LIFESTYLE & LEISURE
EDITOR’S NOTE
Don’t you love the scent of jasmine in the air? As spring arrives and the weather warms on the Costa del Sol, the evenings are filled with its unmistakable fragrance, inviting us to linger outdoors just a little longer. For me, these gorgeous blooms are so quintessentially Spanish; a sensory reminder of Mediterranean living at its finest.
Nature is woven into life in southern Spain whether we realise it or not. From shaded terraces to villas with infinity pools, outdoor living defines our lifestyle, and spring is the perfect time to embrace it fully. It’s a season of renewal when we refresh not just our spaces but also the way we live. And, more than ever, mindful, sustainable design is at the heart of that, strengthening our connection to the natural world.
Nowadays, beautiful design is integrating eco-conscious materials and energy-efficient technology without sacrificing style. Architects and designers are prioritising natural textures and materials, bringing a tactile richness to interiors while reducing environmental impact. Bespoke artisanal techniques add authenticity and meaning to handcrafted ceramics, handwoven rugs, and sculptural lighting. Meanwhile, innovation in sustainable furniture, from reclaimed teak to weather-resistant bamboo and recycled fabrics, is redefining outdoor living. Smart technology now also plays a pivotal role, from retractable awnings that provide adaptable shade to energyefficient LED lighting, proving that sustainability and style can coexist.
Throughout this issue of Home & Lifestyle Magazine, our pages explore the shift towards mindful luxury. We celebrate homes that embrace biophilic design and outdoor spaces that merge effortlessly with their surroundings. Sustainable materials and high-tech solutions offer endless possibilities for sophisticated, responsible living and enhance great design. Beyond the home, we take a closer look at the stunning Seadeck 6, a luxury yacht that embodies technology and design to reduce environmental impact and deliver an exceptional experience at sea. On land, we explore the gorgeous Naturhotel Forsthofgut in Austria, where sustainability meets five-star alpine luxury and immerses guests in nature. After all, what could be more indulgent than breathing in fresh, unspoiled air - or catching that first trace of jasmine on a warm spring evening?
Welcome to the season of refined living and reimagined luxury.
Enjoy this issue,

When it comes to designing the perfect living room, the focus is on creating a space that balances comfort, style, and personality. Sofas with sweeping curves and soft, tactile fabrics offer an inviting atmosphere, while unique coffee tables, defined by their innovative shapes and materials, add character to the room.
While neutral coloured seating continues to be a popular choice, don’t shy away from bold hues and patterns. If you have the space to experiment, a striking pattern can bring a room to life and add depth to your design. Whether you prefer understated elegance or want to make a statement, the key is to create a harmonious space that feels both functional and visually engaging.

FOUR YEARS OF FLAIR
HOW ESCANDI DESIGN CONTINUES TO REDEFINE STYLE AND EXPERIENCE
Located along the illustrious Carretera de Mijas, a road brimming with design showrooms from end to end, Escandi Design has spent the past four years carving out its own unique identity. As the showroom celebrates this milestone, Home & Lifestyle Magazine visited owners Johan and Gitte to explore the essence of what sets Escandi Design apart. From the moment you step inside, the sheer scale of the showroom is nothing short of breathtaking. What began as a single-floor space has now expanded to two levels, each brimming with inspiration for every corner of the home. Every piece within the showroom has been personally selected by Johan and Gitte, a true reflection of their refined taste and commitment to quality.
“Everything here is a manifestation of our personal style,” Gitte explains as we navigate through the thoughtfully curated showroom. “We collaborate exclusively with brands that resonate with us - brands that provide highquality products at an accessible price point. In addition to our carefully chosen collections, we have our own exclusive line of furniture and decor, crafted especially for the showroom, making these pieces even more personal to us.”
Beyond retail, Escandi Design offers a comprehensive suite of design services for residential and commercial projects. Their ability to create custom-made pieces - ranging from furniture to artwork - has been met
with resounding enthusiasm from clients looking for bespoke designs tailored precisely to their spaces.
A particularly intriguing discovery within the showroom is their newly introduced gourmet section. At its heart stands a striking wooden dining table, encircled by an exquisite array of Spanish delicacies - artisan olive oils, fine wines, premium tequila, and gourmet confectionery. This space has been purposefully designed for hosting events such as wine tastings, while also serving as a treasure trove of distinctive gifts and indulgences.
In keeping with the theme of gastronomy, Escandi Design extends its offerings to an inviting café at the front of the showroom. Here, guests can savour homemade quiches, sandwiches, and cakes alongside Lavazza coffee and an impressive selection of quality wines. The ambiance is enhanced by a stunning hand-painted botanical mural, adding a touch of artistic charm.
So, what truly distinguishes Escandi Design? Beyond its vast and aweinspiring showroom, the space exudes warmth and individuality in every detail. Johan and Gitte’s passion for natural materials is unmistakable, evident in their collection of raw, organic furnishings. Their business ties to Indonesia have allowed them to cultivate valuable relationships with skilled artisans, enabling them to source exquisitely handcrafted furniture tailored to their vision.

