HISTORIC MACON FOUNDATION TO HOST 34TH ANNUAL FLEA MARKET MACON, Ga. — Historic Macon Foundation will soon give Maconites a chance to find great deals on hidden treasure at its 34th annual flea market on Saturday, Oct. 15. The flea market will include thousands of items donated by the community. For more than two decades, almost 20 dedicated volunteers have worked each year at the flea market to support Historic Macon. The flea market's 13 sections feature everything from antiques and furniture to electronics and children's toys. Flea market donations are collected throughout the year and are stored in an 8,000-square-foot warehouse in Rose's Shopping Center on Shurling Drive. Volunteers and staff sort the items to their appropriate sections and then price each item. All proceeds support the historic preservation and neighborhood revitalization work of Historic Macon. The flea market will take place in Rose's Shopping Center at 668 Shurling Dr. on Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public. A members-only preview party will be held on Oct. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. and will include refreshments. Historic Macon members pay $25 to attend and have the first chance to purchase items. Non-members can join at the door to attend the preview party. "Historic Macon Foundation's flea market has become a Macon tradition, and it is a wonderful event that serves many purposes," said Barbara Boyer, this year's flea market chair. "Not only do customers get great deals on fantastic items, but they also support the work of Historic Macon."
