Safety Delivered

Welcome to the 33rd Where it all started‌

Royal Dutch Shell, commonly known as Shell, is a British-Dutch oil and gas company headquartered in the Netherlands and incorporated in the United Kingdom. Shell is vertically integrated and is active in every area of the oil and gas industry, including exploration and production, refining, transport, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, power generation and trading.

Aim We aim to meet the energy needs of society in ways that are economically, socially and environmentally viable, now and in the future. Learn about our business and people, which grew from a small shop in London nearly 200 years ago to become a major energy company.

Environment We carefully consider the potential environmental impact of our activities and how local communities might be affected during the lifetime of a project. We aim to comply with all applicable environmental regulations, continually improve our performance and prepare for future challenges and opportunities. Our global environmental standards include requirements for managing our emissions, minimising our use of fresh water and conserving biodiversity. Within our operations, we also focus on reducing our energy use, flaring less gas and preventing spills and leaks.

Water The availability of fresh water is a growing challenge in some parts of the world. Increasing demand for water resources, growing community expectations, and water-related legislation might affect our ability to secure access to fresh water and to discharge water from our operations. We design and operate our facilities to help reduce their fresh water use. We manage our water use carefully, and we tailor our use of fresh water to local conditions because water constraints affect people at the local or regional level.

Our Goal Zero ambition

is to achieve no harm and no leaks across all of our operations. Everyone working for Shell strives to achieve this goal each day. To achieve Goal Zero, we focus on the three areas of safety hazards which have the highest risks for our type of activities: personal, process, and transport safety. We want to help improve safety performance throughout the energy industry and work in partnership with industry trade associations and professional bodies to share our safety experience, standards and knowledge with other operators and contractors.

Employee health and welfare We believe that good working and living conditions help to bring about a safer and more productive working environment.

Product stewardship We produce crude oil and natural gas and refine them into fuels, lubricants and chemicals that are used to make many everyday items. We try to take care that these products are safe, from production to disposal. We call this product stewardship. To understand and manage the potential health, safety and environmental risks presented by our products, we evaluate them carefully. We work closely with our customers and suppliers, monitor any changes in the science behind our products, and support research if it helps us to reduce their risks even further.

Innovation is in our DNA – it means making things better than before. It means driving the right solutions to deliver the energy that our customers need to power and sustain their lives. But we know we cannot solve the world’s energy challenges on our own. To meet the rising energy demand in the most socially, environmentally, and economically responsible way, we need to unlock the full power of innovation: the capacity to do things differently and better than before. Discover our innovation programmes below, and which of them could best meet your needs.

Shell in Malaysia Shell has been a partner in fuelling Malaysia’s progress for over 125 years. Our journey with the nation is intertwined – in as much as Shell has played a role in growing the country’s energy sector, Malaysia has also played a significant role in the company’s progress.

Population distribute by state Vehicle registrations in Malaysia hit 28.2 million units. Total number of vehicles on our roads standing at 28,181,203 units. Which makes a great new location startup for the country since it has already developed in coming years to come.

Managing waste We aim to reduce the amount of waste we generate and to reuse or recycle materials, wherever possible. For example, in 2017, seven of our downstream manufacturing sites sent more than 50% of their waste generated during the year for recycling or reuse. Of these seven, four sites sent more than 80% of their waste for recycling and reuse. We determine if waste is hazardous to ensure it is managed properly.

Energy transition and climate change

Society faces a dual challenge: how to make a transition to a low-carbon energy future to manage the risks of climate change, while also extending the economic and social benefits of energy to everyone on the planet.

We believe that the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which are largely caused by burning fossil fuels, will transform the energy system in this century. -Continues investment in oil and gas to meet growing demand -Bringing cleaner burning natural gas to a wider market -Managing greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations -Building a profitable new energies business -Promoting carbon capture and storage and nature based solutions -Advocating government-led carbon pricing mechanism

#ShellStories

Hamim “One of the classic reason Shell petrol pumps are most preferred is SHELL V-POWER. Believe it or not, this fuel will boost your bike engine as well as mileage. I do fill only Shell V-POWER petrol.

“It cleans the engine’s most critical parts free from Carbon residues. Cleaner engines perform better and also designed to improve performance through advanced technology.”

Siah “I am working as a mortgage consultant, so I travel a lot by car. But my ambition is to become a singer. My mother was a singer too. Maybe I’ll take a long leave from work, so I can join a singing competition. I’ll show my best side to the audience and the judges.”

Halmi and Family “We are on our way to fetch my mother and bring her to our house for the holidays. We stop here quite often, to refuel or to pump up the tires. We have been married 21 years. The secret of a good marriage is that you keep talking. You take into account each other’s feelings. Love is about your heart, which is more than just love. You love your children and your family. Being in love is more, it’s deeper. That’s why we’ve been together for so long already.”

Nadarajoo “I start every morning at 5am in my garden. There, I grow flowers and vegetables. I quit my work in construction after a stroke. Working in my garden gives me peace. Nowadays, I live a healthy life. My body is healthy. I love life and want to be 100 years old. So I can help other people.“

Rong Jiang “Since I started working next door about one and a half years ago, I have stopped here almost every day, for a quick breakfast at Deli2Go. The staff are really friendly. My hobby is running. I started with short distances, a few years ago. I learned to push away my mental blocks, so now I can do marathons as well. That also helps me with my job, I know I can push my limits.”
