Continuing the synergy with its other properties, many rooms feature the iconic freestanding pedestal bathtubs, leather headboards, and paravent screens. The rooms include distinctive steamer trunks that have been transformed into minibars, echoing the original property in New York.

NoMad Las Vegas brings the refinement of a European home to Park MGM with a NoMad hotel, casino, pool, and NoMad Restaurant and NoMad Bar led by the 2017 winners of the top spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, Daniel Humm and Will Guidara. The hotel, created by Sydell Group in partnership with Make It Nice, is a place of rendezvous and romance, where elegant evenings and moments of chance mix with extraordinary food and gracious hospitality. The design, as in New York and in Los Angeles, is a collaboration with Jacques Garcia, drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings of the desert with a nod to the glamour and playfulness of The Strip. The hotel offers highly personalized and holistic service paired with understated sophistication, comfort, and intimacy.

Located on the top four floors within the newly opened Park MGM, each of the 293 rooms and suites at NoMad Las Vegas are residential in feel and decorated in the designer’s timeless style with a distinct New York sensibility. Each room is appointed with custom

The hotel features the first-ever NoMad Casino, poised under the building’s original Tiffany glass ceiling. The casino provides an intimately refined space to play roulette, blackjack and baccarat. The high-limit gaming floor takes inspiration from the old-world glamour of European casinos and the playfulness of the hotel’s new home on The Strip. The Casino Bar showcases expertly crafted cocktails from acclaimed Bar Director Leo Robitschek. Taking cues from the Tiffany ceiling, Garcia draws on its pentagonal shape, which is mirrored in the casino’s geometry, leaning in an art deco direction as a nod to the 20th Century building. As a way of honoring good luck in gaming, there are consistent references to peacocks throughout the gaming floor.

The renowned Royal Portuguese Cabinet of Reading in Rio de Janeiro inspires the NoMad Restaurant’s design. It features soaring 23-foot walls that showcase a remarkable collection of books that have been carefully curated, abundant but restrained. The color palette in the space blends emerald, amber, and mahogany with recessed banquets and an imported 18th-century French antique fireplace and staircase.

with contemporary imagery. To achieve this, vintage artworks have been sourced from antique stores throughout the US and Europe and have been combined with various collections from Portraits de Villes and original photography from commissioned artists. As a result, each guest room art selection and the offerings in the public spaces are unique; while at the same time communicate a consistent journey. FEATURES

The classical theatres of France inspire the design of the NoMad Bar - deep bordeaux velvet is present throughout. During the day, an Austrian velvet and sheer curtain, custom made by Rosebrand, cloaks the Bar. The space also includes a Steinway piano staged in the corner of the room to welcome intimate live performances.

The hotel’s private dining areas include: The Cellar which is an intimate space, befitting of its name with walls decorated with wine bottles old and new, vintage decanters, glassware and service pieces. The Salon is a lush, larger room that features a cocktail bar alongside emerald green tufted walls and recessed seating. The Parlour room honors four famous female gamblers in the form of sculptural busts, along with a neoclassical frieze in celebration of female power and beauty. Vintage rugs are found throughout. Like NoMad New York and Los Angeles, the art program for Las Vegas was developed by be-poles and draws inspiration from its strong architectural DNA. The NoMad spirit honors the past while celebrating the future, encouraging the tension between uptown and downtown. The art program for Las Vegas aims to highlight this unique contrast by pulling neighborhood references from the 1980s and a certain European elegance of the 1960s juxtaposing them

District. There was Roseland, Birdland, Ella Fitzgerald, marathon dancing, hot jazz, Doo-Wop and the pop rock of the Brill building as well as the invention of the now gossip columns. It was a democratic “meeting place” and nothing exemplified the disorder of the city or the dichotomy of high and low art than Times Square. Sadly, however, the Great Depression and World War II took its toll on the area and Times Square began its decline. From the 60’s onward, the area was riddled with adult entertainment, prostitution, drugs, and crime. It wasn’t until the mid-80’s when the Marriott Marquis opened its doors and Disney debuted The Lion King at The New Amsterdam Theater that the clean-up began with the redevelopment of new theaters, retail, hotels and eateries.