The sensory experience at Escandi Design extends beyond visual appeal. A custom-blended room fragrance lingers throughout the showroom, enchanting visitors who frequently purchase the scent to bring a touch of Escandi magic into their own homes. Upstairs, the immersive experience continues - here, outdoor furniture is displayed to the soothing sounds of birdsong, while the area dedicated to sunbeds is accompanied by the rhythmic melody of ocean waves, transporting guests to a serene coastal retreat.
Yet, even with all these offerings, Johan and Gitte show no signs of slowing down. Their ambitious plans include further expanding the upper level to showcase an extended collection of kitchenware, as well as curated spaces dedicated to bathroom decor, children’s bedrooms, and an exclusive display for micro-cement home applications.
To find out more about Escandi Design’s events, follow them on social media, @escandidesign, visit their showroom on Ctra. de Mijas from Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm, and Saturday, 10am to 2pm, or go to www.escandidesign.com to buy online.
BLENDING NATURE AND TRADITION IN UNDERSTATED STYLE
ALEJANDRO GIMENEZ ARCHITECTS
Founded in 1999, Alejandro Giménez specialises in creative architecture, using local and natural materials to develop contemporary designs inspired by Mediterranean traditions. Giménez’s extensive education in Spain, the United States, and Germany, coupled with experiences in Japan and Mexico, has shaped a distinctive style that blends Andalucían influences with global perspectives. This fusion results in spaces that exude serenity and timeless elegance.
Nestled within the exclusive Cascada de Camoján area, surrounded by a lush pine forest, this contemporary villa in the heart of Marbella is a fine example of the architect studio’s defined style. It has been meticulously reimagined to design a space that evokes a profound sense of well-being
- where natural light, organic materials, and a seamless dialogue with the surroundings are the main protagonists. The architects’ intentions were clear from the outset; a complete reconfiguration of the space, relocating the kitchen, living, and dining areas to the heart of the home. This strategic decision optimises flow and strengthens the connection between inside and outdoors. It allows the home to be flooded with light and the Mediterranean landscape to become an intrinsic part of everyday life. The selection of materials adheres to principles of simplicity and authenticity: stone, wood, and lime in neutral tones, crafted by artisans whose touch is evident in every texture and finish.
One of the most distinctive aspects of this transformation is the restoring of architectural elements and period features. Traditional details, such as an ornate wrought-iron staircase railing, add character and a refined sense of style without overpowering the space. This seamless blend of heritage and contemporary design enhances the villa’s timeless appeal.
The master suite has become the jewel in the crown. Removing false ceilings has achieved an impressive three-metre height, adding a sense of openness and connection to the outdoors. Huge windows frame outstanding views of Marbella and the Mediterranean Sea, while a carefully curated palette of natural materials and textures infuses warmth and tranquility.
Water also plays a fundamental role in this villa’s design, enhancing the sensory experience. The sound from strategically placed fountains and a
cascading waterfall in the pool do everything to create a sense of calm, evoking the refreshing essence of Mediterranean courtyards. Every design decision has followed a clear principle: a pared-back selection of materials, treated with respect and an artisanal touch to highlight their natural beauty. In this villa, architectural design at its finest is not just lived in. It is experienced through nature, light, and tradition, merged in a harmonious blend of contemporary living.

