ALL Hockey truly is a sport for everyone! It is played by all genders from the age of five through to people in their 80s. There are programs, variations and levels of competition for every age and ability, including a comprehensive schools program. First experience hockey programs covers the basics of hockey in a safe and inclusive way Most of the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos players started their hockey career in school, going on to compete in Olympic Games and World Cups!
For years PP - 6 Sporting Schools is a $240 million Australian Government initiative designed to help schools increase children’s participation in sport. Sporting Schools funding is available to primary schools to deliver free Sporting Schools programs before, during or after school. Grants of between $1,000 and $3,600 (GST exclusive) are available per primary school for each term. Hockey WA’s School program has been developed to give children 5 to 12 a safe environment in which to learn the game of hockey in a modified game-based setting. All Sporting Schools coaches are accredited and armed with the knowledge needed to run an engaging and enjoyable school program. Hookin2Hockey is Hockey Australia's introductory hockey program aimed at children 10 years and under and includes skillbased games in a fun and safe environment. The programs helps you learn the skills through exciting and inclusive games in a positive team environment. Through the course of the program, you will develop new hockey skills and build fundamental motor skills.
BENEFITS INFORMATION Hookin2Hockey is hockey’s national junior program allowing kids aged 5 – 12 years old to learn the game. The program provides kids with the opportunity to make friends and have fun in a safe, welcoming & inclusive environment. Hookin2Hockey is delivered all around Australia and is designed to ensure that participants can safely progress their physical literacy skills, all whilst enjoying the game of hockey. PROGRAM DURATION The program is extremely flexible and customisable to each club/association needs in terms of program length and equipment requirements. The program can be delivered over 2-20 weeks, suiting the needs of the club/association. Minimum Program Costs per person Hockey Australia Levy (2024) -$22.81 Hockey WA Levy-$0 Club/Association Cost-Determined by the club* Optional Equipment Packs (not mandatory)-$55.00 COST OF EQUIPMENT PACKS AND VARIABILITY Hookin2Hockey equipment packs can be ordered at the point of registration for each individual. Included in the packs are a hockey ball, shinpads and hockey stick, which comes with your choice of size, (28”,30”,32”,34”,36”). You can also choose the colour-way of your stick based on your favourite Hockey One team! If a participant already has their own equipment, that is perfectly OK, you can still register for the program at a reduced cost. DELIVERY OF EQUIPMENT Packs will be delivered to the address of each individual as entered on revolutioniseSPORT at the point of registration. HOW TO REGISTER Players will be able to register and pay online through their local hockey club’s website in an easy to follow process. INSURANCE Player Insurance is included in the cost of their Hockey Australia fees.

This program is in place for those teachers and schools who participate in the sporting school program throughout the year. There are Bronze, Silver and Gold Partner School status to be achieved by the school. With increased involvement in hockey, though different level of partnership comes further benefits and rewards for the participants and the school. More opportunities occur for gold over silver over bronze.
