MYSTETSKY ASENAL INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP, Mystetskyi Arsenal: Spatial Development Scenarios, Canactions, Kiev. Right now there are plenty of art platforms, creative organisations, and cultural festivals arising. Young people stand up for their rights and dreams by creating a new identity for the country and for their generation. At the same time there is a SHORTAGE OF SPACE made available for creativity to take place, to allow for regular self-sustaining cultural projects that can operate independently from state funding and European grants. MYSTETSKYI ARSENAL PROVIDES THAT SPATIAL POTENTIAL. The Arsenal Friends Club is a start, its numbers have to increase. PORT REGENERATION The presence of water has a fundamental role in the urban development. Even if we speak on an economical level, or a symbolic one, the connection between the city and the waterscape define the quality of living.A strong element is an integrated development. As it was shown, not only the waterfront goes through a renewal process but the whole area that is between the water and the surroundings. The relationship with the water is related to the functions along the waterfront and especially on public spaces. The presence of people is directly correlated with the accessibility on the waterfront. When the pedestrian mobility is encouraged via promenades, bridges and the alternative transportation is promoted the waterfront becomes a highly attracted area. Usually the main factors that populate a certain area within the urban network are the activities described in three main categories: housing , employment and public attractions. Therefore a mix of functions achieve a strong urban structure.

STUDENT HOSTEL - KARLSRUHE, GERMANY

PARKHAUS Located in the campus area in Karlsruhe, the former parking buillding from the 70s nedeed a new a purpose as the city evolved. More and more students need an accomodation in the city, and as the parking building was empty and not use, the city officials give the site to a competition which resulted in a student hostel. The project is guided by three main points: Minimal impact -the structure of the building was a big challenge, but in terms of sustainability it was concerved as much as possible Reversibility - as the function of the building can can change in the next 30 years, the removal of the prefabricated slabs is a reversible process. Communication - a very strong element throught the concept was to realize a shared space at the ground level, and a good vizibility between different levels which are connected via bridges.

ARCHITECTURE INSTITUTE The Egon Eiermann foundation launched a contest for the German Architecture Institute. The proposal it`s located in Hafencity, Hamburg, the city of oportunities with intense development . The main concept of the project was to develope a building that is accesible by everyone with or without an architectural background.The Institute would be in close proximity of the new Hamburg Architecture University building (that can have common functions with the proposed building) and also to come in aid of connecting 2 districts through the help of the pedestrian bridge that continues the promenade alongside Elbe river. The building itself, has a strong connection with the water, and also a strong visual relation with the surounding area with the help of its glass and steel structure that also play a role in the passive heating system of the Institute.

RETROFIX - RESEARCH PROHECT

RETROFIX The main focus of the Retrofix project is oriented towards a sustainable architecture in an urban context, thus responding to the challenges launched by the European Solar Decathlon 2014 competition. The proposal targets the general public, with different financial situations: young adults, adults with children and the elder with a low income . The project branches in 3 distinct directions: Social-by creating common spaces connected by a green promenades on the roof terraces of the buildings, all accessible with the help of an elevator. Ecological-by implementing energy efficiency systems such as solar panels Economical-a more efficient thermal envelope that, with the help of other passive systems, reduces costs throughout the year for the people residing in those buildings.

RETROFIX - SOLAR DECATHLON EUROPE 2014

General aim To raise public awareness regarding sus¬tainability, environmental protection and the need for energy efficiency in order to reduce resource consumption is our main aim to accomplish. The renewable en¬ergy should become part of our daily life, and therefore individuals must understand how it is used.

Specific aims We aim at creating a strong and healthy dialogue between the academic environment which can provide the solutions for the inhab¬itant’s needs, the authorities who regulate all interventions, the local enterprises that can provide the material needed to achieve the solution and the inhabitants who are the ben¬eficiary of this project. Also, we need to build a trustful link between these parties and to raise the level of comfort of all the inhabitants.

FREE HOSTEL Reinterpretation of an existing summer school camp. The building is located alongside the Danube river, near Budapest. The transformation represent a microfactory, in a form of a free hostel. The area is well known for turism, so the building stand for a free of money stay. Instead of paying, the clients will have to do different choires to help the community to grow, where turists and locals will work and learn together. As the building belonged to the Faculty of Architecture from Budapest, the hostel will form a comunity which welcomes different workshops based on local materials and craftsmanship. The existing building achieved a clever reorganisation of different types of bedrooms, and the other functions such as kitchen, library, cafe, etc
