Bathrooms: organic calm

YOUR BATHROOM RETREAT

The biggest trend in bathrooms in recent years has been recreating a spa-like feel. When the world seems to have gone mad, retreating to the bathroom to relax, recharge and pamper yourself is the order of the day. The use of organic materials such as stone, oak-wood, raffia and lots of botanicals immediately evokes a sense of harmony and calm. Rain showers have become especially popular, and standalone ergonomic bathtubs, wet rooms and state-of-the-art toilets that light-up and clean themselves (and even you!) are also increasingly seen in latest bathroom ranges hitting the market. Treat yourself by turning your bathroom into a little paradise instead of just a room of function, and you will add value to your home and to your general wellbeing.

The cutting-edge Afilo shower, from Gessi’s private wellness range, comes with a remote control and has a built-in multifunction system, with a rainfall, waterfall and mist function and also a chromotherapy effect. Gessi is available from Lijomi in Marbella Club (www.lijomi.eu).

The stylish Blade Lab range from Modulnova is exceptional in its technological, functional and aesthetic excellence. This cutting-edge bathroom uses Modulnova’s Black Cosmic Brazilian granite featuring attractive white quartz veins, clusters of mica and small golden garnets to celebrate nature’s beauty. The raw processing by Modulnova gives the stone a textured effect that exudes sophistication, while the metal-framed mirror brings lightness to the aesthetic composition. Modulnova is situated in Avda. Salamanca 12 in San Pedro de Alcántara (www.modulnovamarbella.com).

This bathroom has been installed with Lapitec, a mineral material that is 100 per cent natural and is, in fact, the world’s only certified sintered stone that is totally silica-free – unlike materials such as clay, granite, quartz and sandstone. Lapitec is available from Mercado da Pedra in Avda. de Salamanca in San Pedro de Alcántara (www.mercadodapedra.com) and Decodan Studio in Avda. Juan Carlos I in Estepona and Marmorin Design Center on Marbella’s Golden Mile (www.decodanstudio.com).
