vaccination and other medical requirements for your trip. Himalayan Glacier reserves the right to require a medical certificate prior to booking your trip. The Everest Base Camp Trek usually demand 4-5 hours of walking everyday; walking up to Namche Bazzar & Everest Base Camp are slightly longer days need up to 7 hours of walking. You should be prepared 4-7 hours of walking or jugging exercise everyday before at least 3 months before your Everest Base Camp Trek starts because you are walking on high altitude. And also you must need a positive attitude and a strong determination; previous hiking/camping experience preferred and no technical experience need.

Trekking Route MAP

EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK | 19 DAYS

A Typical Day On Trek At 6 am your Sherpa will knock on your door with a chirpy good morning, followed shortly by a basin of hot water to wash in. Then it's time to order breakfast, pack up your kit and head off to trek for the next three hours through forests, hills, mountains and local villages. You'll stop for an hour at a particularly pleasant spot along the way for a well-earned hot lunch. Then you'll then walk another three hours or so, before you stop for the night. Then you can have tea or coffee and some light

snacks, before exploring the area with trek leader or just relaxing until dinner is served in a warm dining hall. The evenings are spent reading or chatting with your fellow trekkers and crew about the trip so far(s). A pack of cards is an asset on these nights; the crew love teaching various Nepali card games and learning new Western games. Finally, it's off to bed for a well deserved night's rest before you start it all again.

General Information Best Season: We are capable of running this trek throughout the year. But according to lonely planate guide book and our experienced we recommend autumn (Sept, Oct & Nov) & spring (March, April & May) as the best seasons for the Everest Base Camp Trek. The weather is sunny and warm, but the nights are cold and can fall to freezing. Winter (Dec, Jan and Feb) is also good, only colder (obviously). Summer (Jun, Jul and Aug) is monsoon so visibility and rain are an issue.

Visa requirement: A tourist visa is required to travel in Nepal, for information on cost and an online application form go to: www.newweb.net/nepal_embassy/visafor m.htm or you can get the Nepal entry visa up on arrival at the airport in Kathmandu. It is just easy to attain your Nepalese visa on arrival in Katmandu. Make the process easier by downloading & completing the application form, having the correct US$40 and two passport photographs. Also note that you should be having a passport valid for remaining at least of 6 months prior to the trek departure.

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS): Our itinerary is planned with a high degree of minimization of awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Going up too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to kill. The higher the altitude the less oxygen there is in the air. On the summit of Kalapattar (5554m/18192ft), Everest Base Camp (5357m/17575ft) for example, there is 50% less oxygen than at sea level. Your body needs many days to adapt to this so for a safe trek it absolutely essential to allow for sufficient time for acclimatization. Sensible planning is therefore required to minimize the risk of AMS. We advise specially the guest(s) with known heart or lungs or blood diseases to consult their doctor before traveling. Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorder are symptoms of AMS. Check out a reference website for AMS, Trek safe http://www.treksafe.com.au/medical/altitu de_illness.htm HGT’s itineraries are designed to try to prevent AMS but it is important to remember, some people can be more susceptible than others.

Vaccination: Vaccination is most important while travelling as to prevent yourself from the possible diseases. For traveling to Nepal; we recommend you to take a vaccination of Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A etc. However it is not really a must to have but it is recommended. You should check up with your doctor prior to the departure to your trip. Your doctor will have access to the most up to date information on the required vaccinations for the country you will be visiting.

References, maps and books: Prior to the departing to Nepal or at its mountain, it is always good to have reading some travel reference books to know much about the country, its peoples and customs which help you a lot to prepare yourself for traveling smoothly.

Recommended books: - Lonely Planet, Nepal Travel Guide book, Trekking in the Everest Region Etc.

EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK | 19 DAYS

Why your trip with Himalayan Glacier Trekking? Good question. These days it seems that every man and his brother are running an adventure tour company, so why should you choose us? We were hoping you'd ask that.

Who are we?

Social Commitments

Safety and Experience

We are a small, personalized firm specializing in treks, tours and expedition in the Himalayan region. We have more than 15 years of exprience in adventure travels; we have grown up; learning mistakes and comments from our valuable clients.

