HELP US TO HELP

OTHERS...

Equine Partners CIC exists to support and encourage families in difficult times. We provide Equine Assisted Learning to children teenagers and their families. Coming for a series of (usually 6) sessions with the horses they play, laugh and learn together. As they develop a new appreciation of each other and learn strategies and information to support them in their daily lives we see family dynamics change and life begin to become more comfortable.

We are there for any situation that makes family life difficult. Some examples include where there is a diagnosis or suspicion of conditions such as Autism also Bereavement, family break up, stepfamilies, recovering from domestic abuse, adult or child mental health issues such as selfharm and suicide attempts as well as when a child has experienced trauma or attachment difficulties. Young carers, adopted and fostered children and those who have had a disrupted (traumatic) childhood all benefit from time with the ponies. When families attend the sessions, they will play some carefully designed games, learning about the ponies and also about themselves and discovering new skills to make life work for them. This is an experiential approach so people who fi nd sitting in a conventional consulting room difficult can gain great practical learning with this approach.

As a not for profit community interest company we rely on a great band of volunteers who help us take care of the horses and provide the sessions

as well as those who run marathons and do other amazing things to raise funds for us. As you can imagine, like many small charities, the effect of the recent coronavirus lockdown and changes to the way we can work has had a huge impact on us. We have reopened and are seeing families again which is great news. We have to charge for sessions to pay for the upkeep of the ponies and at the moment many families (and the organisations we normally receive payment from) are struggling. If you have any ways you can help - sponsor a pony’s upkeep (we have 6!) or a family to attend sessions, donate to our local giving page, fundraise for us or anything else you can offer we would be most grateful and would love to hear from you.
