November 1-Get Pumped for Pumpkins! Pumpkins are the quintessential symbol of Fall. Favorite JCC educator Catherine Jura will discuss pumpkin origins, selecting a great pumpkin, and storage. Then taste the difference between fresh made puree and canned. Recipes: Creamy Pumpkin Soup (vegan/gluten-free); Tortellini With Pumpkin Alfredo Sauce; and Fall Pumpkin Mousse (vegan/gluten-free).
December 6-Kitchen Knife Skills & Late Fall Cooking Guest cook Steve Piorkowski will teach basic knife skills (what you always wanted to know). Then the recipes will focus on warm and seasonal: Hungarian mushroom barley soup; Beet salad; Fluffy biscuit with thyme; and Pear Tarte Tartin. Led by Catherine Jura
January 10-An Evening of Lebanese Classics Guest cook Robert Khalife will discuss Lebanese cooking: the food and the culture. Recipes include the favorites you have wanted to learn to cook: hummus (vegan/glutenfree); Tabouli (vegan); and Fava Bean Spread with pita (vegan). Led by Catherine Jura
February 7-Specialty Ravioli: Beautiful & Delicious Guest cook
cook Steve Piorkowski will teach the basics of hand-made ravioli along with multiple ways to it. Recipes include: heart shaped ravioli filled with chocolate and coated with powdered sugar (Valentine’s Day special); ravioli filled with pumpkin and sage butter sauce; and ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta and parmesan sauce. March 7-Microgreens with Major Flavors Guest cook Corinne Hansch will discuss microgreens (what are they, their benefits, basics of growing them and resources to grow them at home) and the benefits of organic and buying local. Recipes include: winter veggie slaw with micro cilantro; pasture raised egg salad with micro greens; micro green energy salad with dressing; and detox smoothies. Led by Catherine Jura
