A Hidden Gem Becomes Righteous Invitation Owner, Tiffany Wilson, talks about her special AQHA stallion, Righteous Invitation.

How did you come to own him? Bill Hibbs and his daughter bred, owned and raised Noah. They stood him privately to a small number of local mares. He was a well kept seceret that was not advertised or promoted. After seeing a video of him from my friend Stacey Hibbert in late 2008, I decided to breed a mare to him in 2009. At the Congress in 2010 the filly I had bred, ‘Shocked tobe Invited’ won a Top Ten in the OPEN HUS lunge line with her owner, Amanda Moore. I called Bill after the Congress, and told him I wanted to breed to him again in 2011…’ I’m too busy with work to breed him, he’s too good to just sit here, I think I’m gonna sell him’ Bill told me. …the rest is history. With my husbands support and encouragement, Noah came home to TC Performance Horses in the spring of 2011- he will be with me until he is buried. I am thankful to Bill Hibbs for trusting me with Noah, and selling him to me. How did you decide he was the right horse for you? I spent a lot of time with Noah before I committed to buy and wrote the check. I made several trips to Bills place to see Noah and learn more about him, Watch him breed, and mostly assure myself that this was a stallion that I could handle myself and would be safe around my two young boys. He surpassed all my expectations for a breeding age stallion then, and he continues to do so today. My boys take ‘pony rides’ on him, Noah pastures next to the babies, and I handle him solely. Everyone says their stallion is ‘good minded’- this stallion exceeds that. How did he lose eyesight in the one eye? Noah was in training with Randy Wilson of Ohio as a two year old with hopes for a great show career. Bill brought him home on a ‘break’ and it was then, that he incurred a puncture injury to his right eye. Thousands of dollars were spent trying to ‘save’ his eye, and while his eye was saved- he is blind in it, and was never shown because of it. Can you tell me a little about his personality? He is a lover- he will put his head in my arms and just stand there while I kiss and love on him! He has a fun personality, often making us laugh. He loves his pasture next to the babies- I often post pictures on both his and my personal FaceBook page of him nuzzling and ‘talking’ to the babies. I’ve never seen a stallion like that before- so kind. It’s like he knows they are his. Does he have any successful foals you would like to mention? Noah does not have a large number of foals out there (yet), but the percentages of his foals with show records are something we are very proud of! He has only 18 foals (minus the 2011’s and under), and he has sired 3 Congress Top Tens, 4 ROM earners, multiple futurity champions and reserves, as well as multiple NSBA money earners! He is a true all around sire, siring foals that are excelling in both the WP and HUS. His first and only APHA foal, Z Awesome Invitation, had a great career as a lunge liner, and just this past year went on to win a World and Reserve Pinto World Championship! One Righteous Image had multiple wins and reserves as a 2 year old in the Ohio WP futurities, and then that winter won a circuit champ at the Fox Lea winter circuit under the guidance of Susan Stocker. He has since won multiple All Arounds and Reserves with his amateur owner, and just recently sold to AQHA World Champion owner Kathy Hunt of California. Hot Dark and Righteous is a stunning yearling coming two filly out of our mare Caliente Amiga, and her name is one that will be called next year as a two. She is the nicest filly I’ve ever raised and we have very high hopes for her. What are your future plans for him? Noah will continue to stand to the public, and we will continue to breed him to our small group of mares. Our double registered ‘A Sudden Impulse’ mare, ‘Do Mac A Impulse’, and our Reserve Reichert Champion mare ‘Caliente Amiga’ are producing exceptionally with him. . As long as he can continue to sire these great foals, we will continue to breed him, and when that time is over, he will live out his days of retirement in our pastures in which one day he will be buried. Hopefully, that’s a long ways off though! He is just getting a real start as a sire in my opinion. Tell me a little about your farm? We are located in Sunbury, Ohio, about 30 minutes north of Columbus, the home of the All American Quarter Horse Congress! Anyone who is in town, is welcome to visit! We are currently building a new facility- one that will hopefully accommodate Noah and our prospects and mares a little better! We hope to have our new farm up and running in early 2015. Do you stand him at home? While I handle all of our customers, Don Griffey and Griffey Equine Center of Pataskala, Ohio does all of our collections and shippings. On farm breedings can be done at Griffey Equine Center. Is your family involved in horses as well? My husband is a non-horse person! While he participates in the business decisions, he is very ‘hands off’ with the horses. He certainly helps with the maintanence and upkeep of the farm though. I am forever grateful to my husband for allowing me to pursue my passion, and follow my dreams with Noah! Our two young sons, Trenton 5, and Gage, 3, have a mini/Shetland pony that they enjoy, and they do a great job of helping us desenstitze the babies! Please provide his 2014 stud fee and breeding & contact information: Noah’s 2014 stud fee is $900. He is nominated to the AQHA IF, NSBA SIF and BCF programs, Tom Powers futurities, WVQHA, WPQHA and some other state futurities. I offer multiple mare and past breeder discounts. I am so grateful to those who choose to breed their great mares to Noah year after year. Without the breeders who believe in him, there wouldn’t be these great horses out here making his name known! I truly believe the best foal crops are those that are on their way up! We are just getting started with him as a sire. He has only one 2011 and 2012, but these 2013 foals are exceptional, and I know the future foal crops beyond that will be as well! Additional information can be obtained by contacting: TC Performance Horses Tiffany Wilson 330-647-3328 www.righteousinvitation.com 60 | The American Horse | January 2014 | TheAmericanHorseMagazine.com

