Meet Chef Tracy Smith
“
I am the lead “Laughing Lunch Lady” at Sky Oaks elementary in Burnsville. Being able to educate, encourage, and empower kids to lead healthier lives everyday is amazing. Before becoming a child nutrition enthusiast, I graduated from the culinary arts program at Hennepin Technical College. I have worked as a baker and cake decorator, and I also ran pastry production at Franklin Street Bakery and the New French Bakery. Cooking and baking have always been my passion ever since I began decorating cakes with my mom. Being able to share these skills with children is awesome! This summer, Tracy is teaching Cooking to Fuel Your Body (p. 4-5), ABC’s of Baking (above and p. 9), Globe Trotting Recipes (p. 15), and Fresh is Best (p. 18-19) She looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm for cooking with you this summer!
