ANKC LTD SURVEY – JACK RUSSELL TERRIER OWNERS

In accordance with Regulations Part 6 – The Register & Registrations Section 1.11 an online survey is now available from the link provided below where ANKC is seeking feedback from owners of Jack Russell Terriers regarding proposed amendments to the breed standard. Details of the proposal and rationale are noted below for reference:

Proposal

The ANKC Ltd have resolved to conduct a Survey of all Jack Russell Terrier owners recommending that the following changes to the Breed Standard be endorsed:

Body

Chest deep rather than wide, with good clearance and the brisket located at the height mid-way between the ground and the withers. The body should be proportioned marginally longer than tall, measuring slightly longer from the withers to the root of the tail than from the withers to the ground the length from

the point of the shoulder to the buttocks slightly greater

than the height from the withers to the ground. Back level. Ribs should be well sprung from the spine, flattening on the sides so that the girth behind the elbows can be spanned by two hands - about 40 cms to 43 cms. The loins should be short, strong and deeply muscled. The change is to replace the wording highlighted in red with the highlighted wording in bold.

Rationale This brings the Standard in line with the Country of origin UK standard.

The ANKC standard gives totally the wrong body proportions by measuring from the withers to the root of the tail versus the point of shoulder to the buttocks in the Kennel Club standard.

A majority of registered owners within the breed and responding to this survey must be in favour before approval is given by the ANKC Ltd.

The online survey can now be accessed from: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6SNPY82 The link is also available from the ANKC website at: http://ankc.org.au/AboutUs/?id=3283 Please note responses to the survey are required by COB 28

August, 2021.

NATIONAL AGILITY TRIALS – RESCHEDULED DATES

Further to our earlier notice where we advised the rescheduled dates for the National Agility Trials to be conducted by DOGS WEST, DOGS NSW and DOGS QUEENSLAND.

With the continuing uncertainty of travel restrictions both national and international due to Covid-19, Dogs West advised the 2021 dates are not achievable for many of the Australian agility community. As a result of these trials being rescheduled, Dogs NSW and Dogs Queensland have agreed to move their national trials which were to be held in 2023 and 2025 as follows:

Dogs NSW

New dates: 25 to 30 June, 2024 at the same venue of Bill Spilstead Complex for Canine Affairs, 44 Luddenham Road, Orchard Hills, New South Wales

Dogs Queensland
