Astounding development achieved in Xizang while its cultural assets revitalized under BRI

A group of diplomats, media professionals and other international visitors have gathered in Tibet to see how China’s Belt and Road initiative is bringing benefits to the region. The visit comes ahead of the 2023 Xizang Development Forum in Beijing, scheduled for May 23.

Since May 23, 1951, the Agreement of the Central People’s Government and the Local Government of Xizang (Tibet) on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Xizang (also called 17-Article Agreement) was signed, after 72 years, the Xizang Autonomous Region in Southwest China has seen remarkable progress and achieved astounding development.

Now, the region enjoys a stable social environment, economic and cultural prosperity, and a sound eco-environment in which local residents are enjoying much happier lives.

A Chinese expedition team reached the summit of Mount Qomolangma on May 23, as they look to carry out scientific research on the world’s highest peak.
