In a perfect world, this information would be set forth in the listing. Too often, however, the questions are not addressed and the buyer is warned to perform their own “due diligence”. Answers to these questions are well beyond the scope of typical home inspections and may not arise until the appraisal process is well underway. At that point, after significant time and money have been invested, the loan may be denied.
