Landscape Architecture has not always been my passion, however the more I travel, the more drive I get to design something memorable. I’m always getting inspiration from places that make me feel warm and excited to be there. There’s something special about getting to shape the built environment. I’ve always dreamed of doing this— creating things. Every year of my life I explored something different, from making bracelets to opening an online t-shirt line, to my newfound love for embroidering. I want to continue to use my curiosity to dive into other fields, especially interior design and fashion. I believe they both are valuable to me as a person, and bring a different perspective into the world of landscape architecture. My love for art and photography is what originally brought me to landscape architecture. My painting portfolio is filled with different monuments in cities around the world. Some places I’ve been, and others I’ve dreamed of going to. I’m always capturing images of streetscapes and documenting what’s around me as I go about my day. It was then that I realized my passion. Although aesthetics are what brought me to this field, through volunteer work I’ve learned to love it even more. My connection to the community has grown knowing that the work we do makes a difference to people’s wellbeing. Designers are more influential in people’s lives than given credit for — and I’m honored to enter this profession.

01. PROJECT CHIMPS Fall 2019 Location: Morganton, Georgia Contributors: Canaan Dyer, Erensto Perez, Frank Zhang Project Chimps is a chimpanzee sanctuary, that houses over 200 chimpanzees. The Project Chimps Board approached the UGA College of Environment and Design with the desire to expand their facility and to put their 236 acres of forested land to good use. The program included a venue space around the existing koi pond that can be used for a Blue Ridge Mountain wedding. The site also features a chestnut grove which was determined to be a desirable site element. As designers, our goal was to create a picturesque space with a low ecological impact and a variety of plants. We also wanted to make sure that the venue would accommodate any size wedding, and be used throughout the year.

Project Chimps Master Plan One of the first modifications made was the pond shape since it limited the flow of foot traffic around the site. The chestnut grove was perfect for shade and seating, and fits varying party sizes. The strolling garden gives direction and a view while in the space. One of the major renovations was the deteriorating barn, which doubles as a ceremony space and cocktail hour and leading straight to the raised deck. Light Wooded Area

02. MOSSIDE Spring 2019 Location: Athens, Georgia Individual Project Mosside District is a mixed-use development featuring shopping, restaurants, apartments, and townhomes with various amenities. The complex provides two juxtaposing settings to experience, including suburban life and an exciting highrise with easy access to everything you could need. Townhomes located in the back of the site are more private, but have easy access to the lake and trail, which were influenced by the pre-existing features on the site. Mosside district is inspired by the combination of nature and the modern built environment. Elements like the living wall were inspired by biophilic design. The wall emphasizes using nature vegetation, natural light, and experiences of the area.

Multi-use Cut Through
After numerous site visits, we assessed what the best needs were for each area. The site was wooded, which I preserved as much as possible. The site conditions did not allow for construction in areas with slopes higher than 15%, which heavily influenced the placement of the multi-use housing and townhomes.

03. SATELLITE PLAZA Fall 2018 Coastal Setting Individual Project The circle is a universal symbol for unity, equality and infinity. Satellite Plaza was designed entirely around the “circle form. Taking inspiration from the moon, this plaza creates a centralized oasis that is a hub for people to relax and socialize. To accentuate the form, the paths also follow a curvilinear form. The vignettes peek into the site, showcasing the moongate entrance on both ends as well as the amphitheater seating around the crescent shaped fountain. The open lawn space is perfect for picnics with a view of the beach.

04. SOUTHERN BREWING COMPANY Location: Athens, Georgia Contributors: Jonathan Diaddigo, Minsung Kim Fall 2018 Southern Brewing Company is an Athens-born brewpub that is a vibrant place for any event, from picnics to concerts. The company’s focus is on creating a family friendly environment, and is centered around southern culture. As a client, the company came to our College of Environment and Design studio to redesign their outdoor space and to help address some site concerns. The goal of the redesign was to create a functioning and welcoming gathering space for the community, while maintaining their southern charm. My group members and I took advantage of the many existing site elements including a stage, and we turned a shipping container into a multi-functional area. SBC had a lot of open room that was not being used to its maximum potential, as well as a swale that was proving an obstacle. The proposed design took careful consideration of the constraints, and ensured that the design can be implemented easily by SBC.

Master Plan
Southern Brewing Company was lacking enough seating for all customers. Therefore our design allows for booths to serve as an intimate gathering space for small or large parties, and the private seating area provides a quieter atmosphere and draws people beyond the higher trafficked areas of the site. The fire-pit provides a relaxing social environment backed by a reclaimed wood wall, which is perfect for photos and branding and social media exposure.
