POEBOY MUSIC GROUP PRESENTS GHOSTWRIDAH THE UNDERDOG COMING UP AND MAKING A STATEMENT IN
THE HIP HOP INDUSTY
08
Born and raised in South Miami, Florida, GhostWridah (born Troy Jeffery) was introduced to HipHop and was inspired to rap by his older brother, Roy Jeffery. Upon hearing the lyrical mastery of such MCs as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Jay Z, Outkast, and Slick Rick, GhostWridah knew he found his calling. He became mesmerized by the rap genre/ culture and it’s ability to inspire others to want to become somebody. The newcomer to the rap game got his name from the actual word ghostwriter while writing verses for his peers as a high school student. “A friend of mine started to call me ghostwriter because I would write everyone in our circles verses. The name stuck, I just changed the spelling for the sake of being creative,” says GhostWridah. Working a 9 to 5 by day and recording by night, GhostWridah became all too familiar with the word “HUSTLE.”• At a very young age, Ghost witnessed his older brother who, in his eyes was wrongly accused receive a twenty year prison sentence which devastated the young MC. Experiencing a life-changing moment-ofclarity and realizing that he wanted more from his life than bad company in the streets or a 9 to 5 at the gap could offer. “I realized that my drive and hard work in Hip-Hop was based on much more than a nice car and a few chains. It’s based on the amount of people I have depending on me to make something of myself, my brother is one of them.”•It was a struggle at first, but he finally landed a few ghostwriting gigs that supported his dream and allowed him to launch his own company The L.Y.F.E. Music, an acronym which stands for Live Your Future Everyday. Shortly thereafter, GhostWridah signed on with NorthStar Management NYC and created a formidable team to make his mark on the music industry. NorthStar and GhostWridah made a great two year run together releasing the acclaimed “The Ruler’s Back” LP which featured major acts such as Paul Wall, Shawty, Lo, Malik Yusef and more. The LP embarks us into a new era of Hip-Hop which focuses on the real person behind the music as opposed to the self-animated gangsta. It was released in November, 2008
Ghoastwridah received amazing reviews from some of Hip-Hops biggest sites. This street album is one of the most versatile street albums I have heard in a while truthfully from an up and coming artist. NorthStar and Ghost parted ways shortly after his return to Miami. We made great music together and we took it as far as we could as a team. At the end of the day I have a great deal of respect for those guys at NorthStar,• says Ghost. The rising star went on to release a mixtape titled “305′s & Heartbreak” A mixtape concept inspired by Kanye West’s “808′s & Heartbreak” The mixtape was named The 2009 mixtape of the year― on The305.com, one of Miami’s premiere websites for Miami Hip-Hop and fashion. An honor considering the mixtape had only been out six months at the time. 305′s featured the buzz worthy smash ‘Celebrate Lyfe’ which was produced by friend/ Rising local producer Leo ‘LowKey’ Zapata (Credits include, Trick Daddy, Smitty, Trae, Slim Thug).Since, GhostWridah has been working on the highly anticipated “In Love With My Future” LP, which spawned one of the biggest release of his career thus far, The Don Cannon produced hit, ‘Red Bottoms’ which set fire throughout the internet upon it’s February 15th release. There was a bit of controversy behind the song which turned out to be the beginning of an incredible working relationship between the two [Don Cannon & GhostWridah]. Cannon has been very instrumental in backing the GhostWridah brand. “You don’t usually hear too many cats with a the lyrical ability coming out of the south these days,”• says the super producer. Also adding to the latest remarkable compositions, the aforementioned, multi-talented LowKey, & L.Y.F.E. music newcomer Rem. With the release of his new single, along with a rapidly growing internet buzz Ghost has been approached by several major labels as well as an opportunity to meet the legendary Dr. Dre out in L.A. Miami/HipHop has a new face, and we advise you get use to it. With Poe Boy/Hiram Group backing him 100% and with the recent release of his latest EP, “American Alien,” it is safe to say that

Rondey Gibson aka 2Eleven has captivated the streets with his music, can you tell us how it feels to be the King of the West Coast Underground? I'm a student of the game. I still got some shit to learn. I'm definitely putting my grind together. It feels a good to be looked at, and it feels good to have people are paying attention to me and my music. When did you first decide to pursue a career in the hip hop industry? Growing up in the hood, everybody dream is to be a basketball player, or a rapper. It got serious about the time I met Young Jeezy, and Suge Knight. I knew that this was what I wanted to do for a career wehen I went on my frist tour. How did you get your first break? I was being looked at, being around Jeezy and the CTE crew. I had put out two mixtapes. People didn't start taking me seriously until the first "Product Of The Block" tape. I did a song with Snoop Dogg called "Just Like That". That feature from Snoop solified me in the rap game. What artists if any have influenced you and why? Young Jeezy showed me how to make something from nothing. 