前言
去年因疫情關係，戲院也關閉了一段時間，幾部電影也推遲了放映，所以延至今年 4 月才正式結束上一屆的香港 同志影展。今年，我們很想重新為你帶來一個完整的影展，讓你在 9 月好好享受我們所準備的 31 套電影與組合。 開幕電影方面，我們選擇了兩部喜劇：韓國的一部由金趙光秀製作。如果你是我們影展的粉絲，一定很熟悉他 的名字。2012年，我們放映了他的《兩個婚禮一個葬禮》，而他還拍下與伴侶金承煥的婚禮紀錄片《我的男男婚 禮》，更兩度參加我們的影展，這次再度公映他的新作，實是賞心樂事；台灣的則是莎士比亞式性趣浪漫喜劇《 揭大歡喜》，全女班演繹既尋親又說愛的輕鬆小品。此外，我們還有同樣來自寶島的「焦點導演」周美玲的幾部 傑作：最新力作《愛 · 殺》和經典三部曲《刺青》、《漂浪青春》與《豔光四射歌舞團》都一同在我們影展上放 映。想到大家都惦掛著閒遊寶島的感覺，因此特別在節目中帶來濃濃的台灣味道。 BL的電視劇和電影在過去幾年非常受歡迎，因此我們特別挑選了一系列來自日本、韓國和菲律賓的BL電影，滿足 眾多觀眾的慾望。國際電影方面，今年有不少我們選擇的電影都是亞洲首映。《我的外語老師》就是我其中大力 推薦的，當中除了男女主角演出精湛外，講述疫情與網上平台下發展的一段友情，題材可謂一時無兩。我的另一 心頭好《閃爆銀髮族》則由德國名演員 Udo Kier 擔綱出演。Z 世代可能對他有點陌生，然而他曾演過安迪華荷的 電影，也曾在麥當娜的書籍《性》和音樂錄影帶中出現，可謂經驗豐富。這次，他在電影中飾演退休化妝兼美髮 師，演藝精彩超凡，是一部令人開心釋懷的劇情片。
香港同志影展自2019年開展了「街坊．同志」，活動刻意地在並非我們電影節的 一般觀眾群出沒的地區及活動空間內舉行如藝廊、書店及旅舍。內容包括同志社 群人士真人分享及短片放映。目的就是在不同的社區內接觸更廣的觀眾層。如 果你有任何可以協助「街坊．同志」擴展的建議或連繫，可電郵至community@ hklgff.hk.
今年的閉幕電影《午夜天鵝》同樣震撼。影片找來上世紀90年代男團SMAP主角之一草彅剛扮演跨女角色，贏得 擊節迴響。去年，他憑這個角色獲得日本電影學院獎最佳男主角獎；職業芭蕾舞演員服部美咲的演出同樣令人驚 嘆，也獲得最佳新人獎。而最重要的是，這部電影獲得日本電影學院獎的最佳影片獎，所以你絕對不能錯過。 當下，是適應新常態生活的時候。我們將陸續為你帶來更多的活動，例如一如以往舉辦開幕和閉幕派對。在此同 時，我們更舉辦第一次的短片劇本創作比賽，誠邀你一展寫作潛能，詳情請翻到第43頁。派對方面，則請繼續留 意我們的 facebook 和了解場地的一些規定。 能夠在如此艱難時期依然努力舉辦一個讓大家享受的影展，我們的團隊實在感到興奮和自豪。懇請你多多支持我 們，也希望你喜歡我們精挑細選的電影和活動。 戲院見！ Having to endure postponed screenings because of cinema closures, and ending our last edition in April 2021, I am pleased to announce that the Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film Festival is back with a full program this year! After having cut down quite a few films last year, we have come up with 31 programs for the 32nd edition of HKLGFF!
Since 2019, “We are GAYbours” have connected with a wider audience all over Hong Kong with special neighbourhood screenings of short films and sharing sessions with LGBTQIA+ members. We have held the sessions at galleries, bookstores and hostels. Through “We are GAYbours”, we have been able to reach progressive non-LGBTQIA+ spaces, who have welcomed our programme. We’re opening the festival with two comedies. A Korean film, Made on The Roof by Jho, Kwang-Soo Kim. If you are a fan of HKLGFF, you will be familiar with his name. Our film festival screened his film Two Weddings and a Funeral in 2012 and Kim was in the cast of My Fair Wedding, a documentary about his wedding with his partner, David Kim. The lovely couple has attended our festival twice. The other opening film is from Taiwan, As We Like It, is a Shakespearean