Improving the power of the library experience This has been the mission of hoopla digital since launching in 2013; a digital mission incubated over the last 25 years as part of Midwest Tape, a trusted partner and provider of physical media materials to public libraries across North America, and in response to the public library’s evolutionary digital shift. Deepening the focus on exploration and discovery In keeping with the library mission of patron discoverability, hoopla digital has steadily deepened its focus on exploration and discovery since its inception. hoopla brings digital content to life through streaming and downloading in many different formats, including: movies, music, TV shows, audiobooks, and now eBooks and Comics – over 300,000 titles. Patrons discover new content through more collections, greater depth of genre exploration, and better selections – from Hollywood blockbusters and bestsellers to the niche and hard-to-find titles.

With the added eBooks and Comics, patrons now have the freedom to experience, explore, and enjoy more than ever before from this all-in-one service, hoopla digital. From the service’s revolutionary borrowing model, reader technology, and mobile-centric interface, patrons are provided a reading experience like no other. The hoopla eBook focus is all about the love of reading again – no waiting or holds, no constraints– simply patrons connecting with their favorite titles in a format that suits their needs anywhere and anytime. In fact, hoopla’s groundbreaking, Action View, our built-in Comics reader technology, enables full-page and panel-bypanel views for a completely immersive reading experience.

Our goal is to match the hoopla experience with the way people live in this ever-changing digital age.

hoopla’s Vision Our Vision is a vision for the future of the public library as it serves patrons in the unfolding digital age. It’s a vision to facilitate the public library’s own evolution to sustain cultural viability and relevance for patrons in a rapidly changing consumer media acquisition mindset and economy.

hoopla’s Beliefs 1. We believe that patrons are consumers, too, and that true patron-driven acquisition is the future.

2. We believe that we need to make all titles in all media formats available to library patrons, and to do so without upfront cost to our library partners.

3. We believe patron dissatisfaction with “waiting” for titles of choice will disappear. In its place will be positive patron experience, ultimately turning into patron preference.

4. Our most passionate belief is in the library of the future, a library that is all about

engaging and serving everyone in its community, 24/7, through the same great digital media experience.
