Giving back to our community is central to what we do. In fact, Community is one of our core values at Holmes Realty. As Sidney’s real estate agency of choice, we are grateful to have such excellent support from our own community on the peninsula — and we pay it forward by supporting important social initiatives right here at home.

Did you know that since 2007, our agents have donated over $200,000 toward worthy causes, both locally and internationally? Here’s a quick snap of where we have reinvested:

• We think children are one of the most important investments of all. We’ve partnered with Sidney Elementary School to help them build a kitchen and an irrigation system in their gardens, among other things. So far our support has reached $37,400.

• In 2015 we supported the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation, pitching in $10,000 to construct a special room in the palliative care ward.

• Sidney residents and visitors absolutely love our Sidney Concert Band — and so do we. We’ve consistently partnered with this group, supporting them with $10,000 in donations since 2008.

• Everyone deserves good oral health, but dentistry is expensive — and frankly out of reach of many families living on the peninsula. We contributed $7000 to the ORCCA Dental Clinic Society so that they can offer dental care to children and families on a pay-what-youcan basis.

• Imagine for a moment how limiting your life would feel if you couldn’t even leave your home. From 2007 to 2015, the Holmes Team purchased hundreds of wheelchairs for people in developing nations. We partnered with the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation to do it, donating over $100,000 and giving the gift of mobility.
