Pop Touched Me The Art of Rob Pruitt By Rob Pruitt Pop Touched Me: The Art of Rob Pruitt charts the highs and lows of art star rob Pruitt’s career – how he courted controversy as he rose to fame in the early ’90s alongside his then-partner, Jack early, and later secured his own place in the art world with shows including Cocaine Buffet, 101 Art ideas You Can do Yourself and Pandas and Bamboo. As one of the art world’s most provocative artists, Pruitt’s work has attracted critical attention for being consistently engaging while retaining a playful Pop aesthetic. Pop Touched Me, his first comprehensive monograph, examines the full scope of his development over the last two decades, extending beyond his conceptual art to include his painting, drawing, sculpture, textile and industrial design. Friends, fans, artists, and art critics – from Marc Jacobs and Mario Testino to Jeff Koons and richard Prince – all add context to the work by describing their own experiences with Pruitt and his SPECIFICATIONS:

The Song of Krishna The Illustrated Bhagavad Gita Translated by Sir Edwin Arnold With illustrations from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art The Song of Krishna: The Illustrated Bhagavad Gita is next in Abrams’ ongoing series of classic spiritual and philosophical texts. As part of the Mahâbhârata, one of the two great Hindu epics, the gita takes the form of a conversation between Krishna, the many-formed deity, and Arjuna, his kinsman, as the pair prepare to go into battle against a rival clan. Krishna’s moral counsel is often referred to as a concise version of Hindu philosophy, as well as a more generalised guide to leading a principled life. indian paintings, sculptures and textiles from the collection of the los Angeles County Museum of Art have been carefully paired with edwin Arnold’s classic english verse translation to create this handsome volume, with a three-

American Modern By Thomas O’Brien With Lisa Light Photographs by Laura Resen Designer and merchant, collector and tastemaker, Thomas O’Brien has made a career of translating cool notions of modernism into an easy and generous array of modern styles that anyone can attain. Now he introduces readers to a range of those styles – from casual to formal, vintage to urban – alongside stunning photography and charming design stories. O’Brien carefully describes the design process of his chosen projects, including a city loft, a traditional estate and a converted schoolhouse. Each home explores a view on the modern design spectrum he has created, as well as the individual choices that make the design unique. O’Brien explains not only what was at work to create a given style, but how readers can import those practices to their own homes and personal design sensibilities. Jackson Pollock By Ellen G. Landau
Now Back in Print!
this compelling and definitive Abrams classic, now back in print, locates pollock in the continuum of
his times, recreating the social and cultural milieu of New York in the 1940s and 1950s. How did Jackson pollock become a cult figure for the Beat Generation? And what caused his reputation to continue to soar? With extensive knowledge of pollock’s habits (much of it gained through interviews), his reading, his conversation and the exhibitions he visited, the author retraces many of the far-flung sources of pollock’s work. A wealth of comparative photographs that illustrate paintings by artists pollock admired further explains the work of this complex, tragic and immeasurably influential figure. pollock’s big, bold canvases are reproduced in five colours to convey the brilliance of his network of tones, his aluminum paint and his sparkling collage materials. six gatefolds show his vast horizontal works without distortion and a chronology provides a summary of the

Swoon Introduction by Jeffrey Deitch Essays by Caledonia Curry, Lisa D’Amour, Thomas Beale, Rollo Romig and others this first monograph on the street artist swoon is a crash course on the incredible range of her diverse artistic practices. Filled with brilliant colour photographs, the book brings the reader to streets around the world to see her life-size prints and paper cutouts that transform as natural elements slowly erode and destroy them. it travels across the waters to include striking images from her most recent projects, swimming Cities, which show a team of craftsmen scavenging junk to create makeshift boats that are part floating artwork, part performance and part experiments in communal living. and it invites readers inside her art collective, toyshop, which orchestrates organic public theatre that includes everything from street parties to public demonstrations. Woven together seamlessly, and accompanied by essays from fellow Deitch, this book showcases the work of

The Selby Is in Your Place By Todd Selby Introduction by Lesley Arfin The Selby Is in Your Place was conceived when fashion and interiors photographer todd selby began taking portraits of dynamic and creative people – authors, musicians, artists and designers – in their home environments and posting them on his website. Nosy by nature, he wanted to see how personal style was reflected in private spaces. Lucky for us, he found his answer in the colour-rich and eclectic quarters of a diverse group of subjects, including simon Doonan and Jonathan adler, Faris Badwan, helena Christensen and olivier Zahm, in New York, Los angeles, paris, tokyo, sydney and London. Each profile is accompanied by selby’s watercolour portraits of the subjects and objects from their homes, and illustrated questionnaires, which selby asks each person to fill out. The Selby Is in Your Place consists of over thirty profiles, many of which have never been seen, selected exclusively for the book. the result is a collection of unique spaces bursting with energy and personality that together create a colourful hodgepodge of inspirational interiors.