FROM SWEDEN TO THE SUN SWATHED STREETS OF MARBELLA
H ANSSONS FASTIGHETER’S VISION FOR EXCELLENCE
Founded in 1974 in the Swedish town of Limhamn, Hanssons Fastigheter began as a family dream brought to life by Bertil Hansson. Over nearly five decades, this once-small real estate company has transformed into a trusted name in the property market, managing 400 apartments and around 50 commercial spaces across Sweden. Known for its commitment to stability, personal service, and long-term relationships, Hanssons Fastigheter has become a pillar of reliability for both private tenants and businesses. Today, the Hansson legacy is in the capable hands of Bertil’s daughters, Annika and Cecilia, who took the reins from their father. In 2024, the company entered an exciting new chapter as the third generation - Annika and Cecilia’s children - stepped into leadership roles, bringing fresh energy and vision to the family business. This seamless blend of tradition and innovation continues to define Hanssons Fastigheter’s journey.
The company’s boldest leap came in 2019 with the launch of Hanssons Signature Homes, based in Marbella, Spain. Initially focused on renting out luxurious vacation apartments, the business quickly expanded into property renovation and sales, offering sophisticated residences tailored to the discerning tastes of international clients. Hanssons Signature Homes has become a hallmark of quality, blending Scandinavian sensibility with the vibrant spirit of the Costa del Sol.
Another new project, Maria Caridad, perfectly captures the company’s ethos. Nestled in the heart of Estepona’s historic old town, a few minute’s walk from the beach and Plaza de Flores, this project features six townhouses that blend modern elegance with the area’s Andalucían charm. Partnering with
Atlas Group, the construction company synonymous with luxury projects and renovation projects in historical areas, the build will be complete in the summer of 2025.
The six properties, located on the intersection between Calle Concepción and Calle Caridad, will boast their own roof terrace with the option of a private jacuzzi, and deliver fantastic views. The largest property will have additional space in the basement to transform into an extra living area, and there are two to three/four bedrooms available per dwelling.
Atlas Group has plenty of experience with projects in the historic towns of Andalucía, including the Hostel Veranera in Estepona, which was lovingly restored as a place of stay for travellers and digital nomads. This renovation project was in keeping with the traditional architectural style of the Old Town and used sympathetic materials, while integrating modern installations. This gave new character to the build whilst respecting planning and the style of the surrounding buildings.
Co-owner and Director General for Atlas Group, Mike Gregory noted, “We share the same vision of integrity, personal service, and high quality as the Hanssons Fastigheter team and are excited to be working with them. The Old Town of Estepona is an iconic location and it is encouraging to see further investment in the renovation and rejuvenation of buildings here. Our team brings expertise to the renovation of buildings in the heart of historic areas.”

