My interest in landscape architecture has developed from the acquisition of design tools and methods, to engaging all people to becoming part of their own creation. This foundation motivates myself to design beyond the space and into the fabric of the lives that create the depth of every project. Empowering this design process will initiate new ideas and solutions beyond the boundaries instilled in current design practices as well as inspire new forms of communicating with people and the built environment.

TIBER RIVER PAVILION
Rome/Italy
This project focused on a system of river pavilions which would provide water access to the Tiber River below. The space is extended from the exsiting bridge to activate visual interest to the historical Ponte Roto and Tiber Island.

PERFOMANCE
This project focused on one of the historical bridges over the Tiber River. The Ponte Umberto is a unique bridge that frames multiple historical view-sheds throughout the city. The goal was to frame these view-sheds while integrating public performance into a series of stages. This transformation of the typical Italian intersection cultivates social/public interaction within the urban fabric of the city.

INTERNATIONAL URBAN DESIGN
This project focused on collaboration with Italian architecture students to revitalize a grey-field site on their campus. Design goals were to reconnect with the river, promote walk-ability, and connect with existing recreational systems at the river’s edge. Other design goals were to promote outdoor/indoor co-spacial assignment. Overcoming language, cultural, and technical barriers relating to design process and implementation was a key part of this project. The most efficient way of communication was through sketching ideas rather then talking.

CONNECTIVITY
This urban revitalization project focused on connecting existing infrastructure amenities such as Lincoln Way and the Inter-modal system. The main move was to create a corridor that encourages pedestrian use throughout Campustown. The extended boardwalk is intended to connect biking systems and provide unique interaction with College Creek. A proposed cafe/book store will anchor the corner and promote local businesses while providing a program for the space that encourages dwelling or movement throughout the corridor.

The site location is on one of the last remaining undeveloped shore line of lake Okoboji Iowa. This project focused on community planning that accommodated environmental needs as well as recreational. A major goal was to balance profit with public greenspace. To achieve this, a mix of housing typologies was designed around community green space. This approach gives the site a diverse range of users and multiple methods of restoration that can be used for recreation and educational purposes.

ADA HAYDEN HAYED IOWA
MASTER PLAN Ada Hayden is a heritage park in North Ames, Iowa. This project specialized in site design with emphasis in prairie restoration. The gathering space is designed around an astronomical garden that also functions as a sundial. The sundial interacts with the surface material and surrounding built benches.

PERSONAL NOTES I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and then pursued my B.L.A at Iowa State University. I have an emphasis in urban planning/design and teach Google Sketch-up tutorials. One of my great passions is traveling. The benefits of travel have influenced my design career on multiple scales. I enjoy jazz composition and engage in many community performances on piano.
