Task Analysis
How can we embody physical interactions with products that mirror the virtual experience and connectivity demonstrated by smartphones and other connected devices? Design that a product that combines the networking opportunities of the Internet of Things with the physical design of a product to enable household chores or tasks of everyday living to be more effectively and efficiently completed. The design process for the product should show consideration of a selection of the following contextual statements: – Consumers have ever increasing expectations of responsiveness – Fluid Experiences by bridging multiple devices and functions – Simplified everyday mundane tasks – Reducing the brain cognitive load and task switching overhead – Making life easier, happier more fluid and less stressful – Users want more time to focus on themselves; mainly on what they enjoy and prefer to do – Greater remote monitoring and control – Focusing expenses in areas that really matter

Put clothes into top of basket. Colour recognition technology separates items into correlating compartments.
Conclusion of the research stage
Notification that darks are full. The basket connects to the users phone using wifi (only when within a metre).
Segments spin to show full section. Light glows blue to demonstrate full. The user pushes to release the compartment.
Utilizing Logitech brand DNA
IDEATION using Logitech brand DNA. Scenario (right)
Take out inner bag with clothes. Push to reconnect the compartment (light flashes once to confirm).
Put load (still in bag) into machine. Phone connects to smart washing machine, allowing user to control settings.
Use phone to check progress. The app allows the user to monitor the wash and load capacity of each section.

Key findings:
To help ease the time and pains of in bed bathing
- Hand strap is beneficial to support the weight of product. - Warm air felt cold when angled against the skin. - Softer sponge or smooth plastic felt nicest against the skin. - Bathing in bed is strenuous to lift and move the user. - Its difficult to know how much pressure to apply to clean.

Find a way to reduce the strain on the NHS Proposition A new design is needed to aid elderly carers when bed bathing. It should reduce the strain required and minimise spread of infection, whilst simultaneously providing a more enjoyable experience for the carer and recipient. By utilising waterless cleaning, the task becomes easier, encouraging more frequent use, keeping the recipient clean and healthy and out of hospital.

disposable base to 4. Attach clean genitals
Benefits to the NHS would be reduced hospital admissions, by increasing the elderly carers awareness of their own health, and through the encouragement of self care, reducing the need for tedious nurse visits.

Key technology: non alcohol based, paraben free, PH balanced waterless cleaning fluid
Stretch elastic strap supports elderly carer
PP rubberised slide switch to release disposables
Proposal ‘CURA’ is an easy to use, hand held, portable waterless cleaning device that aids elderly carers in cleaning older adults. ‘No touch’ disposables reduces the spread of infection, while the warm air dries the skin ensuring the recipient doesn’t get cold. This creates a more enjoyable bathing experience and reduces the need for the carer to towel dry after washing. The pressure sensor lights up to warn the elderly carer if they are being too rough or exhausting too much strain themselves. The underside nibs vibrate to aid with cleaning and stimulate the skin to improve circulation, in turn, preventing ulcers developing.
PP top and bottom shell
PP charging base with storage of 4 disposables