gender-bending romantic comedy with all-female cast in the film. We know you all miss traveling to Taiwan so we are bringing a sense of Taiwan in our program this year. Additionally, we have four more Taiwanese from the “Director in Focus - Zero Chau’’ program. Her latest work, Wrath of Desire and her classic films, Spider Lilies, Drifting Flowers and Splendid Float will be screened at the festival and she will be on-hand for a virtual Q&A. BL (Boys Love) TV drama and movies have been very popular the last few years. We have selected BL films from Japan, South Korea and the Philippines especially for you.. For international films, we have quite a few films that are Asia premieres. I highly recommend Language Lessons, a film that anyone could relate to during Covid time. The film mimics a series of conversations on Zoom. Both actor and actress performances are outstanding. I also love the film, Swan Song. Iconic German actor, Udo Kier, takes the main role, playing a retired makeup and hair stylist. For those generation Z probably don’t know who Udo Kier is, he was cast in the lead role of Andy Warhol’s film. He was featured in Madonna’s Sex book and music video. He is so fabulous in the film, and it is a joyful movie to watch. We have another Swan titled film, Midnight Swan which It is our closing film. You must know the lead actor, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi from 90’s boy band SMAP. He took on a transgender role and it paid off. He won the Best Actor award at the Japan Academy Film Prize last year. His co-star, new teen actress Hattori Misaki is also a professional ballet dancer who won the Best Newcomer award. She is absolutely stunning. The feature won Best Film as well. This is a film you can’t miss this year. We are adapting to a new normal life. We are bringing back more events such as the Opening and Closing parties. We have our inaugural Short Screenplay Writing Competition (flip to Page 43 for more details). For the parties, please keep checking our Facebook page for the venue regulations and updates. The late Edgar Ng and Henry Li
吳翰林與李亦豪 2017年，李亦豪與已故丈夫吳翰林於英國共諧連理。2019年，鑑於香港法律對海外結婚的同性伴侶，在公 營房屋居住權和財產繼承權等多方面都載有不平等待遇，吳於是提出兩宗司法覆核。 第一宗是針對本地的財產繼承法而提出的。吳得知在他沒有訂立供養遺囑而離世的情況下，李將無法繼承 他所購買的居屋單位。2020年9月，香港高等法院裁定吳勝訴，認為同性伴侶在本地法律下應享有與異性 伴侶一樣的無遺囑和受供養人財務方面的平等權利。不幸的是，吳在這項裁決後僅三個月就離世。其後， 李以申請人身份繼續尋求司法覆核，延續他丈夫在香港追求 LGBTQ+ 平權的遺志。