As Nepalese we love our country deeply, but at the same time we're not blind to its problems. And so we're committed to helping Nepal along the road to peace and prosperity in our own way. Part of this is our support for Child Environment Nepal (CEN). CEN is a non-government, non-profit organization committed to educating and caring for Nepali children orphaned by the Nepali civil war. Each year we contribute 10% of our annual profit to the organization. For more information on this inspiring organization or to find out how you can help, please visit at www.cennepal.org.np

Adventure travel done properly is not risky, but when not done properly things can go wrong - and very seriously so. Every year there are far too many deaths on the trails that could have been avoided had proper safety protocol been followed. Our safety record second to none. Our guides are trained in first aid and hygiene, first aid kits are taken on all trips and oxygen is supplied on higher altitude treks and expeditions. Our guides are highly skilled professionals who have been selected based on their technical proficiency, proven safety records, impeccable judgment and patient, supportive teaching styles. When it comes to keeping the overheads of our trips low, safety is one area we are simply not willing to

We're based in Kathmandu, but also operate in Bhutan, Tibet and India too. When we first started out on this journey, we were the only company to take a stand against the exploitation of porters and guides that was rife in the industry at the time (and to a large degree, still is). And as a result of this, most of our staff from the beginning has stayed with us all this time. Our leaders, Sherpas, cooks and porters work as a well-balanced team. We recognize them as the pillars of the company; we respect them, provide them insurance and equipment, guarantee them work, and pay them well. Our loyal, committed and experienced staffbase gives us the edge over our competition. In places like Nepal, money alone doesn't buy good service; only respect and trust, earned over years of working together, are what buy you a good experience. The upshot of this? You get to reap the benefits of the hard work we have put in over the years. And we get to keep doing what we love to do.

Environmental Sensitivity Annapurna (Ghandruk- Gherepani) & Dhaulagiri Cleanup Campaign We are keenly aware of the fragility of environment and cultures in which we tour and recognize our responsibility in maintaining them. After all, our business relies entirely on them and we plan to stay in business for a good while yet. All our staffs have been given environmental training and are all very sensitive to the delicate eco-systems we enter. "Take pictures, leave only foot prints" is our motto. We have launched a number of eco-projects in the last few years in co-operation with the Kathmandu Environment Education Project (KEEP). We're proud to say our last clean-up campaign at Dhaulagiri Base Camp removed 33,000 kilograms of tin, glass, batteries and cylinders from the area, and we also did The Annapurna (GhandrukGherepani) cleanup campaign. The sad truth is that most trekking companies are not environmentally responsible and these magical locales are suffering for it. Nevertheless we endeavor to be the role models for those around us and hope that our principles can contribute to awareness and change.

Client Care we’re well aware that there is only one reason why we are still in business after all this time; you. As such your well-being and satisfaction are our top priority. When you book with us we take care of everything. From carefully designing itineraries for proper acclimatization to upholding the most scrupulous sanitary standards in food preparation. Our guides are trained for remote emergencies and are well versed in local politics, culture and customs. We offer up-to-date pre-trip information, use only the best lodges, customize itineraries to suit your interests and cater to any dietary requirements. We have a fully staffed office in Kathmandu taking care of domestic flight ticketing, transfers, permits and visas. A member of our team will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival in Katmandu and see to all your needs. We worry about these things, so you don't have to.

Financial Protection Going on any adventure trip will require an often substantial sum of money be paid in advance. Yet trusting a company you have no prior experience with is a risk. We, however, are a fully bonded trek operator authorized by His Majesty's Government Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Nepal Tourism Board, the Industry Department, the Company Registration Office, the Nepal Rashtra Bank and the Taxation Office. In short, you can rest safe that your payment is secure with us.

Competitively priced The packages we have offer unbeatable value for money. But you don't have to take our word on it; we actually recommend our clients shop around to other trekking companies to try to find a similar package at a better price. Unlike international operators, being based in Nepal allows us to keep our overheads to a minimum, so we can offer the same facilities as those provided by a Western company at literally a fraction of the price. We worry about these things, so you don't have to.

No Group Too Small Most trekking and hiking tour operators only guarantee to run treks and hikes when a minimum number of people have signed up. Our minimum requirement for operation is one person, so you're free to start your trek whenever you like.

Mr. Gerald Lewinsohn’s experience while on Everest Base Camp Trek with us. Read more http://www.himalayanglac ier.com/blog

We think of our trip often because it was such an extraordinary adventure. Now that a few months have passed, the highlights of our trek to Everest stand out even more vividly in retrospect than they did at the time. In reviewing those highlights most people would expect us to wax poetically about the beautiful wooded countryside on the way to Namche. Also who could forget the scary crossings of those wonderfully engineered suspension bridges replete with their colorful prayer flags billowing in the breeze while far below the rapidly flowing bluishtinged glacier water (of the Dudh Khosi and Imja Khola rivers), twisted its way from up high, framed by steep cliffs on either side. Others would expect us to dwell on the Yaks, those magnificent creatures, unknown to most Westerners that can only survive in the rarified atmosphere in and above Namche and that are so important to the local economy. Yet others would cite the cultural aspects of the Bhuddists through whose villages we trekked and who made such an indelible impression on us with their spirituality, their gentle ways, and the warmth of their beautiful smiles. And of course who would not expect us to rave about the raw starkness and hostile remoteness of the legendary Himalayan peaks that brought us to the Khumbu region in the first place.
