Use Your Light Rail Pass Your Light Rail monthly pass is valid for one (1) zone of travel at no additional charge on NJ TRANSIT buses, NJ TRANSIT contract carriers, and local bus routes operated by private carriers operating under an NJ TRANSIT Bus Card agreement. One-Way Ticket Transfers Customers may purchase a one-zone transfer for 70¢ from their NJ TRANSIT bus operator that will be valid for connection onto Hudson-Bergen Light Rail. Customers purchasing tickets through Hudson-Bergen Light Rail TVMs may purchase a one-zone transfer during the transaction, valid for connection to a one-zone bus ride.

After you have time-stamped your ticket, simply get on board and ride. NJ TRANSIT Fare Enforcement Officers make random ticket inspections on vehicles and at Prepaid Fare Zones. Keep your ticket handy until exiting your station of destination, as you may be asked to show your ticket more than once during your trip. If you are a senior citizen or passenger with a disability and are traveling with a reduced fare ticket, you must provide a valid form of ID upon request.

To time-stamp your ticket, insert it into the timestamp machine with the print side up and the NJ TRANSIT logo facing to the left. The machine will date and time-stamp your ticket for 90 minutes of use.

Fares
Park & Ride lots are located at these stations: 22nd and 34th Streets in Bayonne; West Side Avenue and Liberty State Park in Jersey City; and Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen. Customers may purchase monthly or daily parking and light rail transit tickets together from TVM pay stations at each Park & Ride lot. Daily parking is valid for 24 hours from the time of payment. Parking is also offered without the purchase of transportation and is only valid from the lot where purchased.

Please Stay Alert Overhead wires, which carry electricity to light rail cars, are dangerous. Stay away from them at all times.
Crossing Tracks Light rail cars are smooth and quiet. Look both ways before crossing tracks and only cross at designated crossings where there are signals or traffic lights.
