was all too aware of the Palm Jumeirah, the beautiful man-made archipelago stretching out into the sea with its tree trunk, crown with sixteen leaves and surrounding crescent island that forms an eleven kilometre-long breakwater and adds nearly eighty kilometres to the dubai coastline. between the many upcoming hotels and resorts, what I didn’t realise was that amidst the up-and-coming hotels lies romance - the one & only resort.. a jewel among the many hotels and resorts that immediately makes me forget Dubai’s busy life, traffic and construction sites. Not just a pleasant getaway but an intimate resort like your very own private escape with top notch facilities. The moment I enter the magnificently scented lobby i am surrounded by luxurious and tasteful interior design that envelopes me in an overwhelming feeling of comfort. once i step out onto the terrace and gardens – and before i even decide to take a dip in the oversized pool – i feel i must explore the magic of the resort and its intimate walkways. it only takes a moment for me to be strolling along the almost five hundred metres of beautiful private sands stretching out to the arabian sea.the area is dotted with low-rise mansions and villas but they are so discreetly and tastefully situated that they complement the experience rather than detract from it.

he view from the beach upwards to the resort is as amazing as the one looking down to the sea. the architecture is reminiscent of that found in southern spain, but the warm wind reminds me right away that i am in the arabian gulf.

y daytime is to be spent lounging on oversized daybeds pampered by the immaculate service around the pool. i lie back, cucumbers soothing my eyes, before i take my place in the air-conditioned cabana i have reserved (one of six) to unwind in a more private area. here you can eat lunch with friends and in the afternoon watch your favourite movies on Lcd screens when you need to take a break from the dazzling sun. Dinner at the one & only is definitely an experience in itself. under the culinary guidance of michelin-starred chef yannick alleno you get a choice between the restaurants zest and the amazing stay, where connoisseurs of extraordinary interior design and culinary arts will be more than astonished. for lovers of imaginative cuisine stay amazes with signature dishes showcasing traditional cooking reinterpreted in a contemporary style. a charming surprise awaits me at the Pastry Library as i am invited to play an active role in the creation of the desserts. I simply tell the chef my favourite flavours and ingredients and he creates something truly unique and entirely to the delight of my palate. on one of the evenings, i feel like strolling along the pontoon to dine above the arabian waters at the 101 on the marina, which boasts panoramic views of the glittering dubai skyline and i pinch myself to make sure i am not dreaming. you might be more than happy to mingle with some fellow guests but if you feel the need for total privacy with your loved one, the special in-room dining and villa entertainment service creates the perfect romantic atmosphere for proposing or surprising somebody on a memorable day. 10 .

The arrival of Jean-christophe Maillot in 1993 led to the company’s international growth through the choreographies he created for it. he also enhanced its repertoire by inviting established or emerging choreographers to work with the exceptional toolALLofCOOKED its 50 dancers. on tour for over 200 days a year, the ballets de monte-carlo is a major culture ambassador for the Principality. wanting dance in monaco to be even more influential, in 2000, Jean-christophe Maillot created the Monaco Dance Forum, an international multi-form dance festival which sees a procession of artists and creators converge on the Principality every year.

History
in 1975, the académie de danse classique was founded in the casa mia villa, which was bought specially for that purpose by the government. it was created according to the wishes of Princess grace and Prince rainier iii to give marika besobrasova a facility where she could develop her teaching. hired by the ballets de monte-carlo at the age of 16, where she worked alongside mikhail fokine, marika besobrasova began teaching in 1939. she created the ecole de danse classique de montecarlo in 1952. this classical dance school would be attended by many famous personalities from the dance world.

rudolf nureyev regularly went there to work, as did eva evdokimova, marcia haydée and yoko morishita. the creation of the classical dance academy along with a boarding school enabled marika besobrasova to cater for students of all nationalities. consequently the Principality had a major professional trainig school, as wanted by Princess grace, as the beginnings of a permanent ballet company. the education at the academy is multi-disciplinary and includes classical, conteporary and character dance classes, musical education, art and theatre history lessons. with the assistance of a director of studies, general studies up to baccalaureat level have been provided for french and italian students with support given for other nationalities following qualifications awarded in their country of origin. since its creation, the académie de danse classique Princesse grace has trained several generations of dancers, many of whom have become soloists or principal dancers with renowned international dance companies. in august 2009, a new board of trustees, presided over by h.r.h. the Princess of hanover was appointed by the Prince’s government to manage the academy which has been renamed “académie de danse Princesse grace”. appointed director in september 2009, Luca masala is now responsible for maintaining the quality of the classical instruction while opening the academy up to the various influences of modernday dance.
Train, Create, Share In 2009, the Princess Grace academy of Dance, founded in 1975, redefined its objectives and made the professionalisation of each of its students its primary purpose. it is now responsible for maintaining the excellence of classical instruction while remaining open to the influences of modern-day dance.

We have to look deeper into new food technologies, scientific discoveries and research that today form the basis for improved nutrition for tomorrow. We need to pay attention to agricultural techniques and the quality of produce. Is it possible to guarantee water and food for the entire world population? Is it possible to increase food security and have new solutions that take into account the planet’s biodiversity? This dialogue will take place on a daily basis through events, shows, conferences and meetings at the Expo Milano 2015 between May and October. Visitors will experience a unique journey that looks at the complex theme of nutrition. You can take a trip around the world, without having to pack a single suitcase, simply by sampling the food and discovering eating habits of people from every corner of the planet. Expo Milano’s central theme is ‘feeding the planet, energy for life’ and will open up a dialogue between the major players in sustainability. s a guest of the Excelsior Gallia I could experience the comfort of one of the 51 suites, equipped with light leather sofas and ottomans, large TV screens in every room, 2 minibars, of which one contained only complimentary glass bottled cold water in the bedroom. I have to admit it took me some time to figure out the technical part for the light control, as once, shortly after I had arrived and needed to relax in the bath the bathroom suddenly went totally dark! To my astonishment when I crawled out of the tub the movement detector kicked in and here was the light again ! Some 30 minutes later laying in the wonderful comfort of the large bed with luxurious linens I decided to turn all lights and TV off, just to find myself 30 seconds later again with the TV on! It’s Magic… Modern technology is definitely not my best friend, I once more realized and snoozed off to a night of relaxing sleep in the soundproof suite embedded in its calming soft colours.

In the port of sanary-sur-mer you’ll see a large collection of traditional wooden fishing boats, mainly the local pointus and a small fleet of artisan fishermen are selling their catch every morning. on the Provençal market under the plane trees you can explore lots of fresh produce directly from the farmers. sanary-sur-mer is famous for its beautiful coastline with small beaches. built upon and around mont st clair, sète is situated on the southeastern hub of the bassin de thau, an enclosed salt water lake used primarily for oyster and mussel fields. To its other side lies the mediterranean. the town has a network of canals which link the Étang de thau and the mediterranean sea.
