About us
History
Electoral Reform Services is the UK’s most experienced independent supplier of ballot, election and voter registration services.
Electoral Reform Services is the specialist balloting and related services business of the Electoral Reform Society.
We are specified as an independent scrutineer in Acts of Parliament and with over a century’s experience in ballot and electoral administration, our reputation within the industry is unrivalled.
Since 1884, the Society has sought to raise the standards of probity and honesty involved with ballots and elections. For many years, in addition to carrying out its core role of campaigning for electoral reform, the Society assisted a variety of organisations with the administration of their elections.
Each year we help thousands of organisations hold their own ballot, election, referendum or survey. Some have fewer than a hundred voters, others have more than a million; but all choose Electoral Reform Services to guarantee integrity and independence. We provide postal, online, telephone and SMS voting solutions, and continue to refine, modernise and improve voting methods and processes. All of our projects are managed under one roof, ensuring total control, security and flexibility. Together with our subsidiary companies, Membership Engagement Services and Xpress Software Solutions, our business offers you the very best in democratic administration, membership engagement and electoral software. All of our work is guided by our core principles: quality, integrity and impartiality.
Over time, demand for these electoral services increased as organisations became more willing to resolve issues through ballot and consultation. To meet the growing need for specialised, independent ballot management, Electoral Reform Ballot Services was constituted as a separate company in 1988. Today we are known simply as Electoral Reform Services and offer the benefit of over a century’s experience of best practice in ballot, election and consultation management and administration. Together with the expertise of our Research agency and subsidiaries, Membership Engagement Services and Xpress Software Solutions, we work hard to facilitate democracy and engagement throughout society.
What we do Electoral Reform Services offer a range of voting and participatory services. Typical projects include committee elections, proxy voting, independent scrutiny of AGMs, employee representative elections, housing ballots, referendums, elections of pension scheme trustees, party leadership elections, community consultations, board of governor elections, surveys and independent audience vote verification. We also provide most of the UK’s Local Authority Electoral Officers with the specialist supplies and services they need to run parliamentary, local and European elections. In addition to our core balloting we offer a range of complementary services.
