Mr.Lowhorn is now 92 years of age and is residing in a retirement home in Albany. Someone buying this farm will reap the benefits of the hard work put into it over the years by Will Ed and his family. This land can serve well for many farm uses and home sites. Perhaps someone just might grow melons and corn in the same spots where Will Ed did.
Had Will Ed’s good health held out, no doubt he would still be farming and growing his delicious melons and yummy sweet corn. Besides his work, he seldom missed attending his beloved Lees Chapel Church, just a few hundred yard up the road from his home. Will Ed lead the singing there for many many years.
When someone refers to “THE WILL ED PLACE” Almost everybody that’s lived in and around Albany and Clinton County; especially in the Lee’s Chapel Community know their speaking of the place owned by Will Ed Lowhorn. He and his late wife Monrie bought this place in 1958. They owned and ran business’ in Albany, worked hard and kept improving the farm over these many years. Will Ed loved to grow his big watermelons and sweet corn on the place. He didn’t mind competing with his buddies in trying to grow the “Best Lee’s Chapel Melon”. He loved to haul the ripe melons and sweet corn to Albany in his pickup truck, where he would “peddle” them on the side walk in front of his dry goods store. He kept a sign on the back of his truck that read “Horn’s Corn”