Introduction by Matt Groening
What would happen if the planet Express crew and the citizens of New York City in the 31st century met the simpsons and the citizens of springfield . . . and how is it even possible? prepare yourself for a simpsons saga filled with Futurama! a Futurama fable suffused with the simpsons! Featuring a plethora of pleasing plot devices including: evil brain spawn, lactose-intolerant space aliens, a giant ball of yarn, flying cars, mistaken identities, world domination, the brittle fabric of reality torn asunder, a comic book–collecting sentient planet, the Dewey decimal system, self-eating watermelons, slave labour, space pirates, power-crazed vampires, super-hero battles, unflattering underwear, mad science run amok and much, much more! this is the epic story that you’ve been waiting for . . . a story so big, so ambitious, so sweeping that it can only be told in a 208-page, large format, slip-cased edition, complete with new material, supplemental stories, preliminary sketches, character designs and a pin-up gallery featuring the talents of comics industry luminaries alex ross, sergio aragonés, geof Darrow, Kyle Baker, peter Kuper and Bernie Wrightson among others. it’s a comic convergence on a reality-ripping, time-altering, space-traveling intergalactic scale! it’s The Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis – uncut and all comedy! First published in 2002 and 2005 as two two-part comic book mini-series (Futurama/Simpsons Infinitely Secret Crossover Crisis and The Simpsons/Futurama Crossover Crisis II), these four hard-to-find comics are collected together for the first time in a hardback collection, encased in

The long-anticipated monograph on the creator of the groundbreaking comic book Love and Rockets
By Todd Hignite Introduction by Alison Bechdel in 1981 three mexican-american brothers self-published their first comic book, Love and Rockets, and ‘changed american cartooning forever’ according to Publishers Weekly. over 25 years later it is still being published to critical and commercial success. Jaime hernandez’s moving stories chronicle the lives of some of the most memorable and fully formed characters the comics world has ever seen. his female protagonists, masterfully delineated with humour, candour and breathtaking realism, come to life within California’s mexican-american culture and punk milieu. in april 2006 hernandez began serializing his work in the New York Times Magazine – all of which is collected here in full colour. the notoriously private artist has opened his archives for the first time, revealing never-before-seen sketches, childhood drawings and unpublished work, alongside his most famous Love and Rockets material, much of it photographed in colour from the original art. Art in Time Unknown Comic Book Adventures, 1940–1980 By Dan Nadel Art in Time is the companion to Dan Nadel’s harvey award–winning book, Art Out of Time. in this unique volume, Nadel focuses on the lesser-known comic works by celebrated icons of the industry, such as h.g. peter (the artist behind Wonder Woman), John stanley (the writer and artist for Little Lulu), harry Lucey (one of the artists behind archie), Jesse marsh (the artist for tarzan), and Bill Everett (best known for his characters sub-mariner and Dr. strange). Art in Time reprints complete comic book stories that represent some of the best but obscure adventure stories from the 1940s through the 1980s. Each comic highlights the fully developed style of the artists and celebrates these little known comic gems. Art in Time is designed as a reading book, allowing fans to catch up on some fascinating, but forgotten work in comics history. SPECIFICATIONS: • 300 full-colour illustrations

The perfect gift for Lego lovers young and old
I LEGO® N.Y. By Christoph NiemaNN
I LEGO® N.Y. is an imaginative look at life in New York City constructed entirely out of LEGO pieces. Designer and illustrator Christoph Niemann was inspired to create a series of miniature New York vignettes out of his sons’ toys after a few cold and dark winter days in Berlin. The former New Yorker then posted photographs of his creations along with his handwritten captions on his New York Times blog. Resident and honorary New Yorkers around the world responded enthusiastically to the clever and minimalist inventions, which captured both the iconic (the Empire State Building) and the mundane (man standing on a subway platform) in fewer pieces than one might think possible. This book includes all of the original images, plus thirteen new creations. The resulting collection is delightful in its simplicity and moving in its ability to capture the spirit of life in New York in so few strokes. Christoph NiemaNN is an award-winning illustrator
and children’s book author. He is a regular contributor to The New Yorker, Wired and the New York Times. He has won numerous awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Art Directors Club and American Illustration. He is the author of two children’s books, The Pet Dragon and The Police Cloud.

