1. KLEMM’S BAKERY

29 Indian Rock Road, Windham, 437-8810, klemmsbakery.com Family-owned since 1978, Klemm’s is known for its dozens of varieties of doughnuts, from plain cake or chocolate-frosted to inventive flavors like buttercrunch and maple cream.

2. BROTHERS DONUTS

426 Central St., Franklin, 934-6678, find them on Facebook @brothersdonuts Brothers Donuts has been making fresh hand-cut doughnuts for more than 35 years, including traditional flavors and some specialty options, like blueberry or apple cinnamon streusel, chocolate- or vanilla-dipped Oreo or Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

3. NEW HAMPSHIRE DOUGHNUT CO.

2 Capital Plaza, Concord, 715-5097, nhdoughnutco.com This custom doughnut shop opened its first location on Route 4 in Chichester in August 2019 before a second location arrived in downtown Concord’s Capital Plaza last year. The New Hampshire Doughnut Co. always features a weekly menu of specialty doughnut options, from Fruity Pebbles, lemon cheesecake or Nutello churro to maple bacon, Mexican hot chocolate and caramel sea salt.

4. CROSBY BAKERY

Pearl St., Nashua, Nashua, 882-1851, crosbybakerynh.com A fourth-generation-owned bakery in business since 1947, Crosby Bakery always has an available selection of freshly baked doughnuts, often featuring monthly specials like pumpkin spice frosted doughnuts in the fall and candy cane doughnuts around the holidays.

5. THE LOCAL MOOSE CAFE

124 Queen City Ave., Manchester, 232-2669, thelocalmoosecafe.com The Local Moose Cafe is known for offering a rotating menu of specialty doughnut flavors on weekend mornings, often experimenting with different flavor profiles and local ingredients. The maple bacon doughnut, for example, has featured locally sourced maple syrup and bacon from North Country Smokehouse.