STAYSURE MARBELLA LEGENDS
A VICTORIOUS WIN FOR SIMON GRIFFITHS
The Staysure Marbella Legends took place at Aloha Golf Club in February, bringing together some of the biggest and most-loved names in senior golf. As always, the tournament showcased exceptional talent, with English player Simon Griffiths emerging victorious.
The Marbella Legends is part of the Legends Tour, Europe’s main circuit for professional golfers aged 50 and over. The event attracts top players, including Ryder Cup veterans and major championship winners, providing a competitive and entertaining spectacle for golf enthusiasts. This year’s tournament lived up to expectations, producing a strong field of players including Colin Montgomerie, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Stephen Gallacher, and Scott Hend.
It was Simon Griffiths, however, who scooped the top prize. He began the final round with a two-shot lead, and delivered a composed performance,
finishing at 15-under par. His steady play throughout the tournament resulted in his second Legends Tour title, following his previous win at the Farmfoods European Senior Masters in late 2024. Hot competition came from Scott Hend who mounted a strong challenge, shooting an impressive final-round 64, which included ten birdies, to take second place at 13-under par. Mikael Lundberg finished in third place at 12-under, while local favourite Miguel Ángel Jiménez kept the home crowd entertained and shared fourth place with Matthew Cort, Peter Baker, and Lionel Alexandre at 10-under par.
Known for its high level of competition, The Marbella Legends is a key fixture on the Legends Tour. It offers fans the opportunity to see some of golf’s most recognisable names in action and it’s a welcome addition to the golf scene on the Costa del Sol.
SUSTAINABLE LUXURY
AZIMUT’S SEADECK 6 REDEFINES YACHTING
Luxury and sustainability are no longer mutually exclusive. In a world where eco-conscious choices define the future, high-end brands are embracing innovation to balance opulence with responsibility. Nowhere is this evolution more apparent than in the world of luxury yachting, where pioneering shipyards are leading the charge towards a greener future.
Azimut, a name synonymous with excellence, has set a new standard with its award-winning Seadeck 6, proudly taking home the Innovation Award at the recent 2025 Motorboat Awards in Düsseldorf. Seadeck 6 captivated the judges with its fusion of avant-garde design, lightweight construction, and hybrid power, proving that sustainability shouldn’t have to compromise performance or design.
Seadeck 6 is the first model in Azimut’s hybrid yacht series. Through the extensive use of carbon fibre, a next-generation hull design, and Volvo Penta’s Mild Hybrid Zero Emission Hotel Mode, (which allows for zero-
emission anchoring and silent cruising), the yacht reduces CO2 emissions by up to 40 per cent, compared to traditional vessels of its class.
The shipyard has also placed sustainability at every level of the yacht’s DNA by selecting sustainable materials as alternatives to traditional yacht finishes. Cork replaces teak, Econyl carpets are made from recycled fishing nets, and PET plastic features heavily in the yacht’s structural elements.
The Seadeck 6 is a stunning example of eco-conscious design with the wow factor. Fun Island, designed by Alberto Mancini, is a standout feature and a revolutionary take on the beach club concept. Expansive lateral wings open to create a panoramic terrace over the water, with a high-low platform inviting guests to lounge at the water’s edge or to soak up the sun. It’s the ultimate celebration of refined living with a conscience.

THE ORANGE HOUSE HOTEL LA CALA’S HIDDEN GEM
The Orange House Hotel in the heart of La Cala de Mijas is a boutique retreat that seamlessly blends contemporary interiors and modern design with the warmth of the Med. It’s a great recommendation for friends who are visiting the coast, and equally for residents who are looking for a spot to come together over a sundowner and to appreciate the sweeping views from the hotel’s rooftop bar.
The Orange House is the realisation of a dream, brought to life by Londoners, Paul and Jo, who have called La Cala home for more than 20 years. When they discovered a hidden gem at the end of a narrow street in 2017, they saw not just a large orange building but a place brimming with potential. After years of careful renovation, The Orange House Hotel was born, offering understated elegance in a home from home environment.
Crisp white linens work with warm wood finishes and textured natural fabrics to create a sense of gentle sophistication while contemporary, bold wallpaper adds character and interest. Each of the 22 en-suite
rooms is designed with style and function in mind, featuring keyless smartphone entry, ambient lighting, spacious walk-in rain showers, premium Rituals toiletries, and plush towels, to help guests settle in and feel at home.
The star of the show at this charming boutique hotel, however, is Upstairs, its rooftop bar. As the only rooftop bar in La Cala, it’s a hidden gem with panoramic views over the town and the Med. It’s a welcome and unexpected spot to enjoy a morning coffee. In the evening, the space adopts a lounge bar vibe, serving a selection of wines, cocktails, and snacks - perfect for a sundowner with a view.
The Orange House Hotel is more than just a place to stay; it’s the result of a family who have tirelessly worked to see their vision come to life, and it’s there for all to enjoy whether as an overnight guest or just popping in for a coffee.