In The News.... APHA files support of AQHA cloning verdict appeal
January 7, 2013 Provided by the APHA Press Room. www.apha.com
On January 2, the American Paint Horse Association, along with several other organizations, filed a friend-of-the-court brief urging the 5th U.S. Court of Appeals to overturn an August 22 verdict requiring the American Quarter Horse Association to register clones. AQHA is appealing the judgment. The brief itself is not in support of or against the registration of cloned horses; rather, it cites concerns that the federal verdict inhibits an association’s right to adopt, administer, interpret and enforce its own rules. “APHA filed a friend-of-the-court brief in support of AQHA because we felt that the judge’s ruling put all breed associations at risk and in a position where we couldn’t make and enforce our own rules,” APHA Executive Director Billy Smith said. Other organizations who echoed APHA’s support included the American Kennel Club, the American Morgan Horse Association, the Arabian Horse Association, The Cat Fanciers’ Association Inc., The Jockey Club, the Pinto Horse Association of America and the U.S. Trotting Association. “We are extremely pleased with the brief and the excellent work of our legal team, and we look forward to presenting our case to the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals,” AQHA stated on its website. A hearing in front of the appeals court has not yet been scheduled.

American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame member E.F. “Bud” Alderson, 91, died December 22. The American Quarter Horse Association December 23, 2013 Edward F. “Bud” Alderson, 91, of Sharpsville, Indiana, died Sunday, December 22, 2013. Alderson was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2004. Born August 21, 1922, to Dewey and Mabel (Cooper), Alderson grew up taking care of many animals an even showed draft horses in 4-H. He graduated from Prairie Township High School in 1940, which was the same year he bought his first Quarter Horse and sported a reputation as a match-race jockey, Roman rider, all-around cowboy and could sit an English saddle for jumping. Alderson married Madonna Quakenbush on April 17, 1949, and the couple had two children – Janelle and Randy – and ran a successful Quarter Horse breeding operation for more than 50 years. Alderson judged for 45 years throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and South America. His credits include officiating at the All American Quarter Horse Congress and the AQHA and AQHYA world championship shows. He was later appointed to the committee that developed AQHA’s amateur division in 1985. He served as the first amateur committee chairman and helped implement AQHA’s hunter under saddle class. Alderson became an AQHA honorary vice president in 1986, and received AQHA’s 50-year breeder award in 2003. Alderson’s contribution to the American Quarter Horse industry went beyond serving on AQHA committees. He and his wife organized dozens of clinics, giving both youth and adults a chance to gain more knowledge and enjoyment of their horses. they also hosted countless 4-H clinics and college judging teams. Alderson helped establish the Indiana Quarter Horse Futurity and the Indiana Quarter Horse Association in 1955, and was the past president of the IQHA. In 1988, he was inducted into the Agriculture Hall of Fame at Purdue University. Alderson became an AQHA judge in 1961. Determined to have an input in the Association he was appointed to the show and contest committee, holding one of the longest seats on an AQHA committee – 24 years. Bud Alderson is survived by his wife, Madonna; children, Janellle and husband Wallace Gray, and Randy and wife Chris Alderson; and grandchildren, Brian and Katie Gray, Katie and Chris Kelly, Andrew Alderson, and Aaron Alderson; and great-granddaughter Evelyn Gray.