All presented in a colourful, easy-to-follow format with lots of eye-grabbing photos, sidebars, lists and Q&As. From an acclaimed photographer, a joyful portrait of one of the most vibrant beaches in the world
Jones Beach By Joseph sZaBo Introduction by ViNCe aletti
‘I’m over the top about Joe Szabo’s photographs . . . A lot of people will be inspired by his beautiful pictures’. – Bruce Weber Beginning in the early 1970s, Joseph Szabo started capturing the melting pot of humanity on New York’s Jones Beach, one of the busiest beaches in the world with more than six million visitors a year. Among the sea of bodies, Szabo’s camera reveals moments of both quiet introspection and unashamed exuberance. Images of tanned muscle men, catwalk-like displays of beach wear, heavily oiled skin, masses of sprayed hair and shy adolescents all reveal the dynamics of the beach so close to New York City. Class, race, and other potential divisions are temporarily forgotten, and the perfect and the flawed are portrayed with the same respect and tenderness. Szabo is an internationally acclaimed artist whose last two books (Teenage, Almost Grown) have influenced and been admired by a whole generation of photographers and created a cultlike following in the worlds of fashion, advertising and photography. Young and old alike will treasure this funny, sexy, lovely volume created over 35 years. Joseph sZaBo taught photography at a Long Island,
NY, high school from 1972 to 1999, as well as at the International Center of Photography in New York for more than 20 years. His work resides in many permanent collec80 black-and-white photographs

An outrageously funny collection of people’s worst, most embarassing and weirdest sex stories
Worst Laid Plans When Bad Sex Happens to Good People By aleXaNDra lYDoN and laUra KiNDreD
‘When bad sex happens to good people, there is no recourse like full disclosure’, is the motto of Worst Laid Plans, a collection of forty probably too intimate, but shockingly funny, true-life tales of lust gone wrong. The stories are divided into themed sections including Foreign Affairs (‘When bad sex goes abroad’), Self-Help (‘Love thyself . . . but do it carefully’), On the Rebound (‘The art of getting back in-and-out-there’), and Mob Mentality (‘People will do things in groups they would never do alone’), among others. The book evolved out of a storytelling event originally staged at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, the highly influential comedy organization co-founded by Amy Poehler, who along with Janeane Garofalo and Saturday Night Live’s Casey Wilson, performed at the show that continues today. Part Vagina Monologues, part car crash and wholly hilarious, the volume features sidesplitting contributions

ents with crazy requests from their bunk, P.S. I Hate It Here will delight with hilarious and heartwarming real-life letters. In the bestselling tradition of nostalgic looks at classic rites of passage, such as Bar Mitzvah Disco and Camp Camp, P.S. I Hate It Here captures a childhood experience shared by millions. This collection of real letters written by children aged eight to sixteen to their families about their adventures at summer camp are laugh-out-loud funny and will have readers reminiscing about their own camp days. More than 150 letters cover all the imaginable scenarios of sleep-away camp, from acing the cabin lice inspection, to rowing in the ‘ricotta’ race, to breaking the bad news about a retainer lost in the wilderness. These letters reveal that kids are wittier and more sophisticated than we might assume, and that the experience of being away from home for the first time creates hilarious and lasting memories. 23 Original Quilt Designs By Kaffe Fassett with Liza Prior Lucy Photographs by Debbie Patterson In Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts, world-renowned quilter Kaffe Fassett demonstrates how basic geometric forms – squares, rectangles, triangles, diamonds, circles and quarter-circles – found in natural and manmade environments inspire his quilt designs. Twenty-three of his magnificent, inventive quilts – ranging from the relatively simple Tilt, ideal for beginners, to the more complex Circle of Stars, for more advanced stitchers – are showcased in the book, along with step-by-step instructions for making each one. Along the way, Fassett also offers more than a hundred photos of geometric inspiration from around the world – everything from triangular watermelon slices, to rectangular sheets of metal on African scrap dwellings to lollipop-shaped topiary trees in Japan. In the accompanying text, Fassett reveals how he experiences the colours and basic shapes around him, how we can train our own eyes to see this rewarding source of creativity, and how we can, just as he