第二宗司法覆核同樣在2019年啟動，但直至2021年6月，香港高等法院才裁定，香港剝奪合法結婚的同性 伴侶共同擁有和居住「居者有其屋計劃」下的公營房屋單位的權利是非法和違憲的。吳和李於該居屋單位 同居時，一直因為他們的性取向而成為被匿名投訴的對象，亦不時擔心被逐出單位，導致吳和李患有慢性 焦慮和抑鬱等毀滅性的心理傷害。香港高等法院裁定，房屋委員會對李及其已故丈夫吳等 LGBTQ+ 人士 執行相關政策，具有「壓迫性的不公」，不能被視為實現房委會政策中家庭目標的合適手段。 今年年初，李因被剝奪以丈夫身份為吳籌辦身後事的權利，而就同性伴侶平權角度再次提出司法覆核。令 人心碎的是，政府在吳死後仍然拒絕承認吳和李的婚姻，為這段悲痛的經歷添上更多的不尊重和侮辱。李 堅稱，這些「公然歧視」性取向的政策違反《基本法》和香港人權法案中的平等條款。 我們影展的多位總監一致認為，過去兩年，吳和李成為眾人之焦點，且被人毫不留情地標籤為 LGBTQ+ 社 群平權主義活躍份子；然而，他們確實為香港 LGBTQ+ 社群，在爭取繼承財產、居住公營房屋和承認同性 伴侶等權利方面不遺餘力，為本地 LGBTQ+ 社群作出前所未有的正面影響。我們理解到，自吳去世後，這 條平權之路走來絕不容易，可是李繼續堅持為自己應得的權益而奮鬥，並最終爭取成功，這是確認香港同 性伴侶平等權利的一個重要里程碑。 玲瓏大獎，實至名歸！多謝吳翰林先生、李亦豪先生！ This year, the Prism Award honours the tireless commitment of Henry Li and his husband, the late Edgar Ng, in their struggle for LGBTQ+ equality in Hong Kong. When Edgar Ng and Henry Li married each other in England in 2017, they did not know that their private ceremony would become a matter of public debate - and would end up changing the legal fabric of Hong Kong. Under Hong Kong law, same-sex marriages do not enjoy the same rights as heterosexual ones. Edgar and Henry brought 2 judicial reviews - and Henry has brought a third - to fight that inequality. The first judicial review was submitted when Edgar discovered that the home he had bought could not be left to Henry if he died without a will - in effect, Henry was not recognised as his “spouse” under the city’s inheritance laws. In September 2020, the Hong Kong High Court ruled in favour of Edgar, and held that same-sex marriages should enjoy equal rights under local law on intestacy and financial provision for dependents. The second revolved around the ‘Home Ownership Scheme’ which allows married heterosexual couples - but not same-sex ones - to jointly own and live together in public housing units. When Edgar and Henry lived in public housing, they were the targets of anonymous complaints and lived in constant fear of eviction, solely because the government scheme did not recognise their marriage. In June 2021, the Hong Kong High Court ruled that it was unlawful and unconstitutional for the city to deny lawfully married same-sex couples under the ‘Home Ownership Scheme’. They also heard evidence of the devastating psychological damage suffered by the couple because of discrimination, and ruled further that the relevant Housing Authority operates on LGBTQ+ individuals with such “oppressive unfairness” that it cannot be regarded as a proportionate means of achieving the Authority’s policy aims. Sadly, Edgar did not live to see the second ruling, as he passed away in December 2020. His husband, Henry, continues his legacy of fighting for equality by launching a third judicial review. After Edgar’s passing, Henry was denied the right to organise his husband’s affairs as his spouse. Instead, the government continues to refuse to recognise their marriage, heaping indignity upon disrespect even as Henry grieves his husband. In his third bid, Henry argues that the city’s policies are “blatantly discriminatory” on the basis of sexual orientation and a violation of the equality provisions of Hong Kong’s Basic Law and Bill of Rights. The HKLGFF unanimously celebrates Edgar and Henry’s commitment and passion in their fight for equality and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in Hong Kong. Their victories in court are victories for all of us in our struggle for recognition and acceptance. Their courage in calling out discrimination is truly inspirational, and it is heartbreaking that they were forced to become activists when all they wanted was to live their lives together without fear. We wholeheartedly present the 2021 Prism Award to the late Edgar Ng, whose bravery in taking a stand is an inspiration to us all, and to Henry Li, who continues their fight for a more equal future.

