Why direct selling?

Co-founder and artistic director
L.J. have been a fashion fan since I was little. Fashion is my life! My mum was sewing all the time. She was always making clothes for my sister and I, and suited to our taste! It was like having our very own personal fashion designer. Fashion is in our DNA. :) My flair for sales came later... and what a revelation. This job was a great source of additional income while I was training to become a dressmaker. As a result, I was able to buy stunning fabric and leather for example. I discovered a real passion for sales. I love talking to customers, advising them and helping them to optimise their style. Clothes are senseless without a woman to show them off. Fashion, advice, human contact… that’s what guided my husband, Philippe Jacquelinet and I to start our own business. Direct selling seemed obvious. Because it’s the best way to create a relaxed, personalised and friendly shopping experience. Our adventure started on 3 July 1993 - the day we got married. It’s a particularly symbolic date because it also marks the beginning of Captain Tortue. It was a fabulous outcome for us both... Two avantgardist fashions fans.
What is your motto? L.J. I’m convinced that all women are capable of feeling beautiful if they choose clothes that suit them. My ambition is to give women advice about how to dress, regardless of their age, body shape or budget. And our network of super style consultants - real personal shoppers - are the ideal way to do just that! That’s the challenge we face every day. Our Collections are designed with passion and created with love in our style lab in Aix-en-Provence in the south of France. They are inspired by the women who wear them...they are our muses. That’s why we choose feminine, classical styles with positive colours in comfortable fabrics that are easy to wear.
What is your greatest source of pride? L.J. Our concept revolves around the Fashion Experience. The fashion experience with unique Collections. A fun and friendly shopping experience led by our fashion consultants. And finally, the experience of success. We are proud of our style consultants who are both gifted personal shoppers and canny businesswomen. Inspired and inspiring women who build their personal success story every day. Women are - and always have been - at the heart of Captain Tortue, whether it be in the design studio, at head office or in our executive committee. Philippe and I are extremely proud to have given so many women the opportunity to flourish. And we intend to continue. »

The Captain Tortue story began…. with an « I DO » And from great friends, their skills and expertise as a wedding present.

Shiny and new, the Captain Tortue team launches its new headquarters in Aix en Provence. 7400m² dedicated to fashion!

Something new and different is born with the launch of Miss by Captain Tortue, our first ladies fashion brand.

The Captain family celebrated 25 years! A quarter century of sharing fashion, and success!

Captain Tortue launched its App! Allowing consultants to register bookings, prepare for Pop-ups, reserve garments, order and pay. Everything is possible with just a click for our connected Style Consultants!

It seemed natural to contribute to the association for the fight against breast cancer. And not only in October, when the world goes pink to support this cause. But every day since 2016. We have raised €116,000 since we began.

In 2019, we launched a green campaign with Reforestaction. Thanks to your unprecedented efforts and investment by our hostesses, 2,575 trees have been planted in France.

The association “Solidarity with carers” created by Anne Roumanoff to source suitable medical equipment was the first to receive our support.
Digitising home selling
No more paperwork! Our goal? To go totally digital! No more printed contracts, most of our communication is electronic, and finally, our activity is digital with the Captain Tortue app.

Lilian created a T-shirt with the punchy slogan «We Care About U» to pursue our contribution by donating £10 /€10 to the Foundation for every T-shirt sold.
Limiting energy consumption and pollution
Neticenter, our new Tier III+ data centre uses 100% renewable energy and guarantees optimum security. To reduce our carbon footprint, we chose Netiwan, a local hosting service using 100% green energy.

We’ve given neutral, chic tones like ecru and dove-grey a fresh twist by combining them with bright, rich colours.