ALPS FOR ALL SEASONS
NATURHOTEL FORSTHOFGUT
Austria may not be the first destination that springs to mind for a few days away from it all but a stay at the five star Naturhotel Forsthofgut propels it right up there with the best of them for a bout of ‘me’ time in the lap of luxury. Waking up here must surely be what waking up in a dream is like.
Nestled in the village of Leogang, an hour’s drive for Salzburg, come springtime, the Naturhotel Forsthofgut is surrounded in Alpine meadows basking in the sun with the Austrian Alps creating a stunning and dramatic backdrop. This gorgeous hotel not only looks as pretty as a picture postcard but it is redefining high-end hospitality with an ethos of mindful luxury.
While Austria is renowned for its winter sports, Forsthofgut’s appeal extends far beyond the ski season. Spring and summer unveil a different side to the Alps; lush, green forests, crisp mountain air, and days spent swimming, hiking, biking, rafting, and ziplining are where it’s at. When energy levels tell you otherwise, the hotel’s luxurious swimming pools and serene bathing lake are the perfect spots to unwind and to soak in the natural beauty from private sunbathing islands. When winter does return, the hotel’s direct ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes transforms it into a premier alpine retreat.
Forsthofgut’s commitment to holistic well-being shines through at its award-winning WaldSPA. The epic adults-only section features panoramic saunas, a sports pool, and a whirlpool with breathtaking mountain views. The Lake House introduces an Onsen-style thermal
pool and a Finnish sauna perched over the water, delivering the perfect blend of Japanese serenity and Alpine charm.
The food offering is equally as indulgent. Culinary excellence is a hallmark of Forsthofgut, where the focus is on sustainability and regional authenticity. The signature ForsthofgutCUISINE presents three dining experiences: Alpine-Mediterranean, R50 (sourced from within a 50-kilometre radius), and fully plant-based food. The real standout, however, is Mizūmi, the hotel’s Japanese fine dining restaurant. Overlooking the bathing lake, Mizūmi’s menu delivers sushi, tempura, and umami-rich dishes, offering an unexpected culinary journey in the heart of the Austrian Alps.
And whilst Forsthofgut has adult downtime to a tee, it is fully geared up for the smaller family members too. The children’s farm and wildlife feeding activities will connect kids with nature, and the pool and water slides in the Family & Kids section of the WaldSPA will tick all the boxes for adventure. Top-tier childcare services allow parents time to truly unwind and to experience the best of both worlds at Forsthofgut, knowing their kids are having just as much fun. For those who value understated opulence and a commitment to responsible hospitality, Forsthofgut is a stunning destination that rewrites the essence of luxury travel for so many reasons. You should book, whatever the season. You may just have found your new happy place.

CHEF HELLE OF CHILI GOURMET CATERING RECREATES
THE ULTIMATE OPEN SANDWICH
Plaice is possibly the most popular fish found in the waters surrounding Denmark. It works in perfect harmony with world-famous, hand peeled, fresh prawns from Royal Greenland to make the ultimate open sandwich. My tip is to make the pickled onions in advance and store in the fridge. I know it seems like a large amount of onions but they taste delicious and are the perfect accompaniment for other Smørrebrød with herrings, roast beef, pate, and salads. Enjoy!
Ingredients
Serves four
Breaded plaice
4 fresh plaice, about 500-600g
100g fine breadcrumbs or panko (a mix is also good)
50g flour and 200ml water
Salted butter and neutral oil for frying
Salt and pepper
Lemon mayonnaise
3 egg yolks
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
1 Lemon (juiced)
600ml sunflower oil
1 tbsp ice-cold water
Salt and pepper
Raw pickled onions
1kg red onions
200ml apple cider vinegar
175g sugar
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp pink peppercorns
2 bay leaves
To serve
150g Royal Greenland prawns (peeled)
4 slices of Rye bread
Salted butter
1 sliced lemon
Fresh dill, rocket and your favourite mini-sprouts
1 Fillet the fish (two per fish) and pat dry with kitchen roll. Slit at the back and fold the tail under the fillet.
2 Whisk the flour, salt, and water to a smooth consistency. Dip the fillets into the mixture then cover in breadcrumbs. Chill in the fridge.
3 To make the mayonnaise, blend egg yolks, half of the lemon juice, mustard, salt, pepper and vinegar with a hand blender. Slowly add the oil so that the mayonnaise doesn’t separate. Once the oil has been added, add the water. Season with salt and lemon juice to your taste and place in fridge.
4 To pickle the onions, put the apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan. Add the sugar, salt, pink peppercorns, and bay leaves. Boil until the sugar has dissolved. Cut the red onions into fine wedges, place in pickling jars and add the warm vinegar mixture. Refrigerate when cooled.
5 Heat oil in a pan over a medium high heat and fry the plaice fillets on one side until golden. Turn down the heat, add butter and fry the other side, coating the fillets with the butter from the pan until golden and crispy on both sides. Place them on kitchen roll to rest for two minutes and season.
6 Butter the rye bread, put two pieces of fried plaice on each and finish with lemon mayonnaise, prawns, pickled onions, lemon slices, and herbs. Serve immediately.

