emembrance Day is a day to remember and reflect on our men and women who gave all for our country and our freedom. Most of us know someone who has served in the Armed Forces, including World War I and II, Korea, Afghanistan and many peace keeping missions. This Remembrance Day was the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I. We here, at His Grace Magazine, give thanks to all the veterans and their many sacrifices that they made for us and our freedom. Another great sacrifice of love happened over 2,000 years ago, when our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ the Son of God, was put on trial, whipped, beaten and crucified for us. His body was broken; His flesh shredded; He had nails going through His hands and feet; He was completely unrecognizable as He hung on the cross (John 19:1-3) 1. So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him. 2. And

Sacrifice

the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe. 3. Then they said, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they struck Him with their hands. Jesus died on the cross for us! He took all the world's sins upon Himself for us! (1 Peter 2:24) Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes you were healed. What Jesus went through was horrific while being crucified on the cross and yet He did that for us! He sacrificed all for us … so that we could have a loving personal relationship with Him. Here are ten Scriptures on Sacrifices. Praise God and thank Him for His grace and love…

Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 4. A demonstration of God’s Love Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 5. That we might live through Him 1 John 4:9 In this the love of God was manifested towards us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

6. Sacrifice is an everyday occurrence Romans 12:1 Beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you 1. God so loved the world present your bodies a living John 3:16-17 16. For God sacrifice, holy, acceptable to so loved the world that He God, which is your reasonable gave His only begotten Son, service. that whoever believes in Him 7. Atoning Sacrifice for all should not perish but have 1 John 2:2 And He Himself everlasting life. 17. For God did is the propitiation for our sins, not send His Son into the world and not for ours only but also to condemn the world, but that for the whole world. the world through Him might be 8. Everyone who calls… saved. Acts 2:21 And it shall come 2. No greater love to pass That whoever calls on John 15:13 Greater love has the name of the Lord Shall be no one than this, than to lay saved. down one's life for his friends. Romans 10:13 For "whoever 3. He was wounded for our calls on the name of the Lord transgressions shall be saved."

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.

9. With God on our side, how can we lose? Romans 8:31-39 31. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32. He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33. Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36. As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." 37. Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor

things present nor things to come, 39. nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 10. Thank You for Your perfect gift! 1 Timothy 2:5, 6 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6. who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

Sacrifice is such a huge part of our Christian faith; we are to sacrifice daily as we continue to live with the impact of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. The sacrifice that Jesus made covered all the sins of all the people all over the world forever with His blood. After Jesus’ death and His resurrection, it was finished on the cross. His blood that stained the cross and the ground covered us and because of that, by putting all our trust in Jesus every day, His blood covers us that we no longer pay the price for our sins. By going to Him, He will forgive us. We have opportunities every day to sacrifice time, money and energy to further God's kingdom and blessings on

Page 3

others. As we continue to sacrifice daily, we do this in the name of Jesus Christ who made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank You, Jesus for Your beautiful gift of Your selfless sacrifice! Thank You, God for Your absolute, perfect, indescribable, unspeakable amazing gift! Thank You for the wonderful hope that we have in You! I pray, Lord that our lives will always honor and glorify Your mighty name, Jesus.

Movie in Review...

Samson “Chosen, Betrayed and Redeemed

S

amson is a 2018 Biblical drama movie directed by Bruce Macdonald. This movie is inspired by the book of Judges. A narration starts off by telling us how the Hebrews had done wrong and were put into the hands of the Philistines who were brutal towards them. The Philistines are collecting food from all the Hebrews. Samson, from the tribe of Dan, and his brother Caleb are attempting to steal food from the Philistines. After being chased through the streets by soldiers, Samson returns home where his parents confront him, urging him to fight back against the Philistines since he was chosen from birth by God

to do so. However, Samson prefers peace and doesn't want to fight them. After leaving home, Samson hears of fighting going on between a strong Philistine and many Hebrews. Samson jumps in and defeats the Philistine. After his victory, he sees and falls in love with a Philistine woman named Taren. Samson heads home to tell his parents he is getting married to a Philistine woman. But their advice to him is not to marry a daughter of the enemy. Being very frustrated, he goes into the forest looking for a sign from God. While he is there, he comes face to face with a lion. He fights and kills it with his bare hands. Some time passes after he had killed lion when he finds delectable honey inside its body. At a wedding feast, Rallah, the prince of the Philistines lies to Samson and has him drink wine. This is against one of the three Nazarite vows.

