Youth need to be signed in and out of Camp Royal every day by a parent/guardian between 8-9 am; and 4-5 pm in the Eisenhower Community Center Entrance Lobby area (Door B). Students attending morning-only camps must be picked up at 12 pm unless they are staying for lunch — then pick-up time is by 12:30 pm. Drop-off for students attending afternoon-only camps begins at 12:30 pm unless they are coming for lunch — then drop-off time is 12:00 pm.

What about lunch?

Lunch is free, and is from 12:00-12:30 pm for Camp Royal participants. Lunch is part of your Camp Royal fee and is supervised by Camp Royal staff. Your student may bring a bag lunch if they wish, and eat during the scheduled Camp Royal lunch time.

How are kids supervised from 8-9 am, 4-5 pm, and during lunch?

Our Camp Royal staff will supervise drop-off, lunch, and pick-up time periods outside of the regular camp programming time. During this time, youth have the option to participate in gym games and other small group activities.

What about August programming?

Kids & Company is a great option if you are in need of August programming. See page 27 for more information, or register at www.HopkinsSchools.org/Kids.

What is your ratio of staff to kids?

Camp Royal follows state guidelines for Out-Of-School Time ratios, which are 15 to 1. Some class offerings will be below this ratio.

What do I do if bad weather is reported?

Call the Hopkins Public School Weather Hotline at 952-988-4019. This number will have the latest information about weather and cancellations.

Do you allow electronic devices to be brought to classes?

Camp Royal youth will be very busy during programming time. Please leave electronic devices at home. Cell phones are welcome, but need to remain in the backpacks while participating in programming. Hopkins Community Education is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken devices.

Who do I call if I need to talk to Camp Royal staff during programming time?

The Camp Royal cell phone number is 952-451-4630. This phone number will be attended during programming times.

Do you offer payment plans?

Meet Chef Tracy Smith

I am the lead “Laughing Lunch Lady” at Sky Oaks elementary in Burnsville. Being able to educate, encourage, and empower kids to lead healthier lives everyday is amazing. Before becoming a child nutrition enthusiast, I graduated from the culinary arts program at Hennepin Technical College. I have worked as a baker and cake decorator, and I also ran pastry production at Franklin Street Bakery and the New French Bakery. Cooking and baking have always been my passion ever since I began decorating cakes with my mom. Being able to share these skills with children is awesome! This summer, Tracy is teaching Cooking to Fuel Your Body (p. 4-5), ABC’s of Baking (above and p. 9), Globe Trotting Recipes (p. 15), and Fresh is Best (p. 18-19) She looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm for cooking with you this summer!
