COMMUNITY
Established in 1996, Holy Spirit Preparatory School offers a comprehensive college preparatory program for students in preschool through 12th grade. Afforded a classical Catholic education, our students develop a love of learning, build self-esteem, learn to set and realize personal and community goals, and acquire formidable leadership skills. A competitive “House” system further enhances each student’s sense of belonging to a challenging and yet supportive educational and faith community. Moral and spiritual dimensions are integrated throughout all aspects of the curriculum, encouraging each student to flourish in an atmosphere that constantly provides opportunities for academic, spiritual, athletic, and emotional growth. Holy Spirit Preparatory School is a community where the individual develops to his or her fullest potential as a result of the cohesive efforts of the parent, the teacher, and the student.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Holy Spirit Preparatory School seeks to develop the students into productive, caring, and active members of the Church and the world who influence society in a meaningfully positive way. A critical part of the students’ lives throughout the Upper School experience is student leadership. Junior high students have opportunities to join the House System as Junior High Reps during their 8th grade year as well as lead clubs for their peers. During grades 9-12, students have a plethora of opportunities leading service apostolates, clubs, and in our House System. The Head Boy and Head Girl serve all of HSP as the “student faces” of our community. Our goal is to further develop young men and women into people of a strong Catholic faith, character, and service.
SERVICE
In line with Holy Spirit Preparatory School’s motto, “To serve, not to be served,” the school aims to follow Christ’s example by reaching out to our community. In addition to a continued focus upon service through prayer, philanthropy, and advocacy, students participate in direct service through the school’s community service program. Additionally, students are encouraged to become involved in community service through their parish and other service organizations.
ADMISSIONS PROCESS
Admission to Holy Spirit Prep is selective. The Admissions Committee carefully evaluates each candidate’s academic record, standardized test scores, and teacher recommendations to determine the student’s likelihood of success at HSP. Holy Spirit Prep does not discriminate on the basis of color, creed, handicap, or national origin in its admissions considerations.

Distinguishing features of the Holy Spirit Preparatory School Upper School programs include a classical core program requiring four years of study in a classical language and a commitment to read extensively from the canon of English and world literature. At HSP, faculty mentors meet regulary and individually with students to develop educational plans, create individualized reading lists, and provide tutorial support. Students attending Holy Spirit Preparatory School are the beneficiaries of a program rich in the legacy of Catholic education. Our Catholic faith and values are integrated into all aspects of the Upper School program. Students are given opportunities and encouraged to open themselves to the needs of others in the spirit of service.

Athletics and Health 1 Credit Total 24+ Credits CLASSICAL DIPLOMA 27+ credits Holy Spirit Preparatory School offers a Classical Honors diploma to students interested in a more rigorous path at HSP. The diploma includes a minimum of four credits in classical languages and at least one Advanced Placement course in each of the four core subject areas. COLLEGE PREP DIPLOMA 25+ credits The College Prep Diploma should be considered as comparable to the rigor offered at a typical independent school. Students take two sequential years of a foreign language, have a standard credit requirement for graduation (25 credits), and may select their core subjects from a broader range of courses.
STANDARDIZED TESTING
ADVANCED PLACEMENT Students are admitted into AP courses based on grades in prerequisite courses, teacher recommendations, and PSAT scores. Typically, students only take one AP class in sophomore year, two classes junior year, and three classes senior year. HSP does not require students to take the AP exams for their courses.