2Chainz, he's been in it for a minuite, and he going strong right now. He keeps hope alive for me. I'm still young in the game, and he proves that the sky is the limit. You'ved toured with Young Jeezy , Lil Wanye , Jay Z and Trey Songz on the Street Dream Tour, The America's Most Wanted Tour and The Blueprint 3 Tour. What has these expierences been like ? It's a big learning expierence. I've learned different artists' stage presences. I've learned their buzz in different cities. It showed me that it is fun, but a whole lot of work. Its 24 hour work. You get up, you go to the next city. You have to deal with 10 hour bus rides. You do radio stations, instore signings, soundcheck, hit the show, go to all the afterparties, and get like 2 hours of sleep. Try doing that 44 days, it's hell. Fun is out the door after a while. Tell us about Your mixtape Product of the Block Volume 2 ? Product Of The Block 2 is a sequel, and an extension to the Product Of The Block mixtape which came out in 2008, which was real major to me. It shows my growth in music. It shows my situation. I have some dope features on there, great production. It's geared up to be another classic, and it's highly anticpated. What can people expect? You can expect energetic, turnt up music. Your going to hear party songs. I got songs for the women. Of course I have that thug motivation on there for the hustlers. I got that motivational music for up and comers. I'm a product of the block, and this is music for people like me from the streets, who are making something out of nothing. Any songs we should look out for? "Light One" produce by Rocket Man, "On My Shit" ft Freddie Gibbs produced by Purps, and "I Am" ft TY$ produced by Fuego. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? I see myself alive, and still grinding to get better. Where can people find you online? Follow my twitter, @2Eleven. Subscribe to my YouTube Channel, ChannelDeuce, and stay posted for my new viral site that I'll be annoucing soon. I have a new mini vlog coming with 8732 Apparel where you'll see me performing on Young Jeezy's TM103 Tour, and you'll see some behind the scenes footage from a recent 8732 Apparel photoshoot. Stepping my entire internet presence up. You can find me on WorldStarHipHop, OnSmash, and USDA2Day on the regular.

F N G I SI 013 Milwaukee’s Signif returns to IHH with her long awaited project, ” The Transition“. ’The Wake Up’ is one of many great tracks off the album. One listen to ‘The Wake Up’ reminds you just how much female voices are needed in hip hop A widely respected, down-to-earth rapper and singer -- as well as a producer, arranger, and engineer -- Phonte (aka Percy Miracles, El Tigallo) was a member of Little Brother, a trio that formed during the late ‘90s at North Carolina Central University. Within years of formation, Little Brother became the leading alternative rap group of their time. While Little Brother were still thriving, Phonte established The Foreign Exchange with Dutch producer Nicolay; that act debuted in 2004 with Connected, then made a marked shift toward moody, left-of-center R&B with the Grammy-nominated Leave It All Behind Disc1 (2008) and Authenticity (2010). Little Brother disbanded in April 2010; within a year and a half, Phonte released his first solo rap album, Charity Starts at Home. Throughout his career, Phonte has been involved with numerous outside projects; he collaborated with DJ Mitsu The Beats, Murs, Darien Brockington, DJ Shadow, 4hero, and The Roots, among several others, and recorded a series of side-splitting (but affectionate) covers EPs with multi-instrumentalist Zo!, one of his The Foreign Exchange associates. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
ROCCETT 19
HOOD- WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND RAISED? i was born and raised in Carson, CA. I rep the West Coast.....
HOOD- HOW RUFF WAS YOUR LIFESTYLE GROWING UP? You know coming from Cali and Southern Cali at that the Gang life is really evident in your life. Carson is right between Compton and Long Beach, but also has nice residential homes and neighborhoods. I experienced the normal LA lifestyle growing up, you know getting into it with other hoods, the homies dieing, getting in trouble with the law, all that. HOOD- WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BE APART OF THE RAP GAME? I been rapping since i was in high school just banging on the tables freestyling or whatever. Honestly, I really didnt start taking it serious until getting into some trouble, having a child, and having people tell me I had a lot of talent and a gift with rapping. It was a combination of all that to help me take my music seriously and want to pursue it.... HOOD- HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME ROCCETT? Thats always been my name, Roccett is my last name... so people been calling me Roccett my whole life from teachers, to people in the hood. HOOD- WHO IS YOUR INFLUENCE? Tupac is a great influence on me.. I am influenced by anyone that has had a long succesful career in this game. Longevity is hard in this game, so artists like Jay Z, Nas, Ice Cube, Snoop, they all have had some influence on me. HOOD- COMING FROM THE WEST COAST, A REGION THAT HAS PRODUCED HIP HOP STARS LIKE SNOOP AND DR. DRE. HAS IT PUT A LOT OF PRESSURE ON YOU? No, i dont feel pressure. I really do this, so there isnt any pressure just because I am from the West Coast. Thats just a part of me, but my music is made for the entire world, I have a fanbase everywhere and I am always trying to expand my music and brand... HOOD- WHAT IS IT ABOUT YOUR STYLE THAT SEPARATES YOU FROM ALL OF THE OTHER HIP HOP ARTISTS OUT RIGHT NOW? I am real, a real artist that dont let fads or trends influence me or my music. No one put me together and made me a certain way. I keep it 100. My music is made off of emotions and how I am feeling, so people gonna relate to that music, real respect real...