LOBBY STAIRCASE

EDITION USHERS IN A NEW ERA FOR TIMES SQUARE Ian Schrager recreates and reinvents the golden age of this world-famous icon for the present The Times Square EDITION may just be the long overdue and best thing to hit Times Square in over a century. There simply has never been anything like it before in New York City’s famed cultural and entertainment mecca. Ian Schrager, in partnership with Marriott International, introduces a new order with the first chic and sophisticated luxury hotel and the first Michelin-starred chef ever to grace the neighborhood, along with the creation of a new form of Cabaret theater and a

complete reinvention of billboard art. But what could be the most important part is a revitalization of Times Square that will attract not just visitors and tourists, but New Yorkers as well, punctuating the area as the City’s epicenter and crossroads of the world...again. Throughout the decades, Times Square has seen myriad changes and has taken on many iterations. By World War I, it was the center of culture, nightlife and entertainment. By the 40’s and 50’s, the Latin Quarter Nightclub presented festive floor shows that featured chorus girls and can-can dancers, Frank Sinatra, Frankie Laine and the Andrew Sisters. There was Tin Pan Alley, the Copacabana and the Theater

Despite Times Square’s notorious reputation, it has managed to maintain itself as a symbolic global, geographic and cultural icon. It had long been home to media giants as well as the center for theater, music, culture and entertainment. This adventurous mold-breaking, however, has disappeared. Today, Times Square and its overindulgent commercialization lacks the substance and sex-appeal that once distinguished its streets. It is hungry for a Renaissance and The Times Square EDITION will usher in a new era. The hotel and all of its unique offerings seek to preserve the essence of the area during its Golden Age when it was the microcosm of the best New York City had to offer.

LOBBY RECEPTION DESK

From the moment you enter the hotel’s doors on 20 Times Square at West 47th Street, you are transported to another world—a decompression zone. A long ivory hall with venetian plastered walls and ceiling and a floating custom green mirrored stainless sphere inspired by Anish Kapoor and the colors of Jeff Koons await you. Once you arrive at the Lobby and Lobby Bar, a series of black and white spaces, you are convinced that you are no longer in colorful Times Square anymore. The refined and pristine spaces of The Times Square EDITION are juxtaposed against the energy, vibrancy and chaos of Times Square. Each of these two extremes serves the other yet each stands on its own. But together, something new, original, and even stronger is created. Indeed, with this alchemic symbiosis, a new reality and a virtual fourth dimension is created. As you move in and out continuously, the space becomes boundaryless. This clash of worlds, this surreal sense of space and time is best experienced on the outdoor terraces, appropriately named the Bladerunner Terraces, that frame the various public space floors. On the terrace off the Lobby Bar, you can choose to be in your own private oasis escaping in a cocoonlike area or face the brilliance of flashing light and color of Times

The first Michelin-starred chef ever in Times Square, John Fraser, is spearheading the food and beverage at the hotel to create a cacophony of dining experiences. The fine dining restaurant named 701 West is a gastronomic gem in a jewel box-like setting that is an explosion of color. The menu features the best local ingredients and inventive preparations. While difficult to assign a specific label or locale to the cuisine from such a culinary creative mind, Chef Fraser was somewhat inspired by classical French, Asian, and Latin fare. Lobster veloute with truffle panisse and champagne float along with sweet potato baked in seaweed bread are sure to be signature items. A charcoal grill will be a centerpiece for the entrees including a grilled whole King Crab with bonito butter and an A-5 Wagyu with smashed garlic. The Terrace Restaurant and Outdoor Gardens is an original take on a four meal, 18 houra-day restaurant inspired by traditional French brasseries and American chophouses but taken in a completely new direction by Chef Fraser. It’s the “everyday” dining option where you never tire of the food no matter how many times you dine there. Romantic yet casual, and elegant yet simple, the restaurant will also highlight Chef Fraser’s vegetarian sensibilities, featuring six house made pastas and a selection of the best steaks and chops. The Lobby Bar will feature the next generation of bar food, moving beyond nuts and finger food and answering to people’s desire for great food in a bar setting.

THE TERRACE RESTAURANT AT EDITION BAR DETAIL

The entrance to the Terrace restaurant will host the debut exhibit of specially curated candid portrayals of “the real New York City”, the one not seen by visitors, capturing energetic, gritty and poetic street and neighborhood scenes by renowned photographers Helen Levitt, Elliott Erwitt, Bruce Davidson, Ruth Orkin, Arthur Leipzig and Cornell Capa to name a few. The following exhibit will shift to more current street scenes illustrating the culture and diversity that pervades the city today. The space will continue to house rotating photography and art exhibits by various well-known photographers and artists.

Having theater born out of order negates the whole point. What we make comes from utter chaos. Chaos is where we learned to do this even before we knew what we were doing.” Anya Sapozhnikova The shows will be part theater, part performance art with talent across many disciplines including dance, voice, aerial acrobatics, choreography, costume design and magic. There will be a regular ongoing performance based on William Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. With no formulas, rules or any specific structure, but not for shock value, each performance at Paradise Club will be different from the previous one and different from the next. For a new twist on dining and entertainment, the menu will be original and creative from hot dogs to caviar and everything in between.

