Getting Around in Geiranger, Norway

The Ship is anchored and the Guests will be able to disembark using the Sea Walk. The distance from the Pier to the City Centre is approx. 0.31 miles or less than 10 minutes. Taxis are available, but very limited. The city is centre is very walkable and the Tourist Information is at the Pier. The currency in Geiranger is the Norwegian Krone (NOK).

Please note that guests are required to bring their SeaPass Card and a Government issued Photo Identifcation to get of and on the ship.

Gratuities

Jewel of the Seas will be docked in Breivika which is approximately 15–20 minutes from the city centre. The cruise port is located in downtown within close proximity from the pier and within 5-min walking distance from the town’s center therefore, no local transportation or shuttle buses re uired. Downtown you will fnd the main shops, souvenir shops, museums, tourist information, bars & restaurants. Taxis are limited and can be ordered from the pier. The local currency is the Norwegian Krone (NOK) and the language is Norwegian, though basic services are available in English.

Getting Around in Ålesund, Norway

Jewel of the Seas will be docked in Storneskaia, Prestebrygga. The port of Ålesund is conveniently located close to the heart of town, approx., 200m or a 2-minute walk from the cruise terminal into the city. Jugendstil centre: 300m walk, Aksla Viewpoint: 1,5 km. Atlantic Ocean Park: 3,5 km west of the port and Sunnmore open air museum: 5,5 km east of the port. Ålesund is famous for its Art ouveau center, which you will fnd right in front of you after the ship docks. At the exit of the port, you ll fnd a small tourist information center. Ålesund’s main bus station is located right in front of the exit of the port. All blue buses are local buses that go to the main sights in and out of town, except for Fjell Stua & Mount Aksla. Buses depart from the bus station in front of the cruise terminal. Most buses depart every half an hour. Fram is the local bus service in Alesund. To Atlantic Ocean Park Price: Adults–170kr, kids 3–15 75kr. To the Fjellstua – Mount Aksla viewpoint: 150 NOK (+/- 22 USD) (Prices are approx., please note buses are not operated by Royal Caribbean Int.,). Taxis are limited and generally available in the morning right outside the port. Keep in mind though that they are expensive, we recommend you negotiate a rate with the driver beforehand. There is a hop on hop of bus available in Ålesund, the bus is also wheelchair accessible. The Norwegian krone (NOK) is the ofcial currency being used in orway. ost places will not accept euros or US dollars. However, credit cards are widely accepted throughout the whole of Norway. ATM’s and money exchanges are available in the city.

Getting Around in Flåm, Norway

Jewel of the Seas will dock in the harbor at Flåm Cruise Pier. The wharf is located a short walking distance from the port. The train station and tourist information are both just 180m away and you’ll fnd the facilities are plenty and well-arranged. You can learn more about the exiting history behind this 20km stretch of railway by visiting the Flamsbana Museum. Reservations are required for guests wishing to take the train as this is the most popular attraction and is necessary to book as soon as possible to guarantee spaces. The village is small and easily accessible by foot, surrounded by nature, with restaurants and souvenir shops, but no major attractions around the area. Because Flåm is such a small town, transportation is limited. Taxis are limited and in general, not the way to get around in Flåm. The Norwegian krone N is the ofcial currency being used in Norway. However, credit cards are widely accepted throughout the whole of Norway. ATM’s and money exchanges are available.

Jewel of the Seas will be docked in Strandkaien 46, which is approx., 400m away or a 5-minute walk to the main square. The port is in the heart of the city and shops and cafes are within walking distance and very accessible. The tourist information is in Domkirkeplassen 3, next to the Cathedral and around 500m from the pier. Taxis are limited and available outside the port gate. Keep in mind though that they are expensive, we recommend you negotiate a rate with the driver beforehand. The Norwegian krone (NOK) is the ofcial currency being used in Norway. However, credit cards are widely accepted throughout the whole of Norway. ATM’s and money exchanges are available in the city.

Captain Michael Lindberg was born in Malmö in the southern part of Sweden and grew up in the north eastern part of the Baltic Sea, in a town called Sundsvall. After some years of sailing onboard diferent oil and chemical tankers, he then joined Royal Caribbean onboard the Majesty of the Seas in 2004. Since then, he has worked onboard Monarch, Enchantment, Radiance and Serenade of the Seas until he was a part of the new building team of Liberty of the Seas in Turku Finland. After Liberty he moved to the Allure of the Seas, before he joined Azamara Club Cruises for a few years, later returning to Royal Caribbean International. After four and a half years onboard the Vision of the Seas and recently on the Independence of the Seas, Captain Michael Lindberg welcomes you onboard the beautiful Jewel of the Seas and wishes you the best cruise vacation on the seven seas.

