10 fun facts about Jay Rachet the Hot Lunchbox show host

What is your favourite sandwich filling? Well, it has always been tuna mayo but about 2 weeks ago I had a little accident at the studios... I dropped tuna mayo all over the floor! So, since that point, I’ve been going for the safe option of ham.

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why? Probably something similar to what Charles Xavier has in the X-Men franchise. If I had his mind capabilities that allow him to read everyone’s thoughts, I could figure out what troubles people are having and support them with it. Plus, I could use it to forecast the future, to fix things before they even go wrong.

What are some of your hobbies outside of radio? I have 100s of hobbies stretching from Djing since 1989, to managing funerals and weddings. I actually work as a master of ceremony and stage host outside of my radio duties. I guess if I was to mention one hobby that isn’t work-related it would be my morning ritual of immersing myself in an educational podcast while driving to Hot.

What’s your favourite Sport and what team do you support? My favourite sport has always been boxing, in particular the heavyweight division. I’ve been so lucky to have spent time during my career being a Boxing MC taking inspiration from those such as Michael Buffer and David Diamante. If I was to name some of my preferred fighters to watch they would be the likes of Antony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Dog or cat person? No consideration is needed here, I’m a dog person all the way. I currently own a Labrador called Louis, however sadly last year my other dog Ronnie, who you may know as he became Facebook famous in the Bournemouth area, passed away.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Well, I’ve done a lot of traveling in my time but there is one place I’ve always wanted to visit but have yet to find a way to do it and that’s Necker Island. For those who don’t know, that is Richard Branson’s Island and it is spoken about in so many of the books I read. Does anyone want to lend me a private jet to get there?

What is your favourite music genre? I come from a background full of Jazz, Funk and Soul, but I am also a sucker for a good bit of RnB. To be honest anything with a soulful grove works for me. Back when I started Djing I enjoyed and played all genres not only for the love of music but because you would never be out of work if you could do it all.

What is your go to favourite food? Well, this one for me is simple, you can never beat a good old curry. Chicken Dansak anyone?

If someone wrote a biography about you, what would it be called and why? It’s funny this question came up because back a few years ago I actually began writing a biography. It was called ‘The World Beneath the Bournemouth Sands’ and the content was surrounding my life in Bournemouth during the late 80s. The things I saw, the experiences I had, that sort of thing.

If you won the lottery what would be the first thing you buy and why? I have always said that if I did ever win a large chunk of money, I would use it to pay off debts belonging to my friends and family. Mortgages, loans these are all things that can weigh people down and I would love nothing more than to remove that burden and give them a clean slate.