After the wedding, prince Rallah kills Taren and her father in a fire. In his grief, Samson kills Rallah’s army of a thousand men with a donkey's jawbone. Afterwards, he returns to his village to have them swear him in

as their judge. Not long after, Samson meets Delilah and she shelters him. They quickly form a bond and eventually a relationship. Rallah convinces Delilah to trick Samson into telling her how he gets his power. Once he tells her, she cuts his hair. (In the Bible, Samson tells Delilah and she calls the Philistine men in to cut his hair). With his hair cut, he loses his power as that is the last vow to be broken. Prince Rallah blinds Samson and takes him away. Rallah, who is now king of the Philistines after killing his father and claiming the crown, has Samson brought out and placed between two pillars where he is chained. Samson prays to God for forgiveness and to be his eyes. He asks God for strength one last time. He brings the building down on them killing all the Philistines. At the end of the movie, we see a young David picking stones to fight Goliath which leads to David becoming Israel's second king. Starring: Taylor James, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Zane, Caitlin Leahy, Rutger Hauer, Lindsay Wagner. Director: Bruce Macdonald Producers: Bruce Macdonald, David A. R. White, Vlokkie Gordon, Elizabeth Hatcher-Travis, Craig Jones, Michael Scott, Brittany Yost, Alysoun Wolfe.

His Grace, November 2018

Page 5

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come into Your presence as Your children, mindful of our own failings; our thoughts, words and actions that have shown nothing of Your love. We remember the sacrifice of Your Son on a cruel cross so that we might know freedom from the guilt of sin and be made right again with our Creator. Thank you, loving Father that You are with us in our joys and our sorrows, the peaks and troughs of our lives. You understand our human nature. You know our hearts, feel our pain, know our anguish. Enfold us with Your love that we might know daily Your forgiveness and healing. We think of the sacrifice You made for us; pure Love freely given and poured out for our Salvation and for the challenge of the sacrificial life that Jesus calls us to live. In a world of self-seeking, of self-sufficiency, there is often very little space for love; Little time for giving or receiving. In the midst of living, there is real loneliness unnoticed by all but You. Give us discernment, Father to see people as You see them; to be Your love in this world; to be willing to give sacrificially of time and self; that others might know the depth of Your love. Lord, help us to be Your love in the world. All these things we ask in Jesus' precious name.

AMEN

Lauren Daigle Look Up Child...

auren Daigle over the last three years has been blessed with her music. In 2015, Lauren was a relatively unknown singer with a beautiful voice from Louisiana. But with her notable debut album, How Can It Be, she is the recipient of almost every award.

The awards include: Three billboard music awards, one American music award nomination, gold certificate for three singles and three K LOVE fan awards She has sold out her headline tours, also contributed with an original song from the Blade Runner 2049 sound track. She is also touring nonstop. Lauren is blessed in everything she touches recently with the lead single of the album "You Say" in at #1 spot within two weeks. So, after all is said and done, how does album #2 stack up? Look Up Child is a better album than her previous one. Her efforts on this album not only shows growth, but not at the expense of her fans who absolutely are in love with her last album. Lauren's album Look Up Child has the 26 year old exploring new territories. What is pleasing about that is her songs are going in a different direction. "Rebel Heart" is arguably the centre of the album; it finds her addressing God directly.

that covers over six minutes in length. This isn't some stretched out jazz song, but rather an enlightening song throughout to keep the listeners engaged deep into the hit.

She sings it as a heartfelt prayer with remorse. "Rebel Heart" is a piano-based song of worship as Lauren leads us into repentance and renewal with a stirring melody. To be able to listen to threads of the hymn "Take My Life" brings warmth to the song.

Those who loved the pop sound of past hit "Trust In You" will love "You Say" and "Losing My Religion" (Which is not a remix of REM, but this one is Lauren's original song).