A NEW TREATMENT FOR SMOKING CESSATION
BY RACHEL GARROD
Okay, so New Year Resolutions are a thing of the past for a lot of us but are there things you still want to change? For many, giving up smoking is often an ongoing promise and a hard habit to break. If you are a smoker, I am sure you’ve tried numerous treatments such as patches, gum, acupuncture, and hypnosis. But, after trying just about everything, you’re still hooked.
Recent advancements in smoking cessation treatment offer new hope for those looking to quit. One such treatment is Cytisine, a natural supplement made from the seeds of the “Golden Rain Tree” (Cytisus Laburnum). Cytisine has been used for decades in Eastern Europe and is now gaining recognition globally, including in Spain.
This plant-based product is the closest substance to nicotine. In the brain it acts just like nicotine and stimulates the release of pleasure chemicals such as dopamine which help reduce the desire and craving to smoke.
Numerous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of Cytisine in helping smokers to quit. A landmark 2014 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine compared Cytisine to nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and found that it was significantly more effective. Both groups also received behaviour change counselling support to maximise chances of success. After one year, 8.4% of participants using Cytisine remained smoke-free, compared to just 2.4% of those using NRT.
Cytisine’s safety profile is also well-established. While some users may experience mild side effects such as nausea or sleep disturbances, it is generally welltolerated and considered safe for most individuals. Its natural origin and lower cost compared to other medications make it an attractive option for smokers seeking to quit.
The public health system in Spain has recently made Cytisine available in the form of a new drug called Todacitan. However, presently this is prescribed without behaviour support.
Quitting smoking is one of the best decisions you can make for your health, and Cytisine offers a proven, affordable, and accessible way to achieve this goal. If you’re really determined to quit, I provide Cytisine (in its original form, Tabex) along with a comprehensive programme of behavioural support, hypnotherapy, and positive reinforcement, all evidence based approaches that really help you to stop smoking successfully with long term results.
Remember, every step towards quitting is a step towards a healthier, smoke-free future.

JULIAN RAVEN
IGNITING CREATIVITY AND TRANSFORMING MARBELLA’S ART SCENE
Two years ago, the larger-than-life British-born American artist Julian Raven returned to Spain, the country of his childhood, after many years abroad, primarily in New York. Choosing the vibrant town of Marbella as his new home, he established the Raven Art Studio in the heart of the town’s main industrial estate. There, most afternoons, he can be found meticulously curating his masterpieces, accompanied by his loyal canine companion, Luna. We had the pleasure of meeting Julian at his studio to delve deeper into the world of the Raven Art Studio and explore the inspirations that fuel his artistry. Approaching the gallery, one is immediately struck by its bold red exterior - vivid and arresting, much like the artist himself. Looking upward, a whimsical installation of a model raven, suspended from a fishing rod, dances in the wind, a playful yet practical deterrent for birds that might otherwise intrude upon his terrace.
Stepping inside, it becomes clear that the Raven Art Studio is far more than a conventional exhibition space. It is a living, breathing creative workshop, a dynamic hub where artistic expression takes precedence over
traditional curation. Photographic materials sprawl across his workbench, every inch of wall space is adorned with striking visuals, and dozens of large, expressive paintings command attention, each a testament to Julian’s diverse artistic journey.
When asked what ignites his creativity, he responds without hesitation: “Everyday life. Something catches my eye, and I take a mental photograph - I feel compelled to paint it. Creativity is intrinsic to all of us; it is woven into our very nature. Yet, life’s demands often stifle that artistic impulse, leading us down different paths. However, the moment we create something, there is an undeniable joy, a profound sense of fulfilment. My passion is to reignite that artistic spark in others.”
Recently, Julian has immersed himself in the study of the Italian Renaissance, drawing profound inspiration from this iconic era. This newfound enthusiasm has fuelled an ambitious vision: to establish Marbella as a beacon of artistic innovation. With characteristic fervour, he exclaims, “How incredible would it be to see Marbella celebrated not just for its glitz and glamour,

