hoopla-hooping library event increases membership. World records were surely challenged on Friday, January 10th, when the Allen County Public Library (Fort Wayne, IN) partnered with hoopla to throw a truly revolutionary in-library cardholder event. ACPL cardholders were offered the chance to take home a brand new Android tablet, donated by hoopla, for the participant who continuously hula-hooped the longest. ACPL and hoopla staff used the chance to engage an ever-growing crowd of onlookers into learning about and registering for hoopla. Young and old all gave it a try, but in the end, it was two young library lovers that battled to the bitter end. After several hours, the contest was called and ACPL’s director proclaimed both girls as winners and announced the Friends of the Library would graciously purchase another new Android tablet for the remaining contestant. At the end of the day, the event successfully engaged library visitors with a spirited way of learning about this new service. http://www.acpl.lib.in.us