Golf Girl’s Little Tartan Book How to Be True to Your Sex and Get the Most from Your Game By PATRICIA HANNIGAN
Play like a girl and win with this fun, sexy guide for women who want to swing with the boys Dreq to Addreq Instead of feeling insecure about the bootyful posture, I own it. I’m particularly fond of flouncy skirts with pleats, ruffles, or piping, and built-in bloomers. I have a couple of skirts whose undergarment is in a contrasting color, or is edged in one: lavender on dark purple, pink with turquoise trim. If, when I address the ball, ce n’est pas élégant, I guarantee that flash of color will keep everyone from noticing my less-than-perfect swing!

Jean-Luc Mylayne English-French Edition By Ralph Rugoff and Terrie Sultan From 5 Continents Editions ‘It’s a peculiar and supremely deliberate technique, honed over three decades, and it results in some of the most sumptuous and fresh photographs I’ve ever seen’. –Time Out New York Since 1976, French photographer JeanLuc Mylayne has travelled the world in search of birds to photograph. His quest begins with a long, patient period of observation and culminates in a single image – Mylayne does not believe in capturing his subject twice. In thirty-three years, the artist has taken no more than 300 photographs. Mylayne, who defines himself as a film director, is extremely precise in constructing what he calls his ‘scenes’, taking into account a number of variables, like the season or the time of day. Mylayne’s process, the tentative approach of the bird, and the dialogue between artist and subject present thought-provoking questions on the nature of time. Published in conjunction with an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary

Marlène Mocquet English-French Edition By Thierry Raspail, Hervé Percebois, Judicaël Lavrador and Hugues Jacquet From 5 Continents Editions Playful, hallucinogenic, obsessive and fantastic, Marlène Mocquet’s paintings are striking for their spontaneity and freedom. Drawing on art history – from Symbolism to Surrealism to Expressionism and action painting – as well as on more contemporary images from the world of manga and cartoons, her explosive paintings, populated with animals, monsters and anthropomorphic objects, lead viewers into a dreamlike universe. Part Tim Burton, part Betty Boop, part Takashi Murakami, Mocquet’s singular faux-naif style is unforgettable. In the first monograph dedicated to this up-and-coming artist, more than 100 of Mocquet’s paintings are stunningly reproduced. This volume is published in association with the artist’s exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lyon, France. Marlène Mocquet is a captivating SPECIFICATIONS: • 77 full-colour illustrations

Tracing the Past, Drawing the Future Master Ink Painters in Twentieth-Century China Edited by Xiaoneng Yang With contributions by Richard Vinograd, Lang Shaojun, Pan Gongkai, Kuiyi Shen and Zaixin Hong From 5 Continents Editions Tracing the Past, Drawing the Future examines a crucial turning point in the development of Chinese ink painting in the 20th century, a change represented by the beautiful and innovative work of four artists, Wu Changshuo (1844–1927), Qi Baishi (1863–1957), Huang Binhong (1864–1955) and Pan Tianshou (1897–1971). With careers spanning over a century of radical change in China, these artists propelled the ancient tradition of Chinese ink painting into the modern era in the face of compelling Western influences. Chinese Trade Ceramics for Southeast Asia Collection of Ambassador and Mrs. Charles Müller By Monique Crick From 5 Continents Editions Known for their beauty, subtle colours and astonishing forms, Chinese export ceramics are some of the most exquisite and delicate works of art ever created. In this extraordinary book, a wide range of porcelain created and decorated exclusively for export to Southeast Asian markets – not to the West – is presented in vibrant photographs. These fascinating pieces, from the Müller Collection in Geneva, are finely crafted objects, many designed for daily use: plates, cups, saucers and teapots. The richly illustrated essays trace the evolution of Chinese ceramics produced expressly for export, from the so-called swatow porcelain to the translucent pale green gres of the Song and Yuan period (11th–14th centuries) to the famous blue-

British Design MoMA Design Series Introduction by Paola Antonelli Text by Hugh Aldersey-Williams From 5 Continents Editions Great Britian was the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and the epicenter of the development of modern industrial design. This book – the fourth volume in the MoMA Design Series featuring works in the Museum’s collection – explores this legacy, tracing the growth of British design from the eighteenth century to the Millennium Dome and beyond. In its more than 200-year scope, British Design explores the Arts and Crafts Movement, the Spitfire and Hurricane fighter planes of World War II, the Mini car and Dyson vacuum cleaner, the ‘Cool Britannia’ cultural explosion in the late 1990s and British designers’ take on the digital devices that define entertainment and communication in the early 21st century. An introduction by Paola Antonelli provides an overview of design culture in Great Britain and an essay and timeline by Hugh Aldersey-Williams

