An illuminated manuscript leaf. French, middle of the thirteenth century. Written in small Gothic hand in dark brown ink with glosses in red. A small miniature at the foot of the text in blue, red, green and gold, showing John, depicted in gold, preaching above the image of a dove standing on a banner with the name “Johannes.” Also a twentyline initial in blue, red, green and gold. Framed and matted. Fine condition. Size of frame 8 x 5 1/2 inches. $3,000-5,000 53
