Inspired by Anantara’s upmarket hideaway resorts found in the Maldives and Thailand, the development will boast an idyllic atmosphere and suitably indulgent amenities: from a 4,000 square foot state-of-the-art gym to an Anantara Spa, plus access to stunning lagoon pools, restaurants, and a private beach... Abdulla Bin Sulayem, CEO of Seven Tides, the Dubai-based real estate developer behind the development, says choosing Anantara to manage their dream resort was an easy choice. “We appreciated the other properties they manage around the world, and we knew they’d be the perfect operator for this hotel,” he explains, citing Anantara’s Kihavah development in the Maldives as one of the most beautiful resorts he has ever seen. An added benefit is the company’s current presence in the UAE. “One of the good things about Anantara is that their existing sales team
is already available here, which allows the buyer to feel more comfortable using them,” Abdulla says. Set to become one of the best addresses on Palm Jumeirah’s eastern crescent, the development will feature six different types of homes, ranging from 1,120 square foot one-bedroom apartments to 1,990 square foot two-bedroom flats. Step inside and you’ll find en-suite bathrooms attached to cozy double bedrooms, granite countertops in state-of-the-art black chrome kitchens and expansive, sun-drenched terraces, complete with chic

lounge furniture, that allow you to drink in the incredible sights of Dubai’s coastline. “We chose furniture company Touchwood to furnish the apartments, who have done most of the major hotels in Dubai, and we’re extremely happy with the quality they produce,” Abdulla says. For those who love to create their own space from scratch, however, the 14 penthouses have been left to their owners’ discretion. “From my experience,” Abdulla muses, “people have different tastes and the last thing we want to do is build something that will be torn apart. This gives them flexibility.”
Buyers also have a choice of what to do with their dream apartments, and whether they want a short or long term contract. “They have the option to either live in it as their own apartment, or have a long term, one year or more lease that can go through any registered agent in Dubai,” Abdulla says. “Alternatively, they can have daily or short term leases but this has to go through Anantara’s rental pool, and they will manage it for them,” he explains further. This will allow the owner to earn an income from their apartment while still having the option of staying there during
the year. And with the housing market improving every day, as it stands the rental yield is expected to be between six and eight percent. A mere 15 minutes from Sheikh Zayed Road, Anantara Dubai, Palm Jumeirah Resort & Spa is close to the likes of Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Marina Mall, while closer still, food haven Milk & Honey delivers groceries locally. Independent Finance’s general manager Sam Wani reveals the latest movements in mortgages
Better Homes has announced it's hiring 150 new consultants over the next three quarters. Not only will this increase the company's size by 50%, it's one of the largest job creation programmes in Dubai's real estate industry for 2013. This act is proof of a sustainable recovery in the property market. Better Homes conducted a survey of 1,359 respondents to gauge their pre-disposition towards home owning, with the sample size representing a range of nationalities and neighbourhoods. The survey revealed some startling facts. Of all the respondents surveyed, 83% termed Dubai as their home, even though a large number of them are expatriates. This dispels the myth that the majority of Dubai's population is transient and there's little propensity to invest here. Only 12% own their homes while the
rest are renting, which is in stark contrast to other mega cities such as New York, London and Hong Kong where ownership can be as high as 75%. 58% of the respondents have considered buying a property in Dubai, as they want to save on high rental costs. The next best reason was investment: the 42% who wouldn't buy cited high prices and a perception of market instability. When questioned on which developers would be favoured, a large number voted for Emaar. As for accommodation, 74% found their properties to be good value. Dubai Marina was the most favoured destination to live in, with an 81% favourable vote. Traffic was the most frustrating aspect of living in Dubai, followed by parking and size of accommodation. 77% of respondents considered Dubai to be very safe.
Contrary to common belief, between Q2 2011 to Q1 2013 2-bed apartments rose more in value than 4-bed villas. The largest increase happened in JLT where a 2-bed apartment rose from an average of AED750,000 to AED1.4 million. In contrast, 4-bed villas on Palm Jumeirah rose from AED8.2 million to AED10.9 million. Compared with other global property destinations, Dubai is considered the cheapest. While Hong Kong is priced at AED80,000 per square metre, London is AED64,000 and Mumbai is AED48,000. In contrast, Dubai is AED12,000 per square metre. In terms of rental yields Dubai is the best, with 6.65%. New York is 4.71%, London 3.6%, Singapore 2.8% and Mumbai 2.64%. What's more, the zero tax regime makes Dubai's market even more attractive. Screens up To divide up spaces effectively, some form of physical screening to create a barrier can be helpful. Anything from kitchen island units, low height walls or bookshelves to console tables, planters, fireplaces and sofas are useful. Make note of the orientation of the furniture as that is important too. For example, a large three-seater sofa could have its back to a dining table and chairs in order to achieve privacy in both the dining and living spaces. CoFFee glazed short rib oF beeF with Creamed potato and roasted Carrots:
For the onion ketchup 1. Place the oil into a large pan and set over a high heat.

salt and cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are carmelised. 3. Add the soy, vinegar and honey and cook until completely evaporated– leaving a rich, sticky sauce. 4. Transfer this to a blender and mix to a rich puree, and then transfer to a bowl, cover with cling film and set aside.

