Rabbits’
Kingdom
My wonderland departs from a mythical story and lands in a synthetic world. Turning the Easter bunnies’ story into a selling point, the rabbits collaborate with cocoa farmers, and the cocoa woodlands become the site of the underground chocolate factories.

Story
Regarding the monoculture and deforestation issues in the cocoa plantation in Southeast Asia, the current installation aims to mix the commercial cute symbols of rabbits with a rebellious attitude. Easter rabbit as a cultural symbol synonyms chocolate egg.

Project_1 Bumiloka Plantation Site Analysis My proposal involves designing a chocolate factory on a cocoa plantation in Java, Indonesia. The factory will serve as both a production facility and a public space for social interaction, acting as a mediator between the company and smallholder conflicts. Additionally, it will serve as a playground for local children and families.
This was the entry and office site of the Bumiloka Swakarya Plantation. However, the company lost the permit in 2020 and the entire 1600 hectares cocoa plantation has been given back to the local residents.
One of the main reason that locals against big plantations is because they want their own land to plant. The dense cocoa trees (only 2m interval) did not allow farmers to intercrop. A lot of the cocoa has changed to cassava gardens.

After establishing a basic chocolate production system in the central core, I began to question how chocolate could be used to promote coexistence between humans and animals. One solution is to use leftover chocolate as animal feed.

Conclusion: The Chocolate liquor would follow the vertical pattern of the rattan. It would cover the 2.5mm* 2.5mm gaps but not larger than that, and would form either porous or enclosed surfaces.
