Bachelor Jazz

After the Covid recess, HKB jazz capitalizes magnificently on new chances to perform and collaborate, returning ever stronger to the fast-moving laboratory of forward-looking experimental sound it is now so known for. Following the student-programmed Pop-up Festival in early June, look out for the most urgent sounds around: exploring improvisation, tradition, freedom, simplicity, complexity… and addressing the environment, hauntology, cultural identity and gender politics, like never before.

Mattia Belz Farewell Blast

Everything comes to an end, and so do the undergraduate studies at the University of the Arts Berne. The trumpeter Mattia Belz presents a quartet, bringing together current students from the HKB. Nostalgically waving back to the intense years of study, with the jazz tradition in their luggage, they set out to experiment with new and still uncertain vibrations of the future. The program consists almost exclusively of original compositions. Inspired by the iconic post-bop bands from the 60s, the pieces furthermore explore contemporary influences, creating their own aesthetic.

David Bühler

Cooking with David, Volume 0

2 dl Halbrahm (kalt) flaumig schlagen, darunterziehen. 3–4 Esslöffel Honig daruntermischen. Enjoy :)

Nil Flückiger Soupcoup Septept

Plants and planets, ports and portals, snippets and sprite, protons and pesto, pianists and parrots: Snippets of what trips the Soupcoup Septept has in store for the tempted pallet in pursuit of pastime pints. But beware, this epic stampede paths its way across plethoras of tipsy poetics, sprints past singing pirates and postmen and tempts the listener by stepping out of persisting scripts and past plastic sculptures into pastures of the present.