Lauren, refusing to be stereotyped with the same sound, is stepping out with this album. She has made sure that all of her songs have a unique charm, sound and feel of its own.

I really enjoyed this album, it has everything for everyone to "Rescue" is another beautiful enjoy. It’s a great way to sit back song that finds it taking a new and worship the Lord with these direction. Viewed from the beautiful songs. Until next time, God bless you all, vantage of God, "Rescue" gives us knowledge of God and His from everyone here at His Grace. love for us in our hard times. The title song "Look Up Child", Look Up Child... which has a real old time African American Gospel sound to it, is 01 "Still Rolling Stones" "Rescue" directed towards the disheartened 02 "This Girl" with a simple gladness to look 03 "Your Wings" towards God in the midst of one's 04 05 "You Say" dark times. Branching off into a delightful song called "Your Wings", it has a Bob Marley style beat and sound to it; a reggae sound. Also, the song "Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus" enjoys a jazzy type remix

Remembering

Page 7

Do I remember when the wars began? No, yet my heart weeps for the loss of men War happens because of the freedom to fight; God’s people aren’t oppressed; they know when war is right History is filled with disagreements, fights and wars; Soldiers remember the corpses, the trenches, the scars They bled, died and killed for the land that they knew; They went to war because it was the right thing to do War brings losses and many disturbing horrors, God ensures the enemy will pay for their behaviors He doesn’t give approval for things that are wrong; Pray for wisdom and courage that war doesn’t linger on There are seasons for war and also for peace; It is good to pray fervently even for our enemies There is a time to love and a time to hate; A time to remember the soldier’s watch at the gate We will silence our souls on the eleventh of November; For the heroes who sacrificed; generations will remember Read: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

hat makes you feel shaken in your world? Have you become stressed by all the problems you’re facing or all the pain and hurt you’re feeling right now?

Although people are well educated, the suicide rate is up 24% since 1999. We have lots of entertainment and recreational fun but more people are taking their own lives.

Are you feeling the pain and hurt from your past, or maybe disappointed by the present? Are you worried about the future? If you are, you’re not alone; yes there is hope. You can live with all the security and purpose that you need.

In Unshakable Hope, Max Lucado shows us twelve of the Holy Bible’s most amazing promises, giving us the strength to rise above the difficult circumstances by keeping our focus on Jesus and the hope that is found in the promises of the scriptures, rather than continuing to dwell on the problems in front of us. For every problem in our lives, God has given us a promise.

People have no hope; they’re dying of lack of hope but there isn't anything that lifts the soul like the promises from God; His unshakable hope.

Psalm 9:

Prayer and Thanksgiving for the Lord's Righteous Judgments To the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Death of the Son." A Psalm of David.

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. When my enemies turn back, They shall fall and perish at Your presence. For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging in righteousness. You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever. O enemy, destructions are finished forever! And you have destroyed cities; Even their memory has perished. But the Lord shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment. He shall judge the world in righteousness, And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness. The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You. For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. Sing praises to the Lord, who

dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people. When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble. Have mercy on me, O Lord! Consider my trouble from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, That I may tell of all Your praise In the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in Your salvation. The nations have sunk down in the pit which they made; In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught. The Lord is known by the judgment He executes; The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten; The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever. Arise, O Lord, Do not let man prevail; Let the nations be judged in your sight. Put them in fear, O Lord, That the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah

of trouble? The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised. For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire; He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord. The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts. His ways are always prospering; Your judgments are far above, out of his sight; As for all his enemies, he sneers at them. He has said in his heart, "I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity." His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity. He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the secret places he murders the innocent; His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless. He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den; He lies in wait to catch the poor; He catches the poor when he draws him into his net. So he crouches, he lies low, That the helpless may fall by his strength. He has said in his heart, "God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will never see." Arise, O Lord! O God, lift up Your hand! Do not forget the humble. Why do the wicked renounce God? He has said in his heart, "You will not require an account."

But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, To repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless. Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man; Seek out his wickedness until You find none. The Lord is King forever and ever; The nations have perished out of His land. Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear, To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, That the man of the earth may oppress no more.