The Paradise Club is an inventive, chaotic, high production spectacle perfectly suited for Times Square. The brainchild of Anya Sapozhnikova, Justin Conte, Matthew Dailey and Kae Burke of House of Yes in Bushwick, Brooklyn, this edgy and provocative modern-day Cabaret manifests the disorder of the City and adds a whole new dimension to the hotel and “Paradise Club is a place of to Times Square. aspiration...Invention and reinvention...A refuge to enjoy “Why theater? This one-of-a-kind cultural entertainment space also features the most sensational, immersive, colorful and kinetic lighting effects designed by Tony and Academy Awardwinning Fisher Marantz of Studio 54 fame and inspired by a Lenny Kravitz video, as well as bespoke hand painted murals inspired by Bosch and Dali--a modern successor to the world famous Maxfield Parrish’s King Cole mural on Fifth Avenue. Perhaps the most spectacular element of the space is the fullblown production studio and control center that allows for live simulcasts and broadcasts around the world, as well as locally to a “Best in Class” 17,000 sf-8K-8mm Jumbotron outside of the building and a high definition digital screen on the stage. The exterior Jumbotron will also display rotating art by current video artists, cinematographers and animators. “The Golden Age of Times Square elicited the feeling that anything was possible. HÔTEL NATIONAL DES ARTS & MÉTIERS PARIS

HÔTEL NATIONAL DES ARTS & MÉTIERS ENTRANCE

LOBBY

Located on the border between the neighbourhoods of Montorgueil and Le Haut Marais, the Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers is the latest hotel from Clé Group, which also owns the Hôtel Bachaumont. This new establishment makes a bold statement with its timeless design, and offers a new way to experience the Parisian lifestyle. By choosing a location next to the Centre National des Arts & Métiers, the Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers aims to pay tribute to that century-old institution devoted to engineering and the teaching of manufacturing

techniques. Raphael Navot, the designer in charge of the project’s artistic direction, thus took the bold step of complementing the building’s historic character with an innovative design and exceptional craft expertise. This daring combination has created a hotel without precedent, where the work with materials and shapes is highlighted in each of the spaces. The building’s seven floors thus house some 70 rooms of various types, each one unique: with or without a terrace, overlooking the street outside or the patio, but above all boasting finishing touches - and dimensions - worthy of a bespoke Parisian apartment. On the ground floor is a range of places to eat and drink (restaurant, bars and a cicchetteria), open to guests as well as the public, and offering a gastronomic menu where Italian cuisine meets creative mixology, and party vibes meet well-being without going over the top. Overlooking a tree-lined

square with a village feel, the hotel is designed to blend in with the cityscape of the neighbourhood, with a large terrace that offers an ideal place to catch some rays as soon as the sun comes out. Reflecting the hotel’s commitment to sustainable development, an ecological policy covering the products and consumables provided for guests, and processes ranging from recycling to utilities management, was put in place at the outset in order to ensure that this initiative would be built into the project’s DNA.

ROOMS The Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers has designed its rooms as places of sanctuary where comfort takes priority. A place of hospitality, where Parisian heritage meets architecture and innovation to create a sense of timeless charm.

RISTORANTE

RESTAURANTS AND BARS The Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers also stands out from the crowd when it comes to the food and drink on offer, harnessing the experience of an expert trio who know how to make the most of all the delights of Italian gastronomy. To run the restaurants at the Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers, Clé Group called upon the expertise of three key players on the Parisian restaurant scene: Julien Cohen (Pizza Chic, Grazie, Il Professore, etc.) and the duo formed by JeanPierre Lopes and Thomas Delafon (Le Très Honoré, Bambou, La Plage Parisienne). While Julien Cohen sets the tone with his undisputed knowledge of Italian cuisine, the whole trio knows how to turn the hotel’s restaurants and bars into destinations in their own right. Delicious ingredients are transformed into sublime dishes and drinks by the talented cooks and bar staff, before being served to guests with elegance and poise by the waiters. All restaurants and bars are open 7 days a week. Le Ristorante National On the hotel patio beneath the retractable glass roof, Le Ristorante National welcomes up to 80 diners in a chic trattoria atmosphere. For this restaurant, which is open to the public, the trio have devised an Italian menu