BLACK ELK’S VISION A Lakota Story By S. D. Nelson The only picture book that tells the amazing true story of Black Elk Told from the Native American point of view, Black Elk’s Vision provides a unique perspective on American history. From recounting the visions he had as a young boy, to his involvement in the battle of Wounded Knee, as well as his journeys to New York City and Europe with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show, this biographical account of Black Elk – an Oglala-Lakota medicine man (1863–1950) – follows him from childhood through adulthood. S. D. Nelson tells the story of Black Elk through the medicine man’s voice, bringing to life what it was like to be Native American in the mid-to latenineteenth century and early twentieth century. Through it all, Black Elk clung to his childhood visions that planted the seeds to help his people – and all people – understand their place in the circle of life. The book includes archival images, a timeline, a bibliography, an index and Nelson’s signature art.

At the end of the day, all the villagers look out their windows for a special surprise from their dragon neighbors. Readers will pore over illustrations filled with the same unexpected, warm humour of Boni Ashburn and Kelly Murphy’s first book, Hush, Little Dragon.

MAMMOTHS AND MASTODONS Titans of the Ice Age By Cheryl Bardoe • In association with The Field Museum of Chicago Brand-new evidence and theories come to life when a frozen baby mammoth is unearthed. Mammoths and mastodons roamed the earth for millions of years, and then suddenly went extinct. What was everyday life like for these colossal cousins of the modern elephant? What did they eat? Why did they disappear? These questions and more are answered in this fascinating book that presents the latest research, drawing on the recent discovery of a fully frozen baby mammoth – which has allowed scientists to learn more than they ever could have known just from studying bones. Mammoths and Mastodons features photographs of fossil site digs, scientists at work in the field and in

DEAR PRIMO A Letter to My Cousin By Duncan Tonatiuh A debut picture book by an exciting new artist that focuses on how letter writing can open new worlds From first-time Mexican author and illustrator Duncan Tonatiuh comes the story of two cousins, one in America and one in Mexico, and how their daily lives are different yet similar. Charlie takes the subway to school; Carlitos rides his bike. Charlie plays double dutch on the sidewalk; Carlitos plays among the local cacti. Dear Primo covers the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of two very different childhoods, while also emphasizing how alike Charlie and Carlitos are at heart. Spanish words are scattered among the English text, providing a wonderful way to introduce the language and culture of Mexico to young children. Inspired by the ancient art of the Mixtecs and other cultures of Mexico, Tonatiuh incorporates their stylized forms into his own artwork. The book includes a glosary of Spanish words.

MY FRIEND MAYA LOVES TO DANCE By Cheryl Willis Hudson Illustrated by Eric Velasquez Young dancers will twirl and leap as they read about Maya A young narrator tells readers about her friend Maya, who absolutely loves to dance. In this rhyming picture book, Maya attends a lively dance class. She can’t get enough of dance: the costumes, the grand entrances, the pirouettes, the music, the final bow and the magic of recitals. She even loves the hard work of practice. But Maya isn't dancing just for herself. Her friend the narrator plays a role, too. The pages themselves seem to dance, thanks to the charming verse of Cheryl Willis Hudson and the vibrant colours and motion of Eric Velasquez’s paintings.

JUST LIKE MAMA By Lesléa Newman Illustrated by Julia Gorton The perfect book for a mother and child to share on Mother’s Day and throughout the year Just Like Mama is a beautiful testament to the love between mother and daughter, and especially how, in a child’s eyes, a mother does everything perfectly, from cooking to playing to simply loving. There are some things that no one can do as well as a mum. ‘A pile of pancakes, each shaped into a moon, and cocoa with a cloud of cream, stirred with her special spoon. Nobody cooks breakfast just like mama’. Nor garden, host tea parties, cook supper or tuck her child into bed. No one does it just like Mama can. And in the end, nobody loves Mama just like her little girl does.

