Schlosser Real Estate began in 1929 when my grandparents, Charles and Mildred Schlosser, purchased the southwest corner property on President and Grand Central Avenue in Lavallette. A two-story home, that also housed Whitelock Realty, stood on this property. While my grandfather opened a service station in town, my grandmother replaced the old Whitelock Realty sign with a Schlosser shingle and set out to use her business school degree and outgoing personality. Grandma was a pioneer of sorts in both the shore community and the real estate industry. During the great depression she and my grandfather set up accounts at the local grocery store for those neighbors who were less fortunate. My grandparents were also instrumental in the formation of the Lavallette First Aid Squad and Grandma helped form an organization of local real estate agents, a precursor to the Board of Realtors. Grandma succeeded and grew a vital and competitive company that changed with the times for the next 39 years until she retired and my parents, Charles and Lois Schlosser, took over in 1968. For the next 22 years they worked hard and sales and rental revenues quadrupled. Customers and clients seemed to truly appreciate the friendly and personalized service they worked hard to provide. Taking late night calls from panicked tenants or searching a crowded beach to deliver a message were not uncommon at Schlosser Real Estate. In 1990 my parents retired and I took over the company after having worked there for 10 years. Since that time technology has revolutionized the real estate industry and we at Schlosser have responded accordingly. Today, we have our own “tech master� helping us bring the latest marketing techniques to our business. And it certainly is one of the reasons we been able to market over $1,000,000,000.00 in local real estate sales. However, the basic concept behind our company has remained the same—make the customer happy, whether they are looking for a weekend rental or buying an oceanfront property.
