A New Captain At The Helm
Mrs Holloway, Head of Talbot Heath speaks on the transition to a new Head; “After thirteen wonderful years as Head of Talbot Heath, I am excited to be handing over the wheel to my successor, Tracy Harris. It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to have been custodian of such a successful, pioneering and visionary school. As someone who cherishes learning and has spent a career enthusing pupils to foster their intellectual curiosity, creativity and aspirations, it has been hugely rewarding to see Talbot Heath forge forwards with its groundbreaking curriculum and future focused vision for education.
A Fluffy New Arrival Sure To Melt Your Heart
Marwell is thrilled to announce the arrival of a fluffy new addition who has already stolen the hearts of people around the world.
Tashi, an endangered red panda, is settling into his new home at Marwell Zoo after arriving from Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire today.
The tiny cub was affectionately nicknamed Little Red by keepers before being given his official name and news of his “miracle arrival” made international headlines.
MARWELL ZOO www.marwell.org.uk
“The school has been described as warm, convivial, supportive, innovative and a centre of excellence. We enjoy a national and international profile for our innovation and creativity, as well as our sporting excellence. My aim, as Head, was to build on the foundations laid by my predecessors to ensure that the reputation established by the first headmistress, Mary Broad, in 1886, was maintained. I love the fact that her pupils were written about in the Bournemouth Echo as ‘once again demonstrating all the attributes one would normally associate with boys’, having been seen conducting science experiments on Talbot Heath with butterfly nets. How radical. How daring.
TALBOT HEATH www.talbotheath.org
“Talbot Heath had a Sixth Form in 1886, even though girls were not able to sit higher level qualifications or progress to university. Miss Broad took school trips of girls across Europe in the 1800s, with no heed to what people may think.
“She was bold and ambitious for her pupils and was not going to be constrained by societal norms. I have followed gladly in her footsteps, with the determination and commitment to support the next generation of girls, from 3-18, to ‘think big’ and develop their loves and passions.
“I know that Mrs Harris shares this passion and vision and is excited to become the eighth headteacher in the history of Talbot Heath. I will be taking up the helm of a boat and heading out onto the high seas, as she takes over the helm of the school and I wish her every success in her exciting new venture. Talbot Heath is a wonderful school and looks forward to welcoming her most warmly.
