This copy from the collection of George Kotsiopoulos, past president and director-at-large of the North American Falconry Association. Also, past-president and one of the founders of the Great Lakes Falconry Association. Being fascinated with the history of falconry, Kotsiopoulos amassed an impressive library of works on the sport of falconry and wrote extensively on the subject, with published titles including The Art and Sport of Falconry, (1969) and Falconry Uncommon, (1999), wherein Kotsiopoulos cited a number of works from his own collection. A large portion of the collection, including the present set, were acquired from the Awa No Kuni Bunko Library in Tokushima.

The “Tyrocinium” (or tirocinium) refers to the first military experience of a young man, and Pelliciari’s treatise was intended for the unseasoned recruits of a youthful state militia, some of whom may be forced to rely solely on the detailed illustrations provided.