Tony was born in Norwich, England. He joined Royal Caribbean in 1998 as Food & Beverage Director, later to be appointed as the first Hotel Director on Splendor of the Seas. Tony oversees the ship’s hotel services, housekeeping, food & beverage, onboard revenue & entertainment areas. Tony has worked on all the Sovereign, Vision and Radiance class of ships, also, Voyager and Freedom class and recently has made his home onboard the beautiful Anthem of the Seas. Tony graduated from the University of Wales with a degree in Hotel Management in 1981, worked in London, UK for Marriott/Sheraton Hotels, then ventured overseas in 1989 assisted in the development of tourism, opening resorts for Sandals in St. Lucia, Grenada, Jamaica & Bahamas after which he joined cruise ships. He hopes you enjoy your vacation onboard this magnificent ship and welcomes you to the “Anthem” family and hopefully what you will find the ‘friendliest’ ship on the high seas.

Originally from Norwich, Norfolk, England. Tony comes from a catering family who owned properties in and around Norfolk, hence his passion for the hotel industry. Tony graduated from Cardif University in 1984, joined Sheraton Hotels in London within food & beverage, then moved to the country house hotel market in the west country of England as General anager before being ofered a position in the Caribbean. Here he assisted in the development, training & opening at resorts in St. Lucia, Grenada, Trinidad & Nassau. While working as Manager for Sandals Resorts in Nassau, Tony received a call of the sea from Royal Caribbean Intl., in 1998 and has never looked back. Tony has worked on most class of ships over the years, gathering a plethora of seafarer stories over his 26 years with the Company. Tony would like to welcome you onboard the beautiful Jewel of the Seas of which he hopes you will fnd it to be the Friendliest Ship on the high seas.

Aysy was born and raised in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny in Russia. She went to Preston Hight School in Kingwood, West Virginia, and was convinced that she would become a teacher just like her mother and a grandmother. She went on to get her Masters Degree in Teaching English and German as a Foreigh Language. During University years she was involved in Musical Theater and Performance Art and found herself enjoying hosting & organizing events and activities. After graduating the University, Aysy started working as a Cruise Director’s Staf on the Splendour of the Seas and fell in love with “all things” cruising. She has decided to build a career at sea and has worked her way up through the ranks until she was promoted to a Cruise Director on Oasis of

Ciara was born and raised County of Cork, Ireland. working in the hospitality years of age as a waiter, transition to Front Desk seemed natural as Ciara ‘gift of the gab’! In 2004 Ciara decided enough with went searching for some much needed sunshine. to her first cruise ship job as a Cadet Purser sailing Beach, California. As the years went by Ciara moved to Guest Services Manager/ Chief Purser working from Australia to China to Europe and of course Western and Eastern homeports in the USA. Ciara the Marketing and Revenue Manager Position in being part of the inaugural and opening teams on Seas, Anthem of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas the Seas. At the take out of Symphony of the Seas promoted to Manager Hotel Operations which brings Ciara was promoted to Hotel Director.

Daniel was born in Portsmouth, England. He holds the position of Cruise Director for Royal Caribbean which looks after and plans the entire entertainment program for your cruise vacation. He is a brand new Cruise Director for Royal Caribbean, having previously worked for sister brands Silversea Cruises and TUI for a number of years in similar positions. He was previously a professional performer in musicals, both in America and England, including the Jersey Boys over in the USA. He also enjoys performing his Tom Jones Tribute Act. Daniel is excited to be delivering and guiding the terrifc entertainment program that Royal Caribbean ofers our guests and cannot wait to meet you during your voyage!

ONBOARD EXPENSE ACCOUNT

Setting Up Your Account

If you did not set up an account during Online Check-In or during boarding in the cruise terminal, you can do so in the Royal App or at the Guest Services Desk on Deck 4. Onboard Expense Accounts can be set up with a credit card, a debit card, or cash. Our ships utilize a cashless system, so your SeaPass card will be the only way to make purchases while onboard. Please note that a temporary hold of $99.75 will be placed on your card to verify funds. Onboard purchases over $100 will generate additional holds. The hold will be released within 3 to 5 business days after your cruise ends, but can take up to 30 days, depending on your bank. You may add other guests to your expense account by visiting the Guest Services desk. A daily limit can be placed on arcade spending. All charges can be viewed in the Royal Caribbean App. Printed receipts will be provided for each onboard purchase. A final statement will be e-mailed to you within 24 hours of departing the ship on the last day of your cruise. Guests on a cash account will need to settle their account at Guest Services prior to disembarking the ship.

Specialty Dining Reservations

Specialty Dining reservations can be made through the Royal Caribbean App. You may also dial 54 on your stateroom phone and select the restaurant you wish to dine in or visit the restaurant and make a reservation with the Maitre d' outside. The Maitre d' can also assist you with making changes to your seating.

Room Service

Continental breakfast is complimentary. Both the All-Day Menu and American Breakfast will have a delivery fee of $7.95 plus an 18% gratuity for each order. To view the menu, visit the Royal App. When you’re ready to order, dial [7000] from your stateroom phone.

How much are gratuities?

$18.00 $20.50

If not already pre-paid, a $16.00 gratuity ($18.50 for Suite guests) is added to each guest's onboard account daily to help recognize superior service from crew during your cruise. This gratuity is shared among dining & culinary services staf, stateroom attendants, and other hotel services teams working behind the scenes. In addition to daily gratuities, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to all beverage, mini bar items, specialty dining, and spa & salon purchases.
