Fund for the Future was a diocesan capital campaign which raised the initial money to begin the Cathedral’s renovation. It also secured funds for priests retirement, Catholic schools, and other diocesan projects. Of the sixteen or seventeen million it raised for the diocese, the Cathedral’s share was $1.3 Million.

R.C.I.A. Builds the Christian Family BY THE

RCIA MINISTRY TEAM

Most of us do not know much about the origin and format of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The early years of Christianity involved a long process of learning, spiritual development and approval by sponsors in order to be accepted. An initiation process similar to that of the early church came out of the Second Vatican Council. Here are some excerpts from the approved book of the Rite that may shed a little light on the guidelines that have been developed, especially the Rite of Acceptance which is coming up on November 21. This is a portion of the decree that

Cathedral Tower Clock repairs: A Show of Hands

THE NEW MOTOR SITS ON A TEMPORARY MOUNT OVER THE ORIGINAL MECHANISM. NEW AXLES WILL BE INSTALLED SOON.

Like many iconic tower clocks gracing America’s skylines, the clock at Holy Family does not work. But that’s changing. A generous parishioner donated funds to have the 1920s clock repaired. Monsignor Gier hired the Verdin Company to construct new axles and clock hands. The new hands are already installed. The next step is to connect each set of hands to a motor atop the old clock mechanism. The work should be finished in a couple of weeks. The clock and the recently refurbished church bell will be synchronized. In its first few decades, the clock ran like a grandfather clock,

driven by a pendulum and a series of weights that needed to be wound up every week. In the 40s or 50s, the church installed an electric motor that drove the gears. The new motor will bypass the old mechanism entirely. It is calibrated to spin the axles at one revolution every minute. Reduction gears in each clock face will keep the hands spinning at the proper rate. As the work is completed, the Cathedral will post photos on its website: www.holyfamily-tulsa.org THE ORIGINAL CLOCK MECHANISM

heart" and a Mass at the Cathedral this December for all who donate.

What we call Thanksgiving Day is for giving for what we pray.

Time and date will be in an upcoming bulletin.

So, with abundance if you are so blessed then remember those who have much less. You can help for what we striveplease donate NOW to the turkey drive.

B.D.Tidmore, our G.K., wishes to extend his thanks and gratitude to all of you who participated in the recent 40 Days For Life and spent an hour in prayer at the Garden of Hope located across the street from the abortuary at 32nd/Norwood. In turn, thanks are in order for B.D. who expended untold hours, days, and weeks on the initiation and success of the pro-life quadragesimus.

We'll take your dollars dimes and pennies as it all adds up to help the many! Hey-ho! It is Thanksgiving time again and the HF Council's annual turkey drive is in full swing and the cry of the heart is that cry in the wilderness pleading for your help. So, if you have been meaning to donate flesh or funds - don't delay! Tempus fugit! The final chance is Sunday, November 21 so make that turkey or ham donation today! Ham? Yes, we take hams too as not everyone is able to bake a turkey for various and sundry reasons. Deacon Tom is gathering the flock once again so here is your chance to give Tom the turkey to Tom. Can't make it to market? Well, let‘s talk turkey for a moment: last year we collected $1,973.00 in money donations to purchase turkeys/hams in addition to the huge truck load of donated poults and pork. We take checks - payable to KC#10388 and note that the check purpose is for turkey/ham as you wish - dollars, and loose change. Now, for turkeys/hams you can bring them to the Cathedral-we have a freezer set up downstairs to keep them until the 22nd., TCBY at the NE corner of 81st/Sheridan, or Yellow Front Furnitures at 12/Harvard. Monetary donations can be given to D.Tom or myself, or placed in an envelope and mark it some way for the turkey drive - even "Gobble! Gobble!" will get it to us and drop it in the collection basket. And your reward? - drying the tears of a "crying

A "Note Bene" to all Council Knights: our annual Christmas Dinner invitations will be in the mail by the 15th (hopefully!) for the big event in the second week of Dec. Were you not to have received one by, say the 23rd/Nov. let me know ASAP: 918-836-5352. Blessed Thanksgiving to one and all! Pax!