HOOD- WHAT CAN ROCCETT BRING TO THE HIP HOP GAME THAT NO ONE ELSE IS BRING RIGHT NOW? Like i said, I am always gonna be me and authentic to who I am... I am not worried about what others are bringing, I am worried about being the best that I can be, making good music, and giving my fans what they want. I do this for the people, the fans, its that simple.... HOOD- HOW DID YOU GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME AFFILIATED WITH YOUNG JEEZY, SUCH A WELL KNOWN, SUCCESSFUL EAST COAST RAPPER? Honestly, i knew Jeezy from being in the streets, the streets can bring you a long way. I used to see Jeezy out of town and we had mutual homies, Jeezy didnt even know I rapped at first. One time he was in LA doing an event or some promo heard me rap and we was Corporate Thuggin after that. I parted ways with Jeezy on the business side of things and focusing on my Green Up movement. I been chopping it up with Rozay and my MMG fam and just gonna continue to grind, hustle, and build. HOOD- HOW HAS THE EAST COASTS RESPONSE BEEN TOWARD YOUR MUSIC AND STYLE SO FAR? I get love in the East Coast, from New York to Atlanta and throughout the south. I have the opportunity to spread my music in these regions and collab with different artists in this regions. I got major love for the East and the South and feel at home whenever I am out there. HOOD- WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT FROM ROCCETT A YEAR FROM NOW? You should definitely expect me to keep flooding the streets with music, you should expect to see me city to city touring, i will still be pushing my Get Your Green Up Movement, pushing www.iamroccett.com, you possibly will see me venturing into acting and or tv of some sort, really just growth, continuing to have my career grow and working hard. The sky is the limit though.... HOOD- IN YOUR EYES WHO IS YOUR STRONGEST COMPETITION RIGHT NOW IN THE GAME? I see myself as the only competition for me, as I stated earlier I dont worry about what others are doing, i focus on getting the most out of whatever I am doing. Thanks for having me and too all my fans thanks for the support and please hit me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/roccettgreenup follow my Twitter at @iamroccett and get the catalog at www.itunes.com/roccett. Anthony Ortiz, better known for his rap name FEV, is an upcoming refreshing artist born in East Harlem, New York City. Growing up in Thomas Jefferson Houses; Fev was inspired by his favorite rappers like Big Pun, Jay-Z and Beanie Siegel but his flow is still raw, original and captivating. He hopes to make East Harlem proud and reach ears worldwide. FEV was surrounded by a household that was diverse on music; listening to hip-hop, latin, and freestyle. But the major influence in his life was his father, Tony from the internationally-known group TKA. FEV used to tag along with his father; going to local shows, enjoying tours and witnessing the phenomenon of a success and a dream come true. One of his most memorable moments with his father was at WKTU's Beatstock, TKA performed for a crowd of 55,000 at Giants stadium. The wow factor was incredible for FEV and his sister, Brook Penning, who was given the chance to sing for the spectators. FEV was inspired. But growing up FEV was afraid to show his father his talents. When he was in the 11 th grade his increasing buzz was all over the streets of East Harlem. Eventually catching his father’s attention, he was impressed by his son. The name FEV was given to him by Black Rob, another well-known rapper. His exact words were, "You're hot like a fever", hence the name FEV which stuck in the streets. FEV’s distinct flow, clever self-written lyrics, Spanish background and obvious passion sets him apart from any other rapper stemming from Harlem. His songs are based on stories and topics of everyday life from the good to the bad to the ugly; Goals, death, stress, happiness, dreams, love are just a few. FEV works with artists all over the tristate and almost had the chance to sign with Trackmasterz, but since monetary issues were never resolved, he remains indie. Motivated by his fans and the hopes of making it, FEV aspires to become a successful entrepreneur setting higher standards for more upcoming artist. Aside from the determination and focus that music has given him, FEV has also learned a great deal about himself. He is built to handle a lot more than he thought he could; Music made him a man. And he will not stop until he reaches his dreams.
