LEWIS-MANNING’S ‘SIMPLY FABULOUS’ 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATORY EVENT REACHES ITS FUNDRAISING TARGET
A celebratory event, entitled ‘Simply Fabulous’, was held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and was part of a year-long calendar of activities, organised by the hospice.
Held and hosted at St Giles House in Wimborne St Giles, the event successfully raised funds to go towards recruiting another Lewis-Manning Hospice Care Staff Nurse to support patients and continue to provide extraordinary care in the local community.
The spectacular evening was MC’d by AFC Bournemouth’s Jimmy Glass, and participants took part in a Heads & Tails game, followed by a silent and live auction, which sold off an impressive array of prizes, including a Porsche Driving Experience at

Headline partners of the event were Porsche Centre Bournemouth and upon arrival guests were able to look at two stunning Porsche cars at the entrance to the venue. Other sponsors included the dining sponsor which was Lester Aldridge and drinks sponsor which was Barratt Homes.
Chief Executive Clare Gallie advised, “It was such a superb evening, filled with so much fun and a wonderful gathering of our supporters from over the past 30 years. We are hugely grateful to everyone involved, from our sponsors, to staff , to volunteers to attendees.”
LOCAL HOSPICE FINALLY WELCOMES BACK PUBLIC TO TIE A YELLOW RIBBON
The garden at Forest Holme Hospice in Poole was brightened by beautiful yellow ribbons last week, as it welcomed visitors back for its annual Tie A Yellow Ribbon event during Hospice Awareness Month.
Tie A Yellow Ribbon is a special event of reflection and thanksgiving that takes place each year in June and gives people the opportunity to make a personal dedication on a ribbon, irrespective of whether their loved ones attended the hospice. Each symbolic ribbon is yellow, which is a colour commonly associated with the hospice movement, which are displayed in the hospice garden throughout the summer.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic Forest Holme has not been able to host the event for the past two years, so the hospice charity was delighted to be able to welcome back supporters, who through making donations with their dedications, helped raise over £4,000 to help support the provision of palliative and end-of-life care for people across Poole, Wimborne and the Isle of Purbeck.

MARWELL ZOO ANNOUNCE THE ARRIVAL OF CLOUDED LEOPARDS
Marwell Zoo is thrilled to announce the arrival of a sibling pair of vulnerable Clouded Leopards to the zoo.
Clouded Leopards are great climbers and are native to Asia inhabiting the rain forests of Indonesia, the Himalayas in Nepal and parts of mainland South East Asia. They can be quite shy and love densely packed vegetation so guests may need to be quiet and patient when visiting in order to spot them. Taevey and Kanya (both females) are making themselves at home opposite the entrance to Wild Explorers.

ART EXHIBITION COMES TO ST. PETER’S CHURCH
Pictures for The Beehive, the art exhibition raising funds for Diverse Abilities’ Splash Appeal, is visiting St. Peter’s Church in Bournemouth as part of a tour to showcase drawings of the people supported by the disability charity.
The first showing of this exhibition in September 2021 was accompanied by an auction of donated work by acclaimed artists including Antony Gormley, Maggi Hambling, and Paula Rego. The event raised over £100,000 towards The Splash Appeal which aims to raise over £1million to build a much-needed state-of-theart therapy pool for the adult’s supported by the charity, who currently do not have the access they need to hydrotherapy.
The exhibition will be open to the public at St. Peter’s Church in Bournemouth Town Centre from Sunday July 10 to Wednesday July 13 between 10am and 5pm daily.
