Hokkaido Summer Institute(HSI) is one of the largest summer schools in Japan. 349 courses will be offered face-to-face and online. You will find a course that match your interests from a wide rage of courses. Credits will be awarded upon completion of the course.

Hokkaidoサマー・インスティテュート（HSI）は、 学生だけのサマースクールではありません。 社会人の皆さんの“学び直し”や“知識のブラッシュアップ”に最適です。 今年からは、日本語によるリカレント科目も開講。 「リカレント講座は受講したいけど、英語が苦手…」 という方も参加しやすくなりました！ Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI) also offers special courses for working adults. These courses are ideal for their re-learning and brushing up their knowledge. In 2023, HSI will launch recurrent courses taught in Japanese, in addition to its vaunted recurrent courses taught in English. These Japanese courses make HSI accessible also to those wishing to take the most advanced courses yet lacking confidence in their English proficiency.

Hokkaido University brings together the knowledge of the world every summer. It hosts distinguished faculty members from overseas universities and international students of diverse cultural backgrounds to provide cutting-edge courses in English. It s good to train for study abroad. Some of the courses even involve fieldwork amidst Hokkaido s natural beauty. HSI extension/professional program is different from other recurrent programs. By attending lectures given in English by faculty members of overseas universities at this vast and verdant campus, you will surely feel as if you are studying abroad. Of course, busy people can take the courses online. Some courses will be issued a digital badge*, which is useful when changing jobs or advancing your career. Why not try advancing your career at HSI in a way that slightly differs from others?

One of the largest summer schools in JAPAN, inviting leading researchers from all over the world to collaborate with HU faculty members to offer cutting-edge classes.

授業科目は、対面とオンラインあわせて349科目を開講。 アクティブ・ラーニング型の授業や北海道の地を活かした フィールド実習など、多彩な授業の中から 興味のある科目が必ず見つかります。

349 courses will be offered face to face and online (as of Dec. 2022). You will find a course that match your interests from a wide range of courses. Many courses incorporate active-learning, field training and other variety of class activities.

授業は英語*で行われるので、専門知識と一緒に

英語が学べます。また、世界中から参加者が集まるので、 北海道に居ながら海外留学体験ができます。

*日本語で学ぶリカレントコースのみ日本語で授業が行われます。

先端研究コース

特定の専門分野に関する最先端の授業を行います。海外大学等の研究者の参加も多く、HSI以 外では学ぶことができない内容も含まれます。日本のトップランナーによる授業も行われます。

This course offers cutting-edge classes in specific areas of expertise. As lecturers include many researchers from overseas universities and other institutions, their lectures include content that can only be studied at HSI. The lecturers also include researchers in Japan at the forefront of their fields.

courses 40 科目 社会人を対象とした学び直し／職業専門能力の向上・知識獲得をめざした科目群となります。 本コース修了者には、デジタルバッジが授与されます。学生の履修も可能ですが、本コース中、 日本語で行われる科目は、履修しても単位の修得はできませんので、ご注意ください。

This program offers courses for working adults to engage in re-learning as well as the acquisition and development of expertise. Those who have successfully completed the program will be issued a digital badge. Please note that although students are also eligible to attend this program, they cannot earn credits for the courses taught in Japanese.