Nagisa is a transgender woman working at a nightclub in Tokyo, where she performs a drag version of Swan Lake for the amusement of her clients. Her niece, Ichika, suffers from parental neglect. Since she needs the money, Nagisa agrees to take her in. Ichika develops a passion for ballet, and places herself in danger in order to finance her dance classes. When Nagisa realizes the talent Ichika has for dancing, she becomes determined to help her fulfill her dream of becoming a ballerina. Winner of multiple awards, including the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize for Best Picture, Midnight Swan is a powerful reminder of the importance of looking past appearances, and of pursuing our dreams.

Caz’s father, Gerlad, battles to understand and accept a trans son who didn’t show at his own mother’s funeral, and his erstwhile best friend also struggles to embrace Caz after he left town without any notice. Most affected, though, is Caz’s ex-boyfriend, as he tries to understand and forgive the woman with whom he planned a future, and work out if he is attracted to the man who has returned in her place.

周美玲導演多年來一直關注同志族群與性別議題，最為 人熟悉的電影長片作品，非台灣同志三部曲莫屬。首作 《豔光四射歌舞團》（2004）為台灣第一部以變裝皇后 為主題的劇情片；金馬獎一舉囊括年度台灣傑出電影獎 等共三個獎項。第二部曲《刺青》（2007）更獲柏林影 展泰迪熊獎殊榮。第三部曲《漂浪青春》（2008）推出 後，奠定了周美玲導演在同志電影界的代表性。有感於 大多數華人城市均非常保守，她在2017年開始推動「六 城彩虹」計畫：以同志彩虹旗的六種顏色為概念，在六 個亞洲城市拍攝六部同志題材相關影片。計畫中第四部 作品《愛．殺》（2020）除了以情慾驚悚為題材，還包 含許多與慾望、身體及性／別有關的元素，希望藉此啟 發觀眾探索自我。 Director Zero Chou’s cinematographic work about Taiwan’s LGBTQ+ community has gained her a solid national and international reputation. Perhaps most famous for her ‘Tongzhi Trilogy’ - Splendid Float (2004), Spider Lilies (2007) and Drifting Flowers (2008) - Chou has been awarded Outstanding Taiwanese Film of the Year and two other awards at the 41st Golden Horse Awards, and a Teddy Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. Lately, she has been devoting her time and energy to her Six Asian Cities Rainbow Project: a series of LGBTQ+ related stories happening in six different cities across Asia. Wrath of Desire (2020) - the fourth episode in the series - is a romantic thriller that examines the relationship between gender and desire, which also aims to encourage the audience to discover their own inner selves.

HKLGFF Short Screenplay Competition 香港同志影展 短片劇本創作比賽 HKLGFF has been showcasing the stories of the global LGBTQ+ community for 32 years. Now, we want to help the local community tell their stories through the power of film. We are holding the inaugural Short Screenplay Competition where your original work will be read by a panel of industry experts. Two winners will receive one-on-one mentorship from screenwriters, directors, producers and actors on how to turn their screenplays into films. Budding and veteran screenwriters are encouraged to submit creative, original and heartfelt stories, which reflect their unique voices and the diversity of LGBTQ+ lives in Hong Kong. The screenplays should be for a short film of up to 15 minutes. The works will be judged by the power of the story, and not solely on their commercial potential. Although HKLGFF will not be able to provide funding for the production of the films, we strongly encourage the winners to turn their scripts into productions. HKLGFF can provide a platform for the winning screenplays once they have been produced into films to be shown in future festivals, and advise on distribution, sales and festival strategies on the final films.

Ellen Pau
Ellen Pau likes to work behind the scenes, sound mixing and making photo collage in darkroom when she was young. After graduation from Radiology from Hong Kong Polytechnic, she and her friends founded an independent artist collective [Videotage] and [Microwave New Media Art Festival] to promote the new practices of media art. She has been working in the intersection of art, tech and science for over 30 years, and has curated numerous productions, exhibitions and conferences in Hong Kong and around the world. Pau was a member of Art Development Council and Acquisition Committee for M+. In 2001 she represented Hong Kong in the Venice Biennale as an artist.
Edmond Tong
阿Dee 湯駿業以香港演藝學院戲劇學院（榮譽）學士 畢業，主修表演，集演員、導演、編劇和監製於一 身。在學期間，曾獲傑出演員讚譽，並多次獲取成 龍慈善基金獎學金和毛俊輝獎學金。2003年成立風 車草劇團，現為該劇團之行政總監。曾經憑《廚師J 與侍應F》及《Q畸大道》（首演）獲提名第22及23 屆香港舞台劇獎最佳男主角（喜/鬧劇）、憑《修羅 場》及《尋常心》獲提名第24屆香港舞台劇獎最佳 男配角（悲/正劇） 。 Edmond Tong, Ah Dee, is an actor, director, playwright and producer. He graduated with honors from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in acting. He was recognized as an outstanding actor during his study at the HKAPA, Tong received the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation Scholarships and the Fredric Mao Scholarships numerous times. In 2003, he established the Wind Mill Grass Theatre and is the Executive Director of the theatre group. He was nominated the Best Actor in Leading Role (Comedy/Farce) in the 22nd and the 23rd Hong Kong Drama Awards, and the Best Actor in Supporting Role (Tragedy/Drama) in the 24th Hong Kong Drama Awards.

香港浸會大學電影學院研究助理教授。香港粵語片研究會及香港電 影評論學會會員，台大外文系畢業，香港大學音樂學博士，專攻華 語電影音樂與聲音。曾任鮮浪潮國際短片節評審、TIDF台灣國際紀 錄片影展初選小組委員。 Timmy Chih-Ting Chen is Research Assistant Professor at the Academy of Film, Hong Kong Baptist University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong with the dissertation “In the Mood for Music: Sonic Extraterritoriality and Musical Exchange in Hong Kong Cinema” (2016). Chen has published in A Companion to Wong Kar-wai (Wiley Blackwell), the Journal of Chinese Cinemas, Surveillance in Asian Cinema (Routledge), The Assassin (HKU Press), Frames Cinema Journal, and Sound Stage Screen.