Psalm 11: Faith in the Lord's Righteousness

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

In the Lord I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, "Flee as bird to your mountain" ? For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do? The Lord is in His holy temple, The Lord's throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. The Lord tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind shall

Psalm 12:

Man's Treachery and God's Constancy To the Chief Musician. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David

How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him"; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men. They speak idly everyone with his neighbor; With flattering lips and a double heart they speak. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaks proud things, Who have said, "With our tongue we will prevail; Our lips are our own; Who is lord over us?" “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, Now We praise You, Oh Lord most High I will arise," says the Lord; "I will You have dealt mercifully with us set him in the safety for which he We confess and acknowledge Your ways yearns." Your protection is over the righteous The words of the Lord are pure We trust You, Oh Lord most High words, Like silver tried in a You are the rock of our salvation furnace of earth, Purified seven You reign and will judge the world times. You shall keep them, O Your Will be done here as in heaven Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever. We come to you, Oh Lord most High The wicked prowl on every side, For strength, purpose and meaning When vileness is exalted among In You we find shelter and deliverance the sons of men. Your Journey to God

Celia Deegan's Story "Help me." These two words burst out of the desperate heart of a four year old child and became the most powerful prayer I ever prayed. A fog has claimed most of the details surrounding the event itself, but certain things have remained perfectly clear involving my first real encounter with the presence of God. I imagined nothing. The presence I felt that night is the same now and as real to me today at age 51 as it was 47 years ago. Mine was a bad childhood from the very start. I was unplanned and unwanted pregnancy and my mother's opinion of me didn't change the day I was born. What I recall most about the first four years of my life is mostly just a complete absence of love and the acute awareness that my mother hated me. I was afraid of her. I was afraid to talk to her and I was most certainly afraid of the way she talked to me. I spent most of my time wishing that it was bedtime. At least there alone in the darkness and under my blankets, I felt safe. And sometimes, bedtime came earlier than usual and without supper. I never complained. A four year old heart can carry the heavy weight of pain without complaining as a learned coping mechanism, but there were times when I couldn't hold back the tears nor deny the desperation of living

in a cold climate of hostility. I am sure that we are born with the ability to survive anything and I am also sure that the awareness of being hated is absolutely heartbreaking for any child. I'm not sure that it was an actual panic attack but I am sure of one particular night when the ache inside my chest left me gasping for breath. I felt like I was going in and out of consciousness. The little I knew about life at that point left me with the impression that it was nothing I wanted to pursue. This may have been the closest I ever really came to giving up completely before the panic struck. Somewhere in there, as I struggled to breathe, I coughed out two simple words: "Help me..." I choked and I trembled and my little fists were tightly clenched around my blankets. Suddenly, in that moment, an incomprehensible presence of peace and love began to surround me. I began to breathe. The tears stopped. My heart rate slowed as a sweet sense of relaxation came over me. I began to smile, which is something I don't ever remember doing a lot of before that moment. I felt a profound sense of comfort and warmth wash over me and it was then that I felt His presence right there in that room with me. An incredible sense of joy filled my heart. I couldn't see Him, but I knew He was there. And I was in a total state of awe. I didn't know

Page 19

who He was but I knew He was real. I knew He loved me and I knew that I loved Him. This was my first real taste of true love, in its purest form. And in that moment, I knew that I would always be okay because something in that Divine Presence made me feel certain that I would never lose contact with what I encountered that night. And I never have, not even once, in all these years. In the days, weeks, months and years that followed, despite the storms that would come, I became a joyful child who rarely lost her smile. I'm not sure how it is even possible that a four year old could know in her innermost being that she had come to know and experience her Heavenly Father God, but I just knew. His ways are not our ways and the God I serve is able to open the eyes and the heart of a child to His presence. Of course He can, He's God! It no longer mattered who hated me because I had been touched with a love so incredibly Divine that no human love could ever compare to that. He became my purpose for living as I slowly came into the awareness of God, the Bible, the Church, other believers, etc. The night I met Him left me with an insatiable hunger to know more, to pursue Him for the rest of my life and to seek out the hurting and the broken with the message of God's love.
