2010 has been a year of recovery for coastal real estate in Orange County. While no one expects to see the lofty sales prices of past years, buyers are emerging from their self-imposed sideline positions to take advantage of current opportunities presented in this cycle. Increasing in number, yet still cautious and sometimes hesitant, these buyers recognize the stability of real estate as an investment; especially at the corrected prices we are seeing today. While we cannot predict the future of the economy or home prices, buyers continue to recognize that a home affords a quality of life that is tangible in ways that other investments are not. Its worth and meaning are deeper and more profound than that of other asset classes. With speculation a thing of the past and consumers sharing more consistent opinions on the value of real estate, we are seeing growth again in the volume of property sales as well as emerging and recognizable patterns in value. These are the defining characteristics of a healthy and sustainable marketplace. “Authenticity” is word you hear bandied about more frequently these days. With regard to real estate today, it is especially meaningful.