1 rack of beef short ribs 5 servings of Nespresso Fortissio Lungo 1 chili, sliced 2 garlic cloves, smashed 200 ml maple syrup 200g ginger, finely grated (squeeze out the juice to use) 10 medium carrot, peeled, cut in half 10 large baking potatoes Milk Butter
Onion ketchup: • 5 Spanish onions, peeled and thinly sliced • 150ml light soy sauce • 200ml runny honey • 100ml dark vinegar • 50ml vegetable oil
For the ribs 1. Mix all of the ingredients and whisk to combine.
2. Place the ribs into a medium-sized baking tray, pour over the marinade and thoroughly coat the meat, and marinate for five hours. 3. Wrap the ribs in foil and place in an oven pre-heated to 100° C and cook for eight hours. 4. Place the potatoes in an oven at 180°C for 90 minutes. 5. Remove them from the oven, slice in half and blend until smooth. 6. Place the carrots in a roasting tray, dot some diced butter over the surface, season with salt, pepper and a sprinkling of sugar and roast in an oven pre-heated to 180°C for 20-25 minutes until the carrots are golden brown. 7. To serve, remove the ribs from the oven, transfer them to a baking tray, tip over any leftover marinade and the place the ribs under the grill until the marinade is a sticky, dark glaze.

30 large peeled raw prawns 400ml whte Miso 5 servings of Nespresso Finezzo Lungo 1 large raw pineapple 2 limes, juice and zest separate 1 punnet coriander cress 4 ripe avocados 1 tbsp vegetable oil Szechuan peppercorns
400ml BBQ dressing: • 70g Dijon mustard • 140g honey • 100ml light soy sauce

100ml tomato ketchup 100ml vegetable oil 1 chili 3 cloves garlic, minced 40g ginger, finely grated 200ml orange juice 2 oranges, zest
For the bbq dressing 1. Place all the ingredients into a large bowl and whisk thoroughly to combine.
2. Take 400ml BBQ dressing and whisk it together with the miso. 3. Add the coffee and whisk again and pour onto the prawns. 4. Set aside in the fridge, covered, to marinate for 12 hours.
For the avocado puree 1. Peel the avocados, blend in a food
processor, adding the lime juice and pinch of salt. 2. Cut the skin off the pineapple, slice it into 10 slices and remove the core from the centre of each slice with an apple corer. 3. Brush the pineapple with oil, grate the lime zest evenly over the slices and using a pepper mill, grind the Szechuan pepper over the slice. 4. Place the pineapple under a hot grill and cook until the edges blacken. 5. Place a frying pan over a high heat and leave for one minute and then sautee the prawns for one minute. 6. Place the pans under a hot grill and grill for a further two minutes. 7. Serve the prawns with some avocado puree, a small green salad and the grilled pineapple. 8. Garnish with coriander cress. brillat savarin CheeseCake with a CoFFee Crust and apriCot glaze Serves 10 For the base: • 35g caster sugar • 35g demerara sugar • 35g plain flour • 35g ground almonds • 60g unsalted butter • 2 capsules of Nespresso Volluto grounds For the cheesecake: • 650g Brillat Savarin or cream cheese • 100ml double cream • 100g caster sugar • 1 vanilla pod • 1 orange, lemon and lime–zest only • 3 eggs, 2 yolks For the glaze: • 200ml apricot coulis • 1 leaf gelatin
1. To make the base place the sugar, flour, almonds, Nespresso Volluto grounds and 35g of butter into an electric mixer and mix to an even crumb. 2. Transfer to a baking tray and bake in an oven pre-heated to 160°C until golden, stirring every five minutes. 3. Remove and set aside to cool. 4. Transfer to a food processor and blend to a very fine crumb. 5. Add the remaining butter, melted and briefly blend to mix. 6. Pour the mix into a tart ring and press the crumb down to compact it into an even layer, then place in an oven for 5 minutes and set aside to cool. 7. Place all the cheesecake ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth 8. Pour onto the cheesecake base and transfer to an oven preheated to 110° C and cook for one hour or until the liquid mix has set. 9. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool. 10. Warm the apricot coulis, soak the gelatin in cold water until soft, squeeze out any excess moisture, and then dissolve it in the coulis. 11. Pour it carefully onto the surface of the cheesecake and transfer to the fridge to set. 12. Take the cheesecake out of the mould, cut into portions and serve.
