“A world class cycling environment where champions inspire participation of everyday people”
You & The Avantidrome How it Works Once you have made that first step in having a go, we will take care of the rest for you. You will be met by one of our friendly staff on arrival at reception. If you have not completed a registration form or paid on line before before you attend, then you will need to complete both. You will need to arrive at least 15minutes before your session is due to start. This ensures that we have put you on the right sized bike and helmet before your session starts. You will then be directed to the infield where you will be met by your instructor or coach. Your instructor / coach will check that you are on the right sized bike and that your helmet fits before you head on the track.
Beginners For first timers, your session will start on the infield and you will be taken through the basics of a track bike and a velodrome. Once your instructor is happy that you can handle the bike and can stop safely you will then transfer to the apron. The apron is the flat part of the track and here your instructor will take you through basic track skills before moving you up on the first part of the track. Your session is designed to be fun and provide you with a basic understanding of a velodrome.
You & The Avantidrome Experienced For those more experienced, you will still need to arrive 15 minutes before your session, so you are ready to start on time. Your coach / instructor will make themselves known to you on the infield.
What Next? Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, we want you to have a great time on the track and importantly your track time to be safe. After your session is finished, you will need to drop off your bike at our Community Service Centre before using our changing room and/or café facilities onsite. More importantly, before you leave, don’t forget to book your next track session!
How to Book Visit us online at www.homeofcycling.org.nz to check out the next available places. You can book your session online by following the simple instructions. Alternatively, contact 0800 Velodrome or pop in & talk to us today.
