"Images" Flying Eagle and Indian Cent Collection U.S. Numismatic Experts Mike Printz, Robert Greenstein, Darren Hooper Imaging and cataloging - Mike Printz Layout - Aaron Berk

An exceptionally fine collection of Mint State Flying Eagle and Indian Cents assembled over an eight year period with 61 of the 62 coins purchased prior to August of 2002. The collector had a remarkably good eye for color and quality and it shows throughout the collection. The entire collection of Indian Cents is graded Red with the exception of one coin. Sixty five percent of the collection is in either Old Green Tag Holders or First Generation Blue Tag Holders. The collection was listed as Best in Category on NGC’s Registry, Indian Head Cents, 1859-1909, Circulation Issue and remained in first place for 5 years from 2005 through 2009. Even though there have not been any additions to the collection since 2007, the set currently remains in second place. Per the collector’s request, not a single coin has been resubmitted for upgrade attempt or crossover. Absolutely fresh to the market and offering some terrific opportunities. A few highlights:

Sincerely,

Mike

us69577 1856 FE, MS63, PCGS/CAC Snow-3, Obv. 1b, Rev. Bb. Still in the first generation blue tag holder. Exceptionally attractive golden-brown color with wonderful surfaces, full, satiny luster and no spots or prints. Not all 1856-dated Flying Eagle cents were struck in 1856. Rather, there were two striking periods: 1856 and 1857-1860. Only two of the nine known varieties were struck from dies originally produced in late 1856 to manufacture coins for Congressional approval. They include Snow-3 and Snow-5. Snow-3 is the rare die marriage that was struck in late 1856 per Rick Snow (The Flying Eagle & Indian Cent Attribution Guide, 3rd Edition, Volume 1, 2014) estimating that it accounts for only 20% of 1856 Flying Eagle cents extant. The author provides an estimated mintage from these dies of 700 pieces, with approximately 500 coins surviving in all grades. Examples are usually certified as Mint State instead of Proof by the major third party grading services as the strike is often weak in the center of the obverse and/or around the reverse periphery and the fields satiny instead of semi-reflective. This summation is 100% accurate regarding the coin offered here. Purchased May 2001. PCGS has graded just 42 with 51 graded higher (all Snow varieties including those as Proof). From the Images Collection of Indian Cents. CAC Verified and one of just 3 as such. $35,500
