WELCOME FROM DR. KAREN WARREN COLEMAN ★

EUGENE MCDERMOTT HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear Hockaday Parents, Alumnae, Faculty, and Friends:

Welcome to An Evening Pep Rally Benefiting Hockaday Athletics, the 2022 Hockaday Parents’ Association Benefit! Enclosed please find your program for this year’s Benefit, which details the one-of-a-kind auction items that await you on this special night of April 2, 2022 and the many people, businesses, donors, and volunteers who make possible this extraordinary celebration of Hockaday’s community.

The Hockaday Parents’ Association Benefit Committee has planned a unique pep rallyinspired evening for the community and is delighted to welcome our treasured Hockaday Parents, Faculty, Staff, Trustees, and Alumnae to the festivities. The participation and presence of our diverse and vibrant community make the Benefit one of the most highly anticipated nights of the year. The thought and preparation the Committee puts into each aspect of the auction and celebration is clear, and this annual celebration is a wonderful example of the spirit of the Hockaday Community – supporting one another and our amazing girls, as we highlight one of our Four Cornerstones - Athletics.

The proceeds from this special event will support improvements to Hockaday’s Athletics fields and outdoor venues and will enhance the School’s Athletics and Wellness programs. Miss Ela Hockaday had a bold vision for her School when she named Athletics as one of the School’s Four Cornerstones more than 100 years ago. Our Athletics and Wellness programs help students develop a sense of confidence, self-esteem, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and cooperation that prepares them to meet challenges both on and off the field. This visionary approach integrates Athletics across the Hockaday student experience in exciting, new ways. Your generosity speaks volumes to our girls about the importance you place on their continued growth and strengthens our ability to provide the best resources for our students for years to come.

On April 2, we will enjoy fellowship, merriment, sumptuous food from Food Glorious Food, and lively music from the Emerald City All Stars Band. You are invited to celebrate with each other and are encouraged to view the wonderful auction items described in this guidebook. As always, the talents and generosity of the Hockaday community are overwhelming and never cease to amaze me!

As you celebrate with friends, please remember, with gratitude, the hundreds of donors and volunteers who make this night possible and toast Anne-Marie Myhre and Katie McLeroy, our Benefit Chairs, and Carla Bolden, our HPA President.

Warmly, Karen