inspired by traditional recipes but above all by exceptional products sourced directly from the peninsula. Bathed in natural light, Le Ristorante National offers gourmet dishes in a friendly atmosphere, and attentive yet laid-back service. This is an elegant restaurant founded on the values of sharing and a love of food. L’ Herbarium Continuing in the same vein as Le Ristorante National, L’Herbarium offers the comfort of fifteen or so seats in the bar and around thirty seats in the lounge next door. But most importantly, this cocktail bar serves a drinks list put together by Oscar Quagliarini. The talented head barman creates mixed drinks in the style of a perfumer blending his fragrances. Each drink has a strong olfactory/gustative identity, in turns feminine and masculine, designed to awaken all the senses of the person fortunate enough to sample it. Le bar sur le toit The establishment’s ultimate taste destination, this bar is literally perched on top of the hotel roof. However, this panoramic viewpoint over the capital is only accessible to a privileged thirty or so guests who have made sure to book in advance in order to enjoy the luxury of a unique view over the rooftops of Paris.

The 66 rooms at the Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers are spread across the six floors of the two Haussmannian buildings that make up the establishment. Overlooking a tree-lined square, Rue Réaumur or the establishment’s large inner courtyard, there are ten or so different room types ranging from Double Room (20 sqm) to Penthouse (100 sqm). The hotel therefore has a wide variety of accommodation to fulfil every need or wish, with the spaces laid out in a unique way. Each room has its own configuration, and the furniture has been carefully chosen (Moroso, Tatra), so guests feel like they are staying in an individually designed, dare we say bespoke room. As further evidence of this interior design approach, each space features a most daring combination of materials that really carve out the room volumes: a concrete panel wall at the head of the bed, which itself is covered in elegant printed fabric, solid oak parquet in a herringbone pattern, lighting from a lamp moulded directly into the wall, electric connected devices made of Bakelite (THPG brand), or shelves and storages made in situ from heat-blackened steel.Furthermore, each room is furnished with a king size or twin bed (guest’s choice) as well as a mini-bar and a Nespresso machine for the guest to use whenever they please. Lastly, the bathrooms have been completely covered in terrazzo (mainly white or anthracite grey) and feature a black granite

coatings; Moroso and Sol & Luna for selected items of furniture… Or Patrimoine Pierre de Taille for the remarkable pillars in the lobby, as well as Pierre & Granite for the marble floors (lobby) and the “sculpted” staircase leading to the gallery, and Kali Vermes for her plant arrangements in all areas of the hotel.

CHAMBRE AVEC BALCON

washbasin on a steel stand as well as taps with a matt black finish. Depending on the category, the rooms are fitted with a shower and/ or bathtub directly built into the terrazzo. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNATURE The Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers boasts a unique architectural signature based on tailor-made design combined with a consideration of function that focuses on the materials involved. The Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers is an awe-inspiring architectural endeavour that was made possible by the combined and complementary expertise of designer Raphael Navot and architect-engineer Daniel Vaniche, head of the DVVD agency. Originally from Israel, Raphael Navot holds a degree from the Design Academy in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and now works in Paris. As an accomplished designer should be, this creative professional is just as capable of designing an object as a space, of finding usage-based solutions as matching function with emotion, and of working with the sensibility of a moment as sublimating raw materials. An expert in picking out and even imagining materials that echo unheard of situations,

Raphael Navot has turned the Hôtel National des Arts & Métiers into an amazing experiment in hospitality and food service, as well as a gem of interior design. The atmospheres in each space have been developed using carefully chosen materials that deliver a natural shade all of their own. The colours are not added on but are provided by the very essence of the material used: cut Paris stone for the lobby, oxidised copper tubes acting as cladding for the walls in La Cicchetteria, natural coatings in the corridors, terrazzo for the bathrooms, heat-blackened steel for the bookshelves, burnt wood for the bar counter… The sheets are the only white element in the whole design scheme. For here again, the furniture and the materials used have been carefully picked or even exclusively created: vintage Tatra chairs for the restaurant, timber table tops, concrete legs, washed velvet sofas, suede curtains… while every shape conveys a sense of timelessness. The décor features an impressive catalogue of contributions by the top craftspeople and creatives in their field: Oscar Ono and Cassou for the woodwork; Rue Herold for the linen, Rubelli for the velvet; Signature Murale for the wall

Lastly, the complexity of this layout would not have been possible without the support of the DVVD agency, which has entirely reworked the interior volumes of the two Haussmannian buildings that make up the establishment. From the sequence of the rooms to the creation of the retractable glass roof over the patio, from managing the various craftspeople to installing the hydraulic pump that provides autonomous cooling for the air-conditioning system. All this is obviously underpinned by a genuine commitment to the principle of sustainability.