MAMA, IS IT SUMMER YET? By Nikki McClure A beautiful book about appreciating nature and the change of seasons – from cut-paper artist Nikki McClure, illustrator of the breakout bestseller All In a Day Young children see the passage of time through the seasonal changes to the world around them in this charming book, illustrated with Nikki McClure’s extraordinary cut-paper art. A little boy who can’t wait for summer asks his mama, ‘Is it summer yet?’ Mama says, ‘Not yet, little one’, then points to the signs that spring is turning to summer – the softening of the earth, the nest-building of squirrels, the singing of birds – and encourages her son to savour the beauty of spring. Following the success of All in a Day, Nikki McClure once again uses her paper cutouts to create timeless images of nature and family, showing

An Excerpt from
Oh yeah, one other thing I almost forgot about: Dwight. Dwight is the guy who carries Origami Yoda around on his finger. The strangest thing about Origami Yoda is that he is so wise even though Dwight is a total loser. I’m not saying that as an insult. It’s just a fact. Dwight never seems to do anything right. Always in trouble. Always getting harassed by other kids. Always picking his nose. Always finding a way to “ruin it for everyone,” as the teachers say. If he could just listen to Origami Yoda’s wisdom, like the rest of us, he would have it made. But no, he ends up barfing in class because he ate thirteen servings of canned peaches at lunch, or stealing a girl’s shoe, or wearing shorts with his socks pulled up above his knees.
He even manages to turn his good points into loser points. See, he is the total origami master of our school. First he made cranes and frogs and all that, then he started inventing his own stuff. Origami Yoda is not just a perfect paper version of Yoda, it’s also Dwight’s own design. He’s not the first person in the world to make an Origami Yoda, of course. There are a bunch of them on the Internet. But Dwight didn’t download instructions; he actually created his own Origami Yoda. But it’s one thing to make a paper Yoda, and it’s another to ask people to talk to it. That’s what makes him a loser. You can’t go around school with a paper Yoda on your finger talking to people. I bet even Origami Yoda would tell him that, if he would just listen.

THE STRANGE CASE OF ORIGAMI YODA By Tom Angleberger This quirky novel by an exciting new talent is one part mystery, one part school story and one part celebration of the wisdom of Yoda! In this funny, perceptive exploration of the dynamics of a school class, Dwight, a loser, dispenses surprisingly good advice to his classmates via an origami finger puppet of Yoda. Origami Yoda predicts the date of a pop quiz, guesses who stole the classroom Shakespeare bust and saves a kid from popularity-crushing embarrassment. Is the puppet tapping into the Force? Dwight’s classmate Tommy decides to investigate, to figure out how Yoda can be so wise when Dwight himself is so clueless. With contributions from his puzzled classmates, he assembles the case file that forms this novel, and discovers that greatness sometimes comes in unlikely packages.

ANXIOUS HEARTS By Tucker Shaw An epic romance by the bestselling author of The Girls ‘Evangeline’, he repeated, calling at a whisper. ‘Evangeline’. He was not calling that she may hear, he was calling that somehow her soul might know that he was devoted entirely to her, only to her. ‘Evangeline, I will find you’. Eva and Gabe explore the golden forest of their seaside Maine town, unknowingly tracing the footsteps of two teens, Evangeline and Gabriel, who once lived in the idyllic wooded village of Acadia more than one hundred years ago. On the day that Evangeline and Gabriel were be wed, their village was attacked and the two were separated. And now in the present, Gabe has mysteriously disappeared from Eva. A dreamlike, loose retelling of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s famous love poem ‘Evangeline’, Anxious Hearts tells an epic tale of unrequited love and the hope that true love can be reunited.

THE FIZZY WHIZ KID By Maiya Williams A funny, sympathetic look at instant fame, by an author who knows Hollywood from the inside Readers will laugh along with all the misadventures – and sneak a peek behind the Hollywood curtain – in this sweet and funny novel. When Mitchell Mathis moves to Hollywood, he soon realises he’s the only ordinary kid in a school of the powerful and famous. There’s Skywalker Wong, whose parents are special effects gurus. And Julia Jodie Schwartz, named after her agent father’s two highest-earning clients. In an attempt to feel like less of an outsider, Mitch goes to an open casting call, where he ends up being cast in a soda commercial that launches a popular catchphrase. Suddenly he’s on TV, signing autographs, and riding in limos. But when the ad starts getting negative attention and he doesn’t have time for his old friends and interests, fame doesn’t seem like so much fun anymore. He’ll need all his ‘acting’ skills – and the help of his Hollywoodsavvy classmates – to figure out how to go back to being a normal kid again.