but as a global creative hub?” His passion extends beyond his own work; he is dedicated to fostering a sense of artistic community. Every second Saturday, he hosts an open terrace gathering, complete with a barbecue, where creative minds can connect and exchange ideas. “Being an artist can be a solitary pursuit,” he reflects. “I wanted to create a space where we can support and inspire one another, a place for camaraderie and shared passion.”
As he proudly guides us through his gallery, his artistic versatility becomes ever more apparent. His photographic work - lesser-known yet profoundly compelling - captures Marbella in a raw and evocative manner. Dramatic depictions of El Cable’s iconic concrete tower and the industrious lives of local workers offer an unfiltered glimpse into the city’s soul. Meanwhile, his paintings span an impressive range of styles, from post-impressionistic and abstract expressionist pieces to contemporary drip-and-splash techniques and striking portraiture. Beyond canvas and camera, Julian’s craftsmanship extends to cabinetmaking, with
bespoke furniture commissions adding yet another dimension to his creative repertoire. When asked about his ultimate mission as an artist, his response is as impassioned as his work: “I want to make an impact. I want to share my passion for art in a way that allows others to experience and engage with it, however they choose. There is something profoundly satisfying about inspiring creativity in others. Where would the world be without aesthetics? Art enhances our lives, infusing them with colour, form, and beauty. Regardless of who we are or what we possess, we can all appreciate and partake in the artistic experience in some way.”
Julian Raven’s boundless energy, vision, and artistic dexterity are shaping his own legacy and the cultural fabric of Marbella. His gallery is not merely a space for exhibition; it is a movement, an invitation for all to rediscover the creative essence that resides within.

Urshita comments, “With so many different approaches, it is easy to lose sight of yoga’s true core values, which are simply to enlighten, revitalise, and rejuvenate the practitioner. Yoga helps us let go of any notion of being perfect so we can evaluate our consciousness. Through movement and meditation,
one can become the best version of oneself.” With a capacity of 14, the studio is designed for more intimate classes to allow the expert, professionally trained, and insured teachers to focus on the well-being of each individual.

Spain’s sun-soaked coastlines have long been on the dream destination list for tourists, second home owners, and property investors. The shortterm rental market has grown substantially, with thousands of homeowners leveraging tourism to generate income.
While this surge has boosted the economy, it has also led to increased regulation. And, if you own, or are thinking about investing in, a short-term rental property in Spain, mark your calendar. April 2025 brings significant regulatory changes that could impact how you operate.
This new legislation will require property owners to obtain express approval from their homeowners’ association before renting out their properties for short-term stays. The homeowners’ associations will also have the authority to impose restrictions, set occupancy limits, or even stop tourist rentals, provided they secure a three-fifths majority vote from the community. This new rule won’t affect homeowners who are already renting their properties before the law’s implementation but it will impact new short-term rentals from April 2025.
In summer, the Spanish government is also introducing the Digital One-Stop Window for Rentals, a centralised registration system designed to enhance transparency and control over short-term rentals, effective from 01 July. The new regulations on tourist rentals in Spain represent a significant change for property owners, particularly for non-residents, and it’s important to stay ahead of the curve. Ensuring compliance with legal and tax requirements is essential to avoid penalties and safeguard the profitability of your investment. At Welex, Law and Economics Firm in Marbella, we provide a comprehensive service for managing taxes derived from tourist rentals for non-residents, as well as handling the tourist rental license application.
